Given me cheaper insurance than the rest
Trustworthy people to do business with
Great, good value product. No nonsense terms clear on website. Documents easy to access through website. Website is well designed and easy to use. Information relating to my new policy was updated quickly. Process straight forward.
Save your money — legal cover on paper, but no legal help when actually needed
I submitted an employment-related legal expenses claim under my Aviva policy on 11 August 2026, during a time-sensitive redundancy process.
Aviva’s claims handler, Arc Legal, eventually appointed Lyons Davidson on 3 September to carry out a merits assessment. Lyons Davidson subsequently said that the assessment would take up to five working days.
My employment ended on 28 September. By 30 September—seven weeks after submitting the claim—I had still received no merits assessment, no decision on funding and no actual legal assistance whatsoever.
I complained about the handling of the claim. Arc rejected the complaint on Aviva’s behalf because, in its view, the claim had been progressed “in line with our processes and service standards”. That rather misses the point: legal assistance which remains trapped in an internal process until after the urgent employment matter has concluded is of no practical use to the policyholder.
The experience added correspondence, chasing and frustration at an already extremely stressful time, while delivering none of the legal support for which the cover had been purchased.
My honest advice to prospective customers: save your money. You may be better off buying insurance for your cat—the cat might at least receive help while it is still needed.
UPDATE: Aviva’s response illustrates the problem better than I ever could. They said they were sorry I “feel” I had not received the support I needed and invited me to contact them again.
I had already spent seven weeks contacting Aviva’s claims handler, corresponding with its appointed solicitors and pursuing a formal complaint. This was not a matter of how I “felt”, nor was the objective merely to handle the case “smoothly”. The fact is that the legal assistance for which I had paid never arrived while it could still have been useful.
Judging by this response, Aviva still completely misses the point of “insurance”: to provide the contracted help when the insured event occurs, not generic sympathy after the need has passed. I genuinely wonder what value this cover is supposed to provide?!

Aviva is the most horrid car insurance provider
Do NOT get your car insurance with Aviva. Avoid at all costs.
I was subject to a car crash on the 30th of Nov 2025 that was not my fault, my car was stationary at a junction, and I’m still waiting for the third party company that Aviva has appointed for their car insurance claims, to get past the first initial medical assessment properly. They have made countless mistakes and have totally ruined the process of my car crash claim.
The whole ordeal has been a nightmare to navigate and I’ve spent countless hours, weeks and months trying to get updates on the progress of my claim.
Aviva works with Carpenters, who have used a doctor that has lied on my GP medical report over 20 times. And Aviva has done nothing about this major fault that is affecting my claim. All they keep stating is that it’s an issue that lies with Carpenters, but I’m paying Aviva over £70 monthly for my car insurance for them to take accountability and control of nothing.
They have been utterly useless.
I’ve been waiting nearly 1 year for Aviva to properly and effectively coordinate my car crash claim. And since then my physical medical condition and mental health has spiralled as a result of this car crash and the aftermath of dealing with Aviva.
I’m majorly disappointed with Aviva’s service and lack of care for their customers that have been subjected to a car crash that wasn’t at all their fault.

Very good car insurance
Motor insurance customer service
Received a motor insurance quote from a comparison site great value no complaints.
Went onto the company website to continue with this quote, even upgraded certain aspects, that’s how competitive the quote was.
Got to the end showed I already had an account with Aviva so put in email address (username) and password. Come up accounts on hold, but it’s only a security check put in user name dob we’ll send an email to reset password.
No email sent checked junk but no email.
Phoned told them the issue was given another number. Phoned that number was told to speak to live chat.
Spoke with a supervisor (wont name) on live chat who tried to give me another number.
Told her this was unacceptable please someone phone me shouldn’t have to be making 4 calls and take 2 hours to take out a motor policy.
The supervisor called me, we went through the policy and payment details, gave my bank details to set up the monthly payments and was put through an automated system to take the deposit.
Put all the details in correctly on line was told I was going to be put back to the person but got cut off.
They called me back there was a problem with the system and the payment hadn’t gone through.
I was put through again to the automated system and put my details correctly in again.
Was returned this time to the supervisor but the payment still had not gone through.
What can we do next I asked. Well I’ll have to call you back tomorrow as my shift is finishing now.
I’m back at work tomorrow so may not have the time to speak to someone, especially if it takes nearly 2 1/2 hours as it has today.
Very competitive rates but shocking customer service all round.
Now I worry how their claims department is run should I ever need them, and still no policy.
