Zero transparency

Zero transparency in billing. The website estimated my out of pocket cost through my insurance would be $20 - $40. Actual bill was $430 for a single appointment. They prey on people who need help.

What a mistake to call this company I…

What a mistake to call this company I was looking for a psychiatrist and as it happens, I was able to find one by recommendation, but this company has been harassing me and I mean, literally harassing me. I am paralyzed and 83 years old and today at exactly the same time between four and 408 my back doorbell, which I can't monitor except my phone rang and rang and rang and rang and rang and rang, and then my phone started ringing and they called twice on the phone leaving no message. I did a star 67 and called back to call anonymously and it was them so they were calling me on the phone ringing my back doorbell and notifying me and every possible way I asked them to please stop this and yet they continue stay away from this company if this is how they operate and if this is how they try to help people who are not well what they do is enough to make somebody want to do away with themselves. It's terrible.

Dr. Peter Szeibel

Dr. Szeibel is kind and attentive and friendly. He is a great listener. After one session I trust him and will continue my treatment with him.

Cancellation 15 mins into appointment

It took me about 2 weeks to finally seek help. I scheduled an appointment 1.5 week ahead of time. My appointment was canceled 15 INTO the appointment. I was logged in waiting when they called to cancel appointment. They should be held liable along with the psychiatrist for lack & negligence of medical care.

Scammers

I was told I was covered by insurance. One week later I get some astronomical bill. The therapist was terrible. She interrupted the session multiple times to answer her door and take phone calls. I was billed for services that weren't even provided to me. I will never deal with Talkiatry again.

Horrible experience.

Horrible experience.. First website set up multiple accounts for me and I was receiving conflicting emails. Customer service reps were obviously foreign at a call center and not always comprehensible. I finally found a good psychiatrist and had 2 productive sessions with him. My third session was cancelled by Talkiatry because Dr. Petetit was not in the network. They were supposed to vet this fact before my first appointment but they obviously didn't. They sent me the name of another provider who took my insurance and then they also sent me a confirmation that my appointment with Dr Petetit was in one hour. I called them and cancelled all appointments. I'm in treatment because of anxiety which was definitely exacerbated by Talkiatry.

Run do not walk away from this company

If there were no stars I would go with that. They cancelled my appt 1 day prior to the appointment. They cancelled the 2nd one two days before my first appointment. I waited 3 weeks for my next appointment and when I called today to verify it they could not find it. Run do not walk away from this company. I never got to speak with any therapist. When u r having mental health issues the last thing u need is to get the run around. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL

Billing scam

The online intake is super easy and they send you an email stating that you are covered for care. This misleads you to think that your appointment is covered, not that you are simply within network. As many people have pointed out an initial appointment is $800 and at no point before your appointment do they even hint at what the cost will be. I did not receive anything from them before or after my appointment stating what I would be charged, I was just automatically billed $427 to my credit card as the "insurance adjusted" price. I attempted to call their billing department and they stated that they could not refund my credit card. Even in the realm of healthcare this is the most shady practice I have ever seen. In what world does a virtual visit cost more than what I have paid out of pocket for a local in person therapist ($160 by the way). Absolutely a scam of a company.

★☆☆☆☆

★☆☆☆☆

I genuinely do not understand how this company is allowed to provide psychiatric care.

I have called almost every day trying to get a very simple problem resolved. Every time I call I am either told something that turns out not to be true or told that the problem belongs to somebody else.

I need my medication renewed. They tell me they'll renew it. They don't.

I call back. Now I need lab work.

Okay. What lab work?

Nobody knows.

Why do I need it?

Nobody knows.

Who does know?

My psychiatrist.

Great. Can I talk to her?

She's out.

I have called so many times when this woman is "out of the office" that I am beginning to think she is a merchant seaman.

So I ask if I can change psychiatrists.

And THIS is when the company suddenly discovers a passionate interest in my continued mental health.

I get this very serious warning telling me that stopping my medication can cause severe withdrawal symptoms, suicidal thoughts, potentially even death, and that I need to seek medical treatment immediately if I cannot access my medication.

