Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 89 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers found the identity verification process to be ineffective and frustrating, often failing to verify documents even after numerous attempts and with clear images. People reported issues with the app and website not working correctly, including camera failures and an inability to link devices, leading to significant time wasted. This often resulted in users being locked out of other services or experiencing delays, highlighting a catastrophic failure in the service's core function. However, some people mentioned that the process was simple and worked without friction, particularly when verifying passports and selfies, and without requiring a mobile application installation. A few others also felt that the service provided more security due to biometric scans.

Swagbucks get ID me

I’ve been trying to get my Swagbucks and this is a joke. They don’t give you time to center the freaking picture they snap as soon as they see a corner of the card. C

Looks like im not the only one…

Looks like im not the only one FRUSTRATED!... I am shocked at how many hours i have been trying to verify using my drivers license. But no matter what i do im getting the error "cant find camera. Check your cameras permissions." So i go and make sure my camera gives permission to use. But nope. Still gives me the cant find camera.... Im done with the app that wanted to verify me. And im definitely done with "withpersona, the verifying site that has conned reputable companies into using them... Because those reputable companies never had to get verified thru them!!! 1.3 stars is way to high for these clowns.

Persona failing

After going through all the process of scanning my ID and making the selfie it ended up with an error statement:
This application is misconfigured...
and sending me to Linkedin for support

Useless app that does not understand people's names

Persona does not seem to realize that in some (many) countries in the world your passport is not necessarily the name you go by in every day life, or on LinkedIn as it is in my case.
So I cannot get my profile verified there, althought clearly the passport photo matches my selfies and all the other information.

Doesn't work

Trying to get verified on LinkedIn and it doesn't work. No help available - you cannot contact them and Persona and LinkedIn just refer to each other as the place you should go for support

Hopeless verification method

Hopeless verification method. I wonder why reputable companies like LinkedIn use it. Perhaps no proof of concept behind this one. LinkedIn and its customers are the guinea pigs

the most stupid software ever released

the most stupid software ever released in history. unbelievable how it could even exists. after scanning a passport it returns non editable empty information and there is no way to retake the photo. it only allows to confirm and continue from there leading to a forever loop of confirmation/rejection. the only chance there is to quit the app... same fate should experience its developers.

100% laggy and trashy experience

This garbage doesn't accepts my Ukrainian id, it says "make id details clear to see" every time when I trying to do verification, visibility of my id and data on it doesn't matter

Persona sucks

I have attempted over 20 times to verify my identity through persona using my passport and have failed every single time. Their system does not work, I have tried using other form of IDs and ended up with the same result. Customer support forces me to directly contact the company asking for the verification, in this case Linkedin and they cannot seem to help either. My Linkedin account has now been locked for months without any valid explanation which is hindering my professional career.

LinkedIn arbitrarily decided to require Persona, but it's a scam

LinkedIn arbitrarily decided to restrict my account, after more than 15years. Then it said this Persona verification process was required.

Unfortunately, it is clear from their terms of service alone that this is an Identity Theft scam. It may as well say 'we share you data when anyone offers us money'.

Asking for a photo ID is intrusive, but maybe. Asking for a Passport photo, no. Requiring a scan of the passport chip has no valid security purpose.

Remember, we are talking about LinkedIn here, not a government or financial institution. There is no legitimate purpose for this process, and they have already said they will do with your data what they want for 'business purposes', that is to make money.

A quick search shows that:
- They are a 'startup' that does not disclose information about themselves.
- Identity theft attempts occurred immediately upon use of their system.
- It usually doesn't work, and they simply ask for more and more documents
- They have been hacked and had a data breach already.

Persona is a scam, and LinkedIn is associated with it. If you use it, you're highly likely to have an identity theft attempt.

The worst

Unfortunately we cannot give a zero-star review but this is what they should deserve. Not only they are trying to collect so much personal data that is definitely not needed for a social network such as LinkedIn but they are not actually able to process the first step of their procedure by reading properly the picture of the ID.

As a startup trying to onboard persona

As a startup trying to onboard persona, this was a ridiculously long process, drawn out for months and useless results. The platform does not work to manage on mobile phone and then is frustrating to get through the authorisation process so we can validate our users.

LINKEDIN - PERSONA - VERIFICATION FAIL

This service (or lack of it!) does not even deserve ONE star! The instructions are less than detailed (I had to go to Gov.uk to see where the chip is located) & I've been trying for over an hour to scan & submit my Biometric UK Passport - but the system seems incapable of processing it. What rubbish... A definite FAIL for LinkedIn.
