I was really disappointed with Tomahawk…

I was really disappointed with Tomahawk Steakhouse. The service was poor from the start. Staff seemed uninterested and disengaged, and we often felt like an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Simple requests took far too long, and there was no sense of care or attention throughout the meal.

The food was just as underwhelming. For a place that puts steak at the center of its menu, the quality was unacceptable. Our steaks arrived overcooked and dry, nowhere near how they were ordered. Overall, the experience fell well below expectations and didn’t justify the price. I wouldn’t recommend it based on our visit.

Terrible from start to finish

I’m really disappointed with my recent visit to Tomahawk Steakhouse. We waited over half an hour for our food, and when it finally arrived, everything was only just warm. The parsnip was rock hard, the chips were more like crisps than proper chips, and the side dish of vegetables was dry, burnt, and tasted like it had been sitting under a heater for hours.

A member of staff asked how our meal was when we had barely eaten anything, so we said it was “okay” at the time, but later raised the issues properly. Despite multiple problems with the food, they only took the beef dripping chips off the bill, which felt like a very poor attempt at addressing the situation.

We also had to wait another half an hour after finishing to even get the bill, and when I complained, the manager shook his head at me and came across with a really unprofessional attitude.

Overall, the food quality, service, and attitude from management were all extremely disappointing. I won’t be returning and definitely wouldn’t recommend based on this experience.

Nice experience

Went with a friend to the Tomahawk at Acklam Hall this morning, what a different experience from the previous visit. Staff as usual very pleasant, but everything on time , coffee and food first class and no waiting times. All round a much better experience, so credit where credit due.

Ruins the peaceful Saltburn beach

Saltburn beach sadly is no longer the peaceful place it was as this restaurant has nonstop extremely loud music blasting out .
No other venue in a city would be allowed to blast music at this volume and ruin the peacefulness for miles around.
We wanted to hear the Saltburn sea shanties group on Friday at 6pm but nobody could hear them because Tomahawk was blasting 80s songs at the most extreme volume.
Half the beach now has to put up with this extreme music all day and most of the night with no break. For the customers and staff the music levels must be at a point where their hearing is being permanently damaged

Male staff don’t wash their hands

Went to Saltburn-By-The-Sea restaurant, wish I hadn’t wasted £56. Male staff don’t wash their hands, I literally witnessed 2 young males who worked here come out of the cubicles in the toilets and rinse their hands under the tap for 2 secs with no soap and didn’t even bother to dry them they just walked straight out, so watch out folks because you might find you have human feces on your food.

To top it off, the chef here cannot make a Parmo to save his life, absolute abomination and it was falling apart into mush, he can’t be a true Teessider.

This place needs complete new management, ripping people off just isnt right.

Avoid

Went to the saltburn one tonight, had a nightmare booking as no one would answer phone or return voicemail. Service was average and 3 out of 5 had a bad stomach afterwards. 200 quid well spent at least i know not to go back

Do not order the sharing platter, total rip off

We come to Newcastle often from Glasgow and had seen some great revies for this steakhouse. Such a dissapointment. We ordered the sharing platter and had 2 cuts of ribeye that were inedible as it was basically just fat and gristle, no meat on there whatsoever. I am sure whoever got the other part of that ribeye steak enjoyed the meat. The flat iron steak was terrible, also inedible, full of sinew and very chewy. The waitress offered to take the 10% service charge off the bill however it was not her fault so we refused. No other offer of a discount or refund, it was very disappointing for £85. Such a shame

Take a big coat

Hi

My name is Terry Hogg, my 2 sons arranged for my birthday a visit to Tomahawk( Newcastle Quayside on Saturday 18th January as i have never been and i was so looking forward to the visit, however i have to say i will not be coming back as i was so disappointed with both the service and the food

In summary i have bullet pointed the salient issues we experienced on or visit below,

1, Temperature, both of the ladies in our party had to keep there jackets and coats on as it was so cold, i looked around the restaurant and nearly every female ( and some males i may add) , had kept there coats on ) which makes you less comfortable when eating a meal

2, 35 minutes after starter before we had our main meal, and with it being so cold, this made the time drag even further
I had to ask the manager where it was, he said it will be 5 minutes as we were the next order out that was due, and it was another 15 minutes after that. We seriously considered walking out by this time.

3, Food quality was really poor, 3 of us had the shredded chicken wrap things and the chicken was fatty and greasy/Grisly , very poor indeed and was terrible compared to Revelation de Cuba where we had eaten the previous night.

4,The Bill, The bill did not take into account the 2 for 1 cocktails deal and the fact some of our group had a starter and a main and some had a desert and a main and we were billed at the individual rate as opposed to the special deal

This resulted in the bill being more than £50 too much and as my sons did not want to upset me any further they went to counter and settled it, however they would not tell me the figure they settled on wit it being my birthday.

I would be greatly interested in your take on the points of concern raised before i post on Trustpilot .

