Travel lodge welwyn garden city
As residents of welwyn we occasionally stay at our local branch as a family with our 3 yrs old daughter, this is by far our favourite hotel and branch, the hotel is always at a high standard of cleanliness, the staff are all beyond AMAZING, they ensure anything we leave behind they keep safe for us and we just love it. We tend to have the most dealings with Dana and Jade who are at the highest standard of customer service and really go out their way to ensure we have a happy and joyous stay, also Patricia and Taylor are amazing, we've yet to experienced any staff who aren't to be. Rooms are great and always clean with everything they need, staff always helpful, it's like a home away from home for us we've stayed so many times and with our actual house being only 15mins away it's ideal!!! Our family always opts for the welwyn branch of there's availability and we're local and it's definitely something we'll continue to do as it gives you a nice break from home life at a great rate so you get to just have quality time without the home duties.
The girls are all very special and a massive credit to the branch so we always appreciate them and just want to share that. :)
Travelodge Liverpool
Stayed at the Travelodge in Liverpool for 1 night and the location was ok and the staff was pleasant but the room although it was nice at first glance but the room was really warm no aircon just a fan to blow hot air and having the window open wasnt helpful either at all as the drunkards going over the bypass (i know its not travelodge fault) but for a price of £87 for the night you would expect the room to have aircon in it.
The bed and the temperature of the room was horrible It was a horrible nights kip the bed was ok but it was wasnt comfortable either so had broken sleep the next day i was groggy all day.
Wont be using in the future
Room cost 39:99 suddenly goes up to 81:49
I booked one night stay for £39.99 For the 16/10/2025. To attend a Funeral the following day.
But when I received the confirmation it showed 23/11/2025. I immediately contacted Travellodge to amend the booking and was told I would have to pay an additional £41:50 to change the booking to the correct date Made up of adjusted room cost to 68:99 and a booking amendment fee £12:50 also I was charged 13p per minute to make the call how can this be justified. I look at the website again and it still showed the room cost at 39:99 For that night. Be careful this in my opinion is malpractice.
Swansea central - one of the best
On our arrival the reception area was bright, clean and welcoming. The decor was modern and open plan.
The reception staff were polite and professional and were able to answer any of our enquires with good local knowledge. The double room was to a good standard. The bathroom was sufficient although decorating could be touched up as the paint was seen pealing in a couple small places. If i had to be picky, dust was found on top of the over mirror light and their wasn't any extra pillows in the room however this dealt with quicky and positively by Rachel the evening receptionist. The breakfast area was managed well. The food was cooked and presented well in a relaxed ambience.
In short, this was in our view one of the best travelodges to stay in.
What a dump.
What a dump.
Restated 3 nights in Ferrybridge Travel lodge because we were attending a funeral. The room was absolutely awful, with suck/food in the bathroom sink, torn chairs, filthy windows and curtains, filthy corners and skirting boards, and the whole room needed painted. There was NO housekeeping whatsoever. The staff were friendly, but they couldn't make up for the dump they work in. Stay away.
Better get a travelodge better not bother.
From arriving at reception till we walked out which was less than 30 mins. It was a complete disaster. Staff were unhelpful, room was not clean, bed with hairs, stains on towels, mould on windows, dust on shelves. Tv did not work, requested another room but they said they were fully booked so asked for a refund and told there is no manager on duty to do that and they can't call the main manager as she is on holiday. Tried next day with website and got offered a free breakfast next time we book for our troubles. Better get a travelodge better not bother. NEVER AGAIN.
Mean-spirited and money grabbing!
This company do not care about repeat custom and are happy to rip you off rather than try and help if you make any errors with your booking even though it would cost them literally nothing to help!
Needed to try and change my booking to one of their other hotels but rather than charge an admin fee they instead charged me for the whole original stay that I couldn't use. No empathy or common decency - will not be booking any of their over-priced and depressing rooms again.
Used Travelodge many times in the past…
Used Travelodge many times in the past for our overseas clients however very disappointed and will not be booking again. The Asian lady at reception was very rude. I understand Wi-Fi is an extra charge but the problem was her rude attitude and unfriendly tone, which made the whole check-in experience unpleasant.
My client does not speak good English, so I stepped in to help. Instead of being patient or understanding, the receptionist told me off for speaking too loudly. This was completely unnecessary and unprofessional as I am hard of hearing.
