The Hay Shed Reviews 

I've reviewed three stars not one, because my bunnies love the Green wheat hay. HOWEVER, despite my communications with the company a few weeks ago, The Hay Shed are still selling boxes of so-called Super Forage with large chunks of apple and carrot. Rabbits should only be be fed small portions of dried fruit as a treat. This Super Forage is equivalent to a human Superhealthy box of Broccoli -mixed with Mars Bars. What do you think your kids would scoff enthusiastically?? The serious difference here is that an over rich diet can be deadly for rabbits. Their diet should be 80% hay. Rabbits will selectively eat the yummy stuff and not eat enough hay which (in a short period of time) could cause obesity, gut problems and most seriously, stasis. Dental and gut problems are very common problems from not eating enough hay. A lot of inexperienced rabbit owners/guardians are not aware of this. I have 20 years experience of having free roaming rabbits and am a trustee of a registered rescue charity.

The bunnies are really fussy when it comes to hay, but they both love the hay from The Hay Shed and delivery is always really quick. I know I can order just before running out and the hay will be delivered in the next day or two.

Checkout experience hasn’t been great, the subscription journey isn’t clear and hasn’t worked for me. Furthermore DPD delayed the delivery, delivered on a day I wasn’t home and then I had to collect the parcel from a local hub.

Amazing hay, the bunnies love their subscription of hay. They really enjoy the Oat hay. That’s a treat to go alongside the Timothy hay. Thank you for the most delicious hay.

Would highly recommend. Best quality hay I’ve purchased, even our vet has commented on the quality and asked where I get it. Works out cheaper than buying pet shop hay and far better quality. Being able to subscribe has taken the thinking and effort out of it. The treat/forage bags are a lot more affordable than pet shop bought items. Also, nice to know we’re supporting a smaller company. I’ll never buy my Timothy hay from anywhere else, The Hay Shed is genuinely unmatched. I’ve been buying from them for a good 6 months now if not longer and they never disappoint.
I have two guinea pigs who beg for hay every day and eat every last piece!
The quality of their hay is 10/10, I buy their Timothy hay every 2-3 weeks and it’s so long and green, honestly other brands just don’t compare.
Their customer service is also brilliant, any problems or concerns are dealt with efficiently and compassionately I do not have a bad word to say about them!

We came across The Hay Shed at the National Rabbit Festival in 2024 and they had a great pick and mix deal on. We bought some samples for our 3 buns and after they had scoffed the lot in minutes we made our first online order. After trialling a couple of options, our dedicated hay connoisseurs told us they preferred the Green Wheat Hay. We love it because the strands are so long it's very easy to clean up if it gets on the floor. They love it for the long strands that they can just keep munching and munching without going back for another mouthful as many times. Lovely green colour too tells us it's packed full of the good stuff. Our buns would not be impressed if we went back to getting hay from anywhere else. We do bulk orders of hay and add in a couple of forage mixes and treat bags too. Would highly recommend trying their hay for your small pet! We've also used The Hay Shed to send hay to rescue shelters in need. It's a great initiative to help rabbit and small animal rescue get the supplies they need.

Have been buying hay from this company for a few months now, I am really pleased with the quality of the different hay, both my buns give this company a thumbs up, great value, fresh smelling long stemmed hay, next day delivery and the boxes when empty make great tunnels, hide places and leap on ledges that keep my buns entertained

I have 13 guinea-pigs who have been enjoying their fresh , tasty hay for the last 6 months . The delivery problem over Christmas was quickly sorted. I have it delivered every 4 wks, good system. Just tried the oat hay , well worth a try!

My guinea pigs look disappointed when they're given hay which is not from the hayshed! I'm sure it's the only hay that is truly dust free as well. Always good quality and fast delivery. Had a delivery mix up due to courier error recently but it was quickly resolved by Ian when I contacted customer services. Otherwise, extremely reliable and great value for money per kg compared to some big pet shop chain stores!

Amazing quality hay. Green, long strands, clean and smells lovely. Very informative website and fast shipping. Good deal for subscribers which I really appreciate too ;) Definitely I would recommend!
