Very noisy, great food but not much of it.

Very noisy, the music was really cranked up causing people to shout over each other... (booking was for 6.30pm on a saturday & it was busy) Love a bit of music but it was hard to chat over dinner. Food was lovely but not much of it. We got 2 sharing platters (for 4 of us) One came out 15 mins before the other. Staff were lovely & very apologetic about the food timings.

Visited Tomahawk steak house on…

Visited Tomahawk steak house on Saturday 8th August for a bottomless brunch. Service was appalling and so was the manager who clearly couldn’t cope with the many complaints we witnessed. All she kept saying was “it’s busy”. Waited 30 mins to be seated passed our booking time, a further 30 mins for them to take our first drink order then a further 20 mins for it to arrive. It was terrible very poor service and a very poor manager and we won’t be returning. If it wasn’t for the food which was very nice I would of scored it -1.

Appalling service

Went today for a bottomless brunch, we booked it weeks ago. Our table was booked for 2.30 but didn’t get seated until 2.50 it then took them till 3.20 to come to take the order for the first drink. We had to wait around 40 minutes before they brought the first drink, I told them the service was appalling and that the 90 minutes wouldn’t be starting until then. They eventually came and took the next drink order and our food order. Our food arrived and we all ate it before the second drink came and then it was 2 drinks short, it was 4.25 by this time so I asked to speak to the manager. The manager then came over and apologised saying it was the system’s fault for booking to many people in so I explained that I booked over the phone. I told her that they shouldn’t offer a bottomless brunch if they couldn’t accommodate it. She offered us 30% off to start with then changed it to 50% off, we weren’t the only group complaining it was absolute carnage. The food was really nice but it was let down by the service and the poor management. I will not be returning.

Waited seventy minutes for food

Waited seventy minutes for food. Other people had been served before us. Wasn’t particularly busy. Kept asking where the food was and constantly told it was on the way. There were three of us so there were bigger groups than ours. The booth where we sat wasn’t very clean either. They took the service charge off. Awful place!! Won’t be going back

Tomahawks Saltburn

My wife and myself visited Tomahawks saltburn 7pm last night, just a walk in not booked. We eventually decided to sit outside and were given menu's. We decided to opt for the 3 course for £25 as it looked a good deal.
Our drinks came and starters soon after. We had both ordered the rump steak as mains. My wife stipulated that she needed hers well done, in fact very well done as she cannot bare any redness in her steak. Both steaks turned up mine as medium rare as ordered. When my wife cut into hers blood juice came running out. She cut the steak up to see if any of it was edible to her as she hates to complain. The rest of the steak was exactly the same. I said I would complain but she asked me not to. So she put the steak to one side and attempted to eat some chips with the salad but the steak red juice on the plate made her feel a bit sick. I finished my meal and we put our plates to the side of the table. They stood there for a good 30 minutes at no point did our waiter return. Eventually the lad collecting glasses asked if they were finished with and took the plates away. We waited another 10 minutes for the waiter as we had ordered dessert. When nobody came we decided enough was enough and went inside to complain and ask for the bill. Our waiter offered to take 20 percent off the bill. At this point my wife said we had only actually had 2 starters and one main meal so should only pay for our drinks and the one £25 the waiter said no it was 20 percent only and he would go and get our dessert to take away. We paid our bill and left. Never to return

Checked prices online before going

Checked prices online before going. We were a group of six celebrating a birthday in York. Online the price for the flat iron was £14.95 and the shared plate £79.95 at lunch time during the week.
Arriving there I was disappointed to see the prices were completely different. The flat iron was £27 and the shared plate £86. If the price had changed and there were other offers the menu online should show the right ones. Unfortunately I won't be returning.

