Great Support Finding My Apartment in Frankfurt
I had a very positive experience finding my apartment in Frankfurt. From the beginning, Bakir was attentive, responsive, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer questions, clarify details, and guide me step by step, which made everything much easier—especially while managing the move from abroad.

They won't enforce landlords returning your security deposit
After multiple attempts to contact both the landlord and Wunderflats — including follow-ups more than six months after returning the keys — I still have not received my security deposit back.
All rent payments were made in full and on time. Upon move-out, I received written confirmation that the apartment was handed over in good condition, with no damages reported.
Despite this, the only response I received was ongoing internal back-and-forth between Wunderflats representatives and a final message stating: “We haven’t heard from the landlord, don’t worry, he’ll pay you back.” No timeline, no guarantee, no concrete action.
Under German practice, security deposits are typically returned within a reasonable period after move-out once obligations are settled. In my case, more than six months have passed without resolution or clear communication.
After four years of using the platform without issues, this was the first time I needed real support. Unfortunately, when it actually mattered, I felt unsupported and left without a solution.
At this point, I am considering legal steps, as it remains unclear which party is taking responsibility.
I expected the platform to take responsibility for ensuring a resolution between the landlord and me

As a mediation platform, Wunderflats is not a party to the rental agreement. According to our Terms and Conditions (AGB), the rental contract is a bilateral agreement strictly between the tenant and the landlord. Consequently, Wunderflats does not receive, hold, or manage rent payments or security deposits; these funds are handled directly between you and the property owner.
While our team always strives to assist through mediation and follow-ups, the legal and financial responsibility for the return of the deposit rests solely with the landlord. We do not have the legal authority to enforce payments or intervene in the private financial obligations of the contractual parties. We truly regret that your experience has ended this way after four years, but the legal responsibility in this matter is clearly defined between the landlord and the tenant.
Please be assured that we are currently trying to contact the landlord and we will do everything possible to help you receive your money back.

AVOID this company
AVOID this company! Go with Airbnb instead, it's better value for money.
They don´t help you when there is a problem with the landlord. I had issues with the apartment I rented. I contacted the owner to explain him the problems but never received any response.
Then, I contacted Wunderflats to explain the situation. Their answer: "To ensure everything is handled properly and to protect yourself, it is important that you inform the landlord immediately about these matters. By notifying the landlord directly, you create a clear record of the situation, which will help avoid any misunderstandings or accountability issues when you eventually move out."
Basically, you pay €300 in service fees to Wunderflats for NOTHING. I am even wondering if they read your emails...
I am extremely disappointed with this company and won´t book a flat with Wunderflats again.
