Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 552 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Consumers frequently reported unexpected, extremely high charges and very frustrating billing practices without proper transparency or advance notice. People also mentioned that customer support was extremely difficult to reach and completely unhelpful when attempting to resolve various account problems. However, some customers also noted that their individual healthcare providers were exceptionally kind, attentive, and professional during scheduled virtual sessions. Reviewers additionally found that the online platform made initial appointment scheduling, communicating with staff, and receiving necessary medication prescriptions much more straightforward and accessible for everyone involved.

I was excited to make an appointment…

I was excited to make an appointment with this company because they employed medical doctors rather than nurse practitioners to prescribe medications. However, my Medicare comes with a supplement, which I pay for BCBS, however their app would not allow me to put the secondary insurance in as everyone else's does... It's a given. Instead they asked me for a credit card. And I thought oh... I'm going through this with two other companies where I get my GLP-1 medication. Between these two companies I have a $500 floating around out there that I never authorized but they say I owe. I'm really tired of this kind of behavior so I will go and do reviews on those two when I'm done here. But after reading your helpful experiences I thought better of keeping this appointment. It breaks my heart I'd rather see a real doctor but sketchy as f...

Unsatisfied with everything involvef

The Dr. I chose seemed ok on 'paper' but my experience with him was awful.
I felt invalidated and insignificant.
Every communication from the site felt phony and like it was generated by a bad AI.
After a single 40 minute televisit that I was EXTREMELY dissatisfied with, I sent an email saying so.
I received an odd-sounding reply saying how the "Discharge Process" can be difficult for some and they try to ensure a "Smooth Transition".
I Laughed Out Loud! The "Discharge Process" was me closing my laptop and the "Transition" was what exactly?
I started the short televisit sitting on my bed, in my room, and finished it exactly the same way! Very bizarre. I laughed SO hard when I read that preposterous automated bs of a reply!
Don't go there for anything.
Use a therapist IRL.

I was able to make an appointment within a couple days the doctor I chose was more than willing to help me find ways to cope with my ADHD. It’s very convenient with no doctors visit and the zoom is so easy.

Was told that they accepted my insurance and that I would only pay my copay. Never once was I told that I might have to pay anything else. Not once was it ever mentioned. Not even a heads up email that they were going to charge me almost $400 because of the way they bill. The total was $710 for a 45 minute phone call. I would NEVER have consented to that if I had known or been made aware.
They also cancelled my first appointment less than one hour before it was supposed to start. If I had done that, I would have been charged. Was the doctor? Of course not.
This company is trash.

I have a referral from Kaiser…

I have a referral from Kaiser Permanente. I called Talkiatry (during their Sunday hours) and they said that people with Kaiser are handled by a different department which is not open until Monday. I feel like I am being treated lesser due to my insurance which makes no sense from a company that claims to "prioritize you".

This has been very convenient for my work schedule. They are always concerned about my well being and make sure to listen to any concerns that I may have. Also very easy when it comes to need my prescription refilled.

I was very skeptical

I was very skeptical because this was advertised on social media. Since my appointment, that feeling has changed immensely. I felt heard, I felt that I was allowed to be vulnerable. The doctor took her time to explain everything. Including how and why my medications work. They matched me with the perfect doctor. And I look forward to my therapy sessions as well as future visits with the doctor.

I was working with a doctor and poof he was gone…

I was working with a doctor and all was going good. Day after an appointment I received a text that this doctor was no longer taking my insurance.. not even 24 hours.. I am on medication and I am left out in the cold. They did have this very young doctor setup appointment..SHE without discussion has decided that I need to stop my medication after 35 years of taking. It's allowed me to navigate life. And 3 years of being a doctor knows everything. Trust doesn't come easy to me. Move to a new state was with past doctor for years.. 10 minutes and she has me figured out. I wouldn't trust anyone at this place..

Grateful that I Discovered Talkiatry

I was able to meet with a psychiatrist in a couple of weeks instead of waiting for months regarding my suspicion of lifelong, undiagnosed ADHD. My psychiatrist really listens to me and did a thorough assessment. She is very collaborative and has worked with me to develop an effective treatment plan. The whole process has been efficient with very good communication. I also needed to call customer service one time and they were able to accurately answer my questions regarding insurance.

DO NOT USE TALKIATRY

I went to Talkiatry for a first-time psychiatric intake and ended up with a $683 bill ($499.56 after insurance) for a roughly one-hour telehealth appointment.

They billed TWO services: an E/M visit plus 59 minutes of psychotherapy. I did not receive a separate psychotherapy session. The appointment was overwhelmingly an intake/evaluation, and approximately 10–15 minutes were spent dealing with technical issues (which their own records acknowledge).

They nevertheless continue to insist that 59 minutes of psychotherapy occurred during the appointment, while simultaneously claiming the extensive psychiatric history, assessment, medication discussion, lab orders, and treatment planning all fit into only 12 minutes of E/M time.

That does not remotely match my experience of the appointment. I actually had to ask when I would get a chance to ask my own questions because the intake questions and technical problems took up so much of the appointment.

I’m now having Cigna independently review the claim.

The problem isn’t just that Talkiatry is expensive. It’s that I don’t believe the services were accurately represented to my insurance, and their responses have done nothing to resolve that concern.

If you’re considering Talkiatry, I would strongly recommend understanding exactly how they bill before booking.

Tried to sign in for initial appointment

Tried to sign in for initial appointment, was surprised that I wasn't informed that there was an initial questionnaire and need to put in reason for visit, med list, even vital signs-- really, you think I'm sitting with a blood pressure cuff and ability to check my pulse? (I have a cuff-- would have had to go get it- but this was a televisit.
Got connected with the psychiatrist, he could not hear me and I could barely hear him. He ended the call. I stupidly thought perhaps he was trying to reconnect, so I did the same and then tried via phone and via MAC. The message I was getting was to wait, provider would connect soon. But I found the Talkiatry phone number- called and found out the psychiatrist had cancelled the appointment. So, not planning to reschedule. Will find another option. I know that tech problems happen, but it would have been nice to have a call from the psychiatrist or office that the appointment was being cancelled or more effort to get the appointment to work.
