Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 130 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people encountered significant product issues, including unreliable batteries that struggled to hold a charge and various design flaws like faulty components or unexpected leaks. Customers also frequently reported poor service quality, citing unhelpful customer support, unresolved problems, and a lack of communication regarding repairs or recalls. Reviewers often found staff to be rude, dismissive, or lacking in product knowledge, leading to frustrating and unsatisfactory interactions. However, some customers also noted satisfaction with the overall quality and reliability of their vehicles, with some models exceeding expectations over time. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that specific dealership staff members were very helpful, courteous, and efficient, providing excellent customer service and going above and beyond to assist them with their needs.

I bought a Toyota Yaris Hybrid Excel on…

I bought a Toyota Yaris Hybrid Excel on 01 Sept. 2024. I took my car for service to my Toyota dealer Steven Eagell in St. Albans for the first service on 07 Aug. 2025 and everything mechanically is in order.
On 08 Aug. 2025 I suddenly saw a long crack internally from top left corner of the windscreen all the way down to the bottom right corner causing obstruction to drive. I contacted Steven Eagell St. Albans to check this defective windscreen and rectify immediately as it is dangerous to drive. Steven Eagell St.Albans suggested that I should contact my insurance company. Subsequently I submitted a complaint to Toyota UK on their official site and my complaint was acknowledged but nothing happened for the past four days.
Steven Eagell St.Albans service department is pathetic. It takes so long to get connected to them by phone and when someone answers and puts through to talk to someone it gets cut off.
Steven Eagell St.Albans sales team who sold the car to me is not interested to know about problems such as defective windscreen. Not to mention they do not return calls and/or reply to my email messages diligently. It is a well known fact that Toyota Yaris 2024 models have defective windscreen problems as evident by many reviews on the internet.

Don’t touch Toyota!

Surely the worst car company ever! I have a new Toyota Yaris Cross and it’s already refused to start twice! It’s now in one of their garages waiting to be fixed!!! Three days so far! I was given an Enterprise car for 48 hours via Toyota Assist, but now nothing available via the dealership! I’ve paid out a fortune and currently have no car! They can’t even tell me when I MIGHT get a courtesy car! This company needs to buck up its ideas and deal with customer complaints. I urge everyone not to buy this car! They know there is a battery fault but are not recalling them to fix the issue! Disgraceful!

Seeking legal advice.

Did a part exchange with toyota online April 2023. The vehicle i sold them they drove it through a no emissions zone September later that year and hadn't taken my name of the vehicle. Eventually after being passed around they paid the fine a year later. Fast forward to today. Law enforcement contact me. The car then drove through a toll over a year and a half later so late 2024 and unpaid. The fine was now over £500 with me being completely unaware and on its last resort before a warrant for seizing my assets was sent out August 2025. Spent the entire day back and fourth with toyota head office and law enforcement explaining the importance of this fine to be paid the same day and for them promising me it would for them to last thing before closing to try and get it squashed even though that falls heavily on me the innocent party. Now the warrant for seizure of assets is out toyota online supposed to open at 9am still closed at 9.40 and thrown their customer under the bus. Do not do business with toyota online. Absolute shambles. The stress levels are through the roof.

The little things matter!

I had my car Yaris serviced at Toyota Rayleigh. I ticked the box for no sales to contact me. So I was contacted by a sales guy called Namz. I explained to him. I lost my £ shopping coins they give you. When you buy a car. Previously a guy said no. Only when you buy a car. This guy. Said he could sort it out. But he did not. I think because he could not reach a sale. If I tick the box for no sales. It beaks . Data protection act. It’s the last time. I discuss a sale.

Regret

Overall, wish I'd gone to a different manufacturer. On the positive side, the staff at Tamworth are nice, and I've not had a problem with car. However, the services are ridiculously expensive, and you need them to keep up the warranty and value on the car for when the PCP completes.
They try to upsell at a massively inflated price, bombard you with pointless marketing somehow, even after opting out and unsubscribing. The car is alright but has a bunch of irritations that are just silly, like you can't pause or mute from the steering wheel, the built in sat nav is rubbish, the Android Auto feature is a frustrating interface. I should have walked out of the showroom, very much looking forward to ending this contract. They got me because I sat down and waited, and I needed a car pretty quickly.

Listening to a couple of salesmen today, I'm struck again by how sales people generally are dishonest. They're not looking at what's best for the customer or how to help them get what they're asking for at a reasonable price, they want to push finance and extra costs. I think I'm going to avoid dealerships in future, they take the mickey.