Very poor experience at the Saltburn…

Very poor experience at the Saltburn restaurant on Saturday. Orders were taken promptly and drinks received.. little did we know the food order had not been passed on! Nearly an hour and another drink later did a waitress come across to apologise for the wait and explain through a snigger that our food order had not been passed onto the kitchen in error. She asked if we'd like another drink on the house, despite clearly being able to see we had just been served new ones. So she offered to wipe them from our bill. We were told our order would be made a priority and be with us very soon. 10 minutes later, another waiter came to ask if we'd accept a free cheesy garlic bread for our wait. We accepted, but that was eaten and gone for another 25 minutes before our meals actually arrived - clearly not a priority! Sadly, when they did, the chips were soggy and cold, the steak over, and they brought me the wrong side!! That was corrected quickly but nonetheless added to a catalogue of errors on the night. The worst thing was, we were not alone... the restuarant was full of families and tables having very similar experiences to ours. Will definitely not be going back.

Customer service at its worse god help them in the real summer !

Not sure what's going on at the Saltburn branch. We were handed our menus and after 20 mins I popped in to see if anyone would take our order ! The manager took my order and 20 mins later we finally received our drinks. 20 mins after that he popped out to tell me that they did have my order in stock ! At this point he advised there was an hour wait for food and then proceeded to tell me he told me this when I ordered. We would never of stayed if that was the case He offered us a complimentary drink which never arrived. The food finally arrived over an hour plus later both the calamari and steak was cold. After over 90 minutes we finally escaped their clutches. This was not a set meal it was 3 small dishes !

Absolutely outstanding experience at…

Absolutely outstanding experience at Tomahawk Beverley. The sharing platter was exceptional — beautifully presented, full of flavour and cooked perfectly throughout. Every element felt high quality and really well thought out, making it ideal for sharing and trying a bit of everything.

The Pinot Noir was also excellent and paired perfectly with the food. Smooth, rich and very easy to drink.

What really made the evening though was the fantastic service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive and professional throughout, making us feel genuinely welcome from start to finish. Nothing felt too much trouble and the atmosphere they created made the whole experience even better. Will definitely be returning and recommending to others.

Thought we would give them a try today

Thought we would give them a try today. Tables and chairs not wiped down and were covered in food. Misreable staff that didnt seem to careless. Shouldnt be working there if you cant be bothered. Food was terrible. Worst chicken burger and chips I ever had. My lasses steak had barely any flavor at all. All in all terrible experience and wont be going there ever again.

Not good……

Booked a table for Mothers Day at Saltburn restaurant.
We weren’t offered drinks before ordering and had to ask for them. Food was ok but nobody checked, wife had to leave table mid meal to order more drinks from bar. Ordered sides which had to re-request twice, had to ask for cutlery as well.
To top it all, bill came and was overcharged by £80 (£240 instead of £160) AND they had the cheek to add a 10% service charge without asking.
Sorry but won’t be returning.

Poor quality food and service

We visited Tomahawk Durham last weekend for Bottomless brunch. My Parmo was raw! Mentioned to a female member of staff who said, thats just how they come! She eventually agreed to change it. I asked for a well done steak, which came out half well done and half pink. I sent an email complaint with photos to the email address the restaurant provided and didn’t get a reply. Wont be using this particular Tomahawk ever again.

Really poor- bad food, high prices

Really poor. The lady who was waitressing was nice enough but the food was absolutely terrible, like the type that you think about later and makes you feel sick. Had to send my meal back once, and I’ve never ever done that before- then when it come back it was just as bad but I had it since my family had already finished. I asked if they did a kids menu, she said she could just modify for us and then just give us less and charged the same. I told them how awful our experience had been, and they still charged us full.

Front of house need process improvement.

Visited today after booking a table in Saltburn. Food and drink ordered. Drinks were brought to the table within 5 minutes. After over an hour I complained that other tables that had come in half an hour after us had been fed and finished.
Apparently something something with the ticket but the food hadn’t even been started.
Only had 2 hours on parking (short stay so couldn’t extend) so by the time the food had been cooked we’d have been wolfing it down. Ended up leaving.

Mistakes happen but this is systemic. There were no checks from staff for drinks top ups or even if we were waiting for anything. Basic front of house checks.