She then proceeded to stand up in an aggressive manor and shout. As I walked back away from her hostility, she continued to step forward as If she was trying to intimidate and harass me.
As an employer myself, I would consider such behaviour completely unacceptable and immediately dismiss this woman from the company for her lack of basic courtesy and threatening behaviour.

Stayed at Whyteleafe Caterham and very disappointed
The bed was awful, every time you moved or rolled over the noise was horrible! Hardly slept a wink and for £140 per night, total rip off
Incredible reception team who go above and beyond!
The reception team at Travellodge Chiswick are incredible! My daughter and I recently stayed here and she was dismayed to discover on the train home that she'd left her teddy in the room! I made a frantic call to the reception team and they were wonderfully polite and helpful, promising to alert housekeeping asap so they could look out for it! I thought it was a lost cause but two weeks on, a package arrived with none other than my daughter's lost teddy and a lovely hand-written note! The smile on her face was priceless when she returned from school. Thank you reception team for going way above what your job entails to make a difference.
Incidentally, the hotel was spotlessly clean, safe, and all staff impeccably polite! It's in an amazing location to visit London too. I will be coming back!
The company is hopeless
The company is hopeless - just follows its own procedures with no interest in the customers. I had to extend my stay - they forced me to change room and refused to store my luggage for the day while I was out because they are " contactless". Forced me to carry heavy luggage around with me all day. Totally useless, huge cost and no service because they are "contactless " and they give more priority to their procedures than serving their customers.
Newquay
Newquay. The staff were friendly but there was a problem with the access cards. We had the disabled access room but the beds were the smallest, hardest single ever...not clever as most disabled people need more room to turn over/catheter bag rails etc. We had a large veranda window, but the balcony was FILTHY - mould/weeds/old loo roll/a plastic car mat and bits of seagull. Old bird poo on glass. Stain on carpet. Unable to lower heating from 20*. Never again.
Horrific
An horrific experience at the Farringdon London Travelodge , which culminated with me not having a bed and having to get a taxi across town to sleep on a friend's sofa. I booked a room and breakfast and the App was so unclear it booked on a future date. The staff at the hotel couldn't work the App either. They axctually had a vacant room, but couldn't amend the booking.- or even book me into the empty room as computer said the place was full (it wasn't) The AI chatbot didn't work. they told me I could speak to a human on the customer service line to ask for a refund. That was not the case -I just got bounced about the auto phone system. The staff were trying to be helpful- but let down by a dire system and a culture of contempt for customers. I know I'll never get that money back and the taxi fare late at night was an additional £60. Just changed a booking at premier inn. was very easy as there was a human on the phone. Traveloge is truly awful and the sad thing is no one there even cares...
Stayed over night .done the reg number…
Stayed over night .done the reg number for parking 2weeks later got a fine thru the post. Wwent back to the hotel they told me that they had .records of our stay.so parking company had better get me to court.they can go .....themselves. and then iam going for coasts not to mention the reviews
STAYED IN TRAVEL LODGE 13TH SEPTEMBER/RUSTINGTON WEST SUSSEX
STAYED IN TRAVEL LODGE 13TH SEPTEMBER FOR ONE NIGHT, WHICH WAS ENOUGH. ROOM WAS DIRTY, TOILET LOOKED AS THOUGH SOMEONE HAD DIARRHOEA WITH SPLATTER UP ON THE TOILET TILES
TV WAS SMEARY WITH FINGER MARKS, AND THE HEADBOARD HAS A THICK LAYER OF DUST. £200 A NIGHT WOULDNT GIVE 200 PENCE. OH & THE TV ONLY HAD ONE CHANNEL. NEVER AGAIN
If you are disabled don't go here! Central Ipswich.
I wouldn't even give this one * if given that choice.
I booked this hotel - Central Ipswich for 3 nights. An updated hotel and as the name says near Central Ipswich. Both my husband and I are disabled and wheelchair users. The rooms may be very accessible - but we don't know. I couldn't open the fire door - so we were told we would not be able to stay there. They quickly offered us another hotel about 5 miles out of Ipswich. However, this was not suitable - I knew because it was one I'd rejected on my search. There was no wet room which we needed, there was no restaurant and we would have had to drive everywhere due to the location. Getting in and out of the car constantly is very tiring for us. We had to turn around and drive home. Still waiting to hear from Customer Services and a direct complaint made to the hotel. How can a hotel be accessible when the fire doors are too heavy to open. When I contacted a number given to me by the hotel reception - it was the wrong number - although the member of staff was very helpful. However we had been classified as a 'no show', when we did show - but they couldn't offer us what I believe we paid for - an accessible room. This must be a way of sweeping problems under the carpet. The deputy manager on duty at the time was so quick to say 'you can't stay here' it was obvious this was not the first time this had been an issue. I doubt we will get our money back - reading the reviews on this site. Nor will we be refunded for our travel costs and a wasted day. If you are a disabled person, especially a wheelchair user - do check out the fire doors pre booking. I suspect that all the updated hotels will have these heavy fire doors. The others do not necessarily have many other facilities.