YES.

HELLO.

THAT IS WHY I AM CALLING YOU.

I have PTSD. I am attempting to seek medical treatment. YOU ARE THE MEDICAL TREATMENT.

You cannot tell someone, "It is extremely important that you do not lose access to this medication because you could literally die," and then put them through a customer service labyrinth where the prize at the center is another person telling you your psychiatrist isn't working today.

This is insane.

Not me.

THIS.

I am actually starting to feel like the most mentally healthy person involved in this transaction.

The call center blames the psychiatrist. The psychiatrist can't be reached. The prescription can't be renewed because I need lab work. Nobody can explain the lab work because I need to talk to the psychiatrist. I can't talk to the psychiatrist because she's out. I try to change psychiatrists because I can't reach my psychiatrist, and the company warns me that changing my treatment could be dangerous and I should immediately contact a psychiatrist.

I AM TRYING TO CONTACT A PSYCHIATRIST.

THAT'S HOW WE GOT HERE.

At this point I am leaving the service specifically because I have taken their medical advice seriously. Apparently uninterrupted psychiatric treatment is extremely important for someone taking this medication, and I would therefore like to receive my psychiatric treatment from a company where locating the psychiatrist is not one of the diagnostic criteria.

One star.

Insanely expensive if you haven’t met…

Insanely expensive if you haven’t met your deductible. i expected it be 150-200 dollars in total and that i would be informed of this. i was wrong… For a 30 min conversation with their psychiatrists they charged SEVEN HUNDRED AND TEN DOLLARS!!!! oh and was just a random charge to my card. no notification of a bill on the app. Nothing. Did not offer me payment plans. no notice in the mail. I work at a medical office and we inform all of our patients with their upcoming bills and offer payment plans! we have never charged a patient without their knowledge and for such a high price. GO TO YOUR DAMN PCP FOR THIS BECAUSE BEING CHARGED THAT AMOUNT OF MONEY MAKES ANY SANE HUMAN BEING HAVE DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY

I cannot say enough great things about…

I cannot say enough great things about my psychiatrist!! He was kind and friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. Being a recovering addict, I have seen so many psychiatrists over the years and I have had so many bad experiences that it almost made me want to just give up on ever getting the right diagnosis/treatment plan that would work well with my recovery but also treat the underlying stuff that never got treated. Nathan has been great!! He has never made me feel like "just another addict" and he helped me find treatment for something that should have been diagnosed a long time ago! For the first time in my life, I feel like I am finally getting the right treatment and that feels great!!
The only negative thing I have to say is that the billing department is kind of a headache to deal with and their response time is kind of nonexistent. I have emailed and called and I still haven't heard back from them about my bill and my insurance stuff! But other than that, I have had a great experience with Talkiatry!

I feel scammed by this organization

I feel scammed by this organization. They told me no costs for my appointment. I submitted my insurance to them and received an email saying I was covered. I noticed two weeks after my appointment that my credit card was charged for almost $400. When I called them they said based on what I discussed with the psychiatrist that the insurance decided this is what was owed. THEY DISCUSS YOUR THERAPY APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR INSURANCE PROVIDER TO DECIDE HOW MUCH IS COVERED. I feel scammed. This company is wildly unethical and taking advantage of people financially who are reaching out for help with mental health issues. This should be illegal. DO NOT USE TALKIATRY.

Thank God I read the reviews BEFORE…

Thank God I read the reviews BEFORE going through with this. 🙏
I’m already dealing with several health issues, so the last thing I need is more stress or unexpected expenses. I was told my insurance would cover the appointment, but when I decided to cancel, they told me I would have to pay a $100 cancellation fee.
I explained to the receptionist that I would NOT be paying a cancellation fee when I had literally cancelled less than 10 minutes after making the appointment. 🤦‍♀️
Thankfully, I trusted my gut, read the reviews, and avoided what could have been a huge headache.
Thank you to everyone who takes the time to leave honest reviews. They really do matter!