Disappointed

Visited saltburn for daughter’s birthday . Booked for 12pm & had to pre order from lunch menu . No one acknowledged our pre order & just brought meals 45 mins later . All meals we ordered were with tripe cut chips but they came with fries . However waiter did bring extra triple cut chips . Venue needs some attention & the biggest off put was the amount of massive blue bottles flying around while eating. When quizzed the waitress she said it was because the doors were open . It’s Xmas Eve and hardly 30 degrees outside . Not a place until return too . High expectations due to the brand, very disappointed

Watch out for the service charge!

Had a gift voucher for £25. Husband and I went to Saltburn for breakfast in October 2024. Some confusion over where we could sit then young woman I assumed to be manager said we could sit in conservatory after all as tables were vacant for an hour. I had small breakfast, husband large. Food extremely disappointing. Everything overcooked, bacon, hash brown and sausage inedible (I imagine had been left on a hot plate forever)! Waitress/manager asked if all was okay, I told her food was not acceptable and I would only eat the egg and bread. She did offer to get me more which I refused as I expected it would be just the same. I really did not get the apology I thought was warranted but I did not pay for my breakfast or the tea and coffee we had. As the voucher was worth more than our bill we did not use it and decided to go another time to Middlesbrough restaurant. To be honest the breakfasts were edible but certain not value for money. My husband didn’t ask for the bill as people were going to the counter to pay. Husband was looking for a ‘tips’ jar at the counter and the young lady serving showed him where it was. She then charged asked him for £35.31!!! This should have been £32.10 - there was a SERVICE CHARGE added which we were not aware of until we’d left the building and only because my husband had asked for the receipt!! The young lady on the till did not even tell my husband about this even though he asked about the tips jar!!!! I don’t think there is notification on the menu of this. It should be made clear when paying not just printed on the receipt that its optional when it’s too late!! Utterly disgusted,

If I could score zero I would

If I could score zero I would. Came at breakfast for my birthday this morning before we went to cludini. I wanted the hash brown with brisket but without cheese. Despite being told everything was made fresh I would told it’s all pre mixed and I couldn’t have it without cheese so I went for a breakfast instead. The eggs were hard and terrible and the rest wasn’t great but I did not want to cause a fuss at that point as I was there to enjoy it with my friend who I hardly see. About 10-15 mins after breakfast two out of three of us were in the toilets for a not very fun time and this lasted over an hour. I let a waitress know. A guy came over and immediately launched into why food poisoning wasn’t possible. I asked if he was calling me a liar as myself and the other person are not we’ll know to each other and didn’t travel together. The only thing we had done together is eat and drink. He wouldn’t have it. I asked him to leave the table. After yet another trip to the toilet and the other person still in situ there I had googled food poisoning and found that it could set in quickly. Plus I knew it was something I had drink or eaten so I called him back over - yet again he was rude and defensive and finally apologised (kind of) and insisted he had the first time but hadn’t. He sarcastically told he would take my food off the bill. I said it was more than that as there were older people in and I was more worried about others getting sick but he was snide and told me that wouldn’t be an issue and people pull this all the time and he’s told by friends he has on their tables it’s not true. This made me feel even more unbelieved on top of how sick I felt, he also kept saying he couldn’t go into the toilets which made me feel of he could he would just to prove us wrong. I honestly contemplated leaving my “illness” in the toilet to prove how bad I was. It’s by for the worst experience I have ever had and ruined our escape room, and I’ve had to cancel plans I had afterwards with family as I feel so rotten - whatever you do. Don’t get food poisioning at yarm as you will be called a liar, threatened with staff coming into the toilet and be sick for the day - happy birthday to me

Rubbish...

Good Evening,

Previously viaited here 8 times we have been here tonight and would give it 1/5. The salad bar has always had a great selection for everyone. We opted for Wine and again, you can't really go wrong. HOWEVER... The meats tonight where not upto expectations or previous visits. The menu suggests 15 meats of which we were offered 6.... Lamb, Pichanha, Caramelised Pork, Belly Pork, Chicken Wings, Fillet Mignot. Just because we accepted them doesn't mean that we ate them. The Steak was literally still mooooooing in the field and the Pork and chicken was dry. We did advise this the our waitress Eve mid dining as she came over to check everything was OK. She said she'd mention this and then after this we were skipped from all other meat options despite seeing them go past us... We asked for the bill which was £122. I advised I was not satisfied and I'd be more than happy to pay for the vegetarian option plus our drinks. Another waitress went to discuss this with the manager and came back and said that the manager said we would have to pay as we ate a 'considerable amount'. I was absolutely insulted by this comment and then the 'MANAGER' arrived who literally got into an argument with my partner and denied everything. The manger acknowledged that we had been there multiple times but on this occassion denied that they were at fault. So so disappointing and very disrespectful. We didn't get the full experience and when mentioned mid dining we were avoided for the remainder of the evening.

I would like this experience escalated further than the manager 'Sean'. As I don't feel that he handled our complaint adequately tonight. Or that he is suitable to handle complaints. He was very confrontational.