Never using them again
Never using them again - please don’t get shafted by their non-saver rate rooms!
Like many people these things start off with all good intentions…I booked a room in good faith to attend a Post Malone concert in London for the 6th September. If £300+ for 1-night in a Travel lodge wasn’t bad enough value for money, imagine finding out several hours later there’s a flipping tube strike so they cancel the concert and it leads to losing my room and a large chunk of money.
Call x1 - I explain the situation and see where I stand to cancel, e.g. if there’s a cool off period or something as it was a few hours if that since booking it. Told effectively it’s tough-sxxt but I can move it to a different date later and btw if I don’t do that in 24 hours or so I’ll lose the room and what I paid anyway. Which at that point there was no other date to move it to so I left the call fed up.
Call 2 - called back as a few hours later they’ve announced a rescheduled date. Thinking common sense will prevail I’ll just rebook and move my room to that date - only to find there is no rooms available! FFS!
Unlike other normal hotels when something come up out of your control they wouldn’t bat an eyelid at offering to refund or move your room to one of their other hotels near by -Travel lodge don’t like that approach to customer service or ethics - they offer nothing. They like to quote their inflexibility about its all in the T&Cs. I hate this from companies! I understand the point around preventing ppl booking rooms and cancelling last minute and the obv ramifications of that which is why most take a deposit. Their stance however is awful business practice, no understanding, or empathy towards the customer. Refusal to grant an act of goodwill in situations out of the customers control when listing the unforeseen extenuating circumstances.
These are perfect opportunities to do well and great fans of their business where I would be putting a 5 star rating and telling friends and family how well they looked after me and get repeat business - not now.
I chose this hotel because it had parking and my partner wouldn’t do AirB&B. Yes I should have been a boring (gold fish) and done my due diligence? Even though Ive not used public transport for many many years why would it have crossed my mind oh what if they go on strike??? I go about my life like most ppl and just want a room for the night and bite the bullet being over charges for that to boot.
When I called the second time I had to move the room regardless of none being available so I didn’t lose it - I then find there’s a £12.50 rate to do that which wasn’t mentioned on the first call!
Thinking on the off chance maybe just incase I could sort it. They won’t even refund the damn breakfast which nearly £7 for some what they offer in comparison to similar places like premier in and holiday express this is another lesson learnt. I can get more for a fiver in a corner shop. lol.
Please avoid this company, if you have no other choice but to use them - please don’t use the Saver Rate it is nothing like saving. I didn’t have a full price option when I booked it was the last room they had and they won’t let you even pay the difference to get a normal rate for a different room etc it’s total inflexibility and purely done in a way that it works fine if all is well but the minute something happens go get your lube ready you’re going to get B….F…. By a very greedy and sneaky business policy.
Oh and don’t waste ya time with customer service or even complaints. They’re useless too and just recite the same BS. They don’t even care if you’re disabled with health conditions. That impact your reading of terms either so minus points for your lack of accessibility too TravelLodge.
I’ve learnt what you can argue is an avoidable issue and my lesson the hard way so you don’t have to.
(And a final note rant - If you are a tube driver on strike I hope you slip in dog poo and catch a skin eating virus! I have since learnt why they are striking because anything above 35 hours a week on their grossly overpaid wage is too hard for these poor souls to cope with and finding another job because there’s is to hard for them is beyond their comprehension because it’s not printed on the ticket sir!)
Travel lodge Walsall 👎🏼
Appalled to find that after I had booked 6 nights for a beauty course across the road from Travelodge in Walsall I had to cancel due to personal circumstances only to find that the whole cost of almost £400 won’t be refunded not even a penny.
Apparently I should have chosen a ‘flexi’ save and then would have had a better chance of getting a refund.
I will never book with these again. Terrible
Noisy all night homeless people shouting. Did tell reception who didn't care