Excellent support, service and customer relations

It is with sadness that I am returning my company vehicle - Toyota RAV4. I have been delighted with the car - complete reliability and performance. A problem free 5 years. I would like to commend the excellent service received from SLM Toyota, Attenborough. Having had a company vehicle for 30 years, this garage has been the absolute best. I would like to make particular mention of Mr Andrew Waters. He is the face of SLM Attenborough and one they should be proud of. Consistently helpful, cheerful and willing, always going beyond the expected. I will know who to come to for my personal vehicle. Well done to all at SLM Toyota. I shall miss you.

I have a Toyota C-HR bought new in 2024…

I have a Toyota C-HR bought new in 2024 . It is built with a starter battery which is totally inadequate for the car . When left for 14 days when I went away on holiday the car battery was flat when I returned. Toyota acknowledges they have a problem with the Yaris and change the battery for a more powerful one , but donot do the same thing for a C-HR . There advice to me is to drive the car more often , to recharge the battery ( how do you do this when on a cruise?) !!!
Further more , and probably more dangerous , my car has on a number of occasions reported a "system malfunction" . When things like the lane keep assist stop working . My local Toyota dealer has failed to identify a fault and told me to continue driving the car , and to bring it back to them if the warning repeats itself...

Disgusting customer service at Sandhurst . The worst I have ever experienced. After 7 years of continual not ringing back, a service dept I don’t trust I think I am ready to trade my beautiful car in for anything else but a Toyota . Sad because the Yaris is brilliant sadly the service is not !!

Fantastic company to deal with.

I can not fault the personal service I received from Richard Janes at Norwich SLM Toyota Norwich. No hard selling, just listened to what I wanted and contacted me as soon as he found my dream car, which I’m over the moon with. He brought car to my house for me to test drive and delivered my car to me. He went through everything with me very patiently (not that I remembered it all 🤣) he did not rush through anything, including the paperwork and did most of that himself for me. He also reassured me that if I had any questions or concerns to just ring him. Thank you Richard for making my car purchase easy, much appreciated.

Warranty T&Cs not worth the paper it's written on

Purchased an approved used Toyota Rav 4 Excel AWD in July 2024. Fast forward to May 2025 and the engine management light intermittently comes on so take it in to my local Toyota dealership. Turns out the catalytic converter is faulty after 5.5 years and 47000 miles.

Apparently exhaust components including the catalytic converter aren't covered by the additional warranty. I contacted Toyota regarding the approved used warranty mentioned in there T&Cs and how all manufacturing defects are covered. Two weeks later they replied saying i had the additional warranty and that part is excluded. No further explanation.

Be wary all that Toyota exclude many more parts in there additional service based warranty than other car brands approved used warranty. Furthermore they don't even abide by their own warranty terms and conditions. To top it off I had to pay £270 to diagnose a fault that isn't covered and will cost £2500 to rectify. Ironically the catalytic convertors in north America are covered until 8 years.

Purchased car from Toyota Kingston 2…

Purchased car from Toyota Kingston 2 years ago on finance. I was strongly advised to take GAP insurance which is a one off payment. I was going to decline but thankfully I did not. My car was written off and this gave me the difference between market value and the purchase price. Without this I would have been in the red. Toyota kept all the details and were incredibly helpful. Many thanks for a great service and advice. I am sharing so others consider this offer of insurance. Very important.

£700 to replace LED

Daylight running light failed and, despite the car being under warranty, I was charged £700 to replace the LED. Customer service totally unhelpful. Would strongly recommend avoiding. Reliability and cheap repairs were my main motivation for buying. Warranty can't be trusted unless you read all the small print.

I bought 2022 Toyota corolla from rrg…

I bought 2022 Toyota corolla from rrg salford Quays (Manchester) and service plan.they will not service as written in plan and now these days I have issue with my car. Which they claim wrong fuel but I have receipt and cctv video it was a right fuel in it always. Especially as they said last time. They are trying to break the warranty by wrongly imposing on me. Totally wrong and fake reports. They want 611 pounds for plugs ,drainage system and pipes. And hybrid battery comes on low life may be need change as they said in fake reports. And most funny thing is i did drive nearly 5 hours. It's all ripping off innocent people and scams them. They even not provide any curtesy car. And I am suffering with no work and routine schools drop off & pick up my kids. And you will never find any complain email address anywhere on website on their documents or any booklets.
Only one form online with fill in details and 1500 words. You can't contact management and ceo or higher directly what under them employees doing with customers, or it might be possible it all happens with their totally support and concerns involves in it.

Stonewalling experts

Issue regarding premature failure of rear suspension arm bushes @ 15k miles on used RAV4 which Toyota are attempting to charge me £900 to replace. Bushes should last 80-100k miles.

Trying to deal with Toyota UK and being totally stonewalled. Emails have gone unanswered and attempts to elicit callbacks are being ignored.

Quite shocked that a brand such as Toyota have such poor customer service. In the process of complaining to their head office team.

Good luck if you experience a problem and need help from Toyota UK.