To add insult to injury, instead of Tomahawk lunch ended up in a Wetherspoons as that’s what the kids ended up picking as an alternative. Sad face emoji doesn’t cover it.

Newcastle quayside

Newcastle quayside

Pre ordered food so didn't take to long food was nice but the service was terrible waiting 15 20 mins for drink plugged in heaters on floor which tripped over (health and safety)
We were in group and had service charge of 105 pound which was disgusting which was probably the worst part wish I knew now we could take that off but there was nothing on booking or stated when paying about this charge been once and would advise people to try elsewhere if you want good service staff flying all over with food managers arguing it wasn't a good experience SERVICE CHARGE pfffffft

Quayside

Quayside, Newcastle Gateshead.
We had a table booked for a family's 40th birthday. There were quite a few of us so we had to pressurise book our meals, we waited quite a while for drinks although the food came pretty fast because we had already ordered it. I cant knock the food as it was lovely but the service wasnt great. When we asked for the bill it took a while to come and no one told us we had a service charge on. I paid my food ans left as I had a taxi waiting but then the host was left with a washing 105 pout service charge which we weren't told about. Transparency is everything, if you make people aware there is a charge on first. Also our consumer rights say we dont have to pay a service charge especially if ghe service wasnt great. We will not be back in a hurry .

Would give 0/5 if I could.
Booked ahead for son's 16th birthday. My son chose this restaurant as we had visited last year snd had a good experience. What a mistake, regret not reading reviews.
There were five of us eating at Newcastle quayside. Table was not ready. Restaurant very busy. Waited over 15 mins in bar area with staff squeezing past us and a few other parties, carrying food.
Got to table, five of us squeezed onto a table for four. ordered and waited over 15 mins for drinks and 1 hour 20 mins for food. Waiter apologised and said it was restaurant week.
We were offered a round of drinks on the house.
Waiter forgot table water, acknowledged this and still didn't bring any. Some arrived after we had eaten.

Could have overlooked the long wait had the food been of a good standard.
Steaks were not cooked to how we had requested.
Chicken shawarma was lukewarm and grisly.
Wagyu burger had bit of lettuce in, that's it. Very dry.
Prawn taco was a taco shell identical to an Old El Paso supermarket hard shell taco. Inedible.
Garlic bread, thick, hard, burnt base with no flavour.
After such a long wait, we just ate what we could and left.

Our table was squashed in corner over fire exit, very drafty, whole annexe at side of restaurant had no ambience like main restaurant, very cold. Kept coats on throughout. Portable heater plugged in did nothing.
When I mentioned to waiter he said they had a problem with the electrics that day.
Only one mens toilet working and door lock broken.
Ladies toilet, waitress ran in and was vomiting in cubicle while another comforted her from outside.
Do not waste your hard earned money here.

Honest review

Walked in and was seated all seemed good, ordered drinks pleasant staff, and thats where it ended wrong drinks were delivered to table and we waited 1 hour 30 mins for our food order we weren't the only one several other tables were very verbal that they had been waiting well over an hour for food when our food eventually arrived it's was very poor and not very warm, the so called scallops were six pieces of scallop no bigger than a kidney bean, 4 prawns we had were cold the calamari was disgusting. The steak was over cooked, we put a complaint in to the waitress but this was never followed up and no one came back to speak to us, Then the bill arrived with a service charge of £28 pound which we had removed. I wouldn't recommend

When we entered the restaurant we were…

When we entered the restaurant we were told we needed to be served quickly one hour 15 minutes later food arrived. The food was lovely but the service was atrocious the waitress was clearly unhappy no customer skill's what's so ever. When we ordered desserts her face hit the floor she was rude and very abrupt on serving the desserts we were told we needed to be quick as the table was needed for the next sitting who were waiting to be seated. We received the bill and on inspection we noticed they had put a surcharge on of £31.11p we would have gladly paid this if the service was up to scratch but unfortunately it was not. Totally spoilt the night of my friends 60th birthday
