Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the pricing and payment practices, frequently citing unexpected and high charges for appointments, even for initial consultations or sessions where no substantial care was provided. Reviewers often felt overcharged, with some receiving bills far exceeding initial expectations or advertised costs, leading to frustration and financial strain. Some people were dissatisfied with the customer service, describing it as unhelpful, unresponsive, and difficult to get clear answers from, particularly regarding billing issues. There were also instances where customers felt the service was unreliable and poorly managed, with issues like dropped calls and lack of assistance when needed. What a joke. Turns out, if you actually need anything, you have to see a psychiatrist in-person. This is no different than those online minoxidil or glp-1 factories. I'm honestly disgusted. One questi... See more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Absolutely abysmal prices. I had two meetings, both 45 mins long and I got hit with a $713 bill after. I have Aetna insurance, one of the insurances they take and I was going to get accessed for ADHD and other mental health diagnoses. I was thinking that the co-pay would be around $30 like the website said, but instead with insurance applied, I got a $713 bill. Without insurance helping at all it would have been $1,260. How is an hour and thirty minutes worth that much money? Beats me.

DO NOT GO to Talkiatry for help. They did get me a prescription fast, but it was definitely not worth the convenience. Go to a in person doctor and save your time and money.

If I could give Talkietry ZERO stars I would.

If I could give Talkietry ZERO stars, I would. I received an email saying that my insurance would cover the cost of my visit. I pay a $30 co-pay, typically. I received a bill that was OVER $300.00 for an INTAKE appointment. I provided my information during this phone call and was told I would be matched with a therapist. How was this OVER $300.00?! Ridiculous. SCAM ALERT!! Do not trust Talkietry. It is a scam. Seek care elsewhere. I repeat: SEEK CARE ELSEWHERE.

Talkietry is now threatening to send me to collections because I haven’t paid this outrageous bill.

I feel taken advantage of and scammed. I am absolutely disgusted with this company that promises to “help people.”

Dr. Shiao and Talkiatry

Dr. Shiao is extremely intelligent without talking down to you. She is highly knowledgeable in her field while at the same time she is very caing about my feelings and needs. I trust Dr. Shiao completely with my care.

This site is a scam

This site is a scam. I was approved without them checking my specific insurance plan and when I messaged them I recieved automated responses. So I called and attempted to cancel. But they threatened me with a $100 fee. Finally after getting cut off and calling back multiple times they canceled. I then get a message that it's been rescheduled with a different therapist with out my permission or approved. I had to call back and re-cancel an unauthorized appointment I didn't even make. They are happy to take your money but have zero care for mental health or your wallet.

THEY cancelled my first appointment and…

THEY cancelled my first appointment and tried to bill me $100. I had to reschedule and take another day off work. When I went to the virtual waiting room nobody ever came. A half hour later I called talkiatry and their voice message said "all agents are on break. A waist of time.

Provider cancelled TWICE

Provider cancelled TWICE - I was in need of a medication refill because I have moved to the area and do not have a primary care provider (the soonest I can get an appointment here in Vermont is 4 months out from now) so I signed up for talkiatry.

After choosing the soonest available appointment two weeks out, I received an automated text message stating that the provider had cancelled the appointment and offered to reschedule, the soonest appointment being two weeks out from there. At the new appointment, I waited for 25 minutes in the waiting room at the appropriate time and then received a phone call from a care coordinator saying that the provider was having internet connection issues and would need to reschedule it again. Next available appointment.. two weeks out again.

Psychiatrist might be good. Company no Bueno.

Psychiatrist might be good, but I wouldn’t know because I couldn’t get that far. I needed to change the time of my appointment but couldn’t figure it out so I scheduled a new appointment and plan to cancel the old. I booked the new appointment, it changed the time because the therapist was in a different time zone so now I had two appointments that I couldn’t make and couldn’t figure out how to cancel them. I then had to call, she cancelled the one and I was trying to explain that I needed the other one changed but then she told me I hit yes on the intake form that I had been previously admitted when I hadn’t been (an error on my part) that she says could not be changed. Now I could not have any type of appointment with this company for six months instead of letting me correct my error. This company does not have a good set up for service.

Customer service actually blocks you…

Customer service actually blocks you from being able to use this service because they are INSANELY bad. The worst I have experienced in my life. I spent 40 minutes trying to book an appointment before I had to just give up.

DO NOT CONSIDER TALKIATRY

Hello to everyone who’s reading this review. Please take it very very seriously if you decide to give this company a chance. My advice to you. DON’T!

My demographic is that I am a 76-year-old, white – Jewish female, who was considering using this company for the first time.

I tried, including this morning, five times to get through to a United States representative and each time I called I wound up with someone in the Philippines who refused to transfer me to a US representative until I gave them personal information. When I explained that I am new and I would give this new information about myself to the person in the United States, they still refused. I’ll be honest when I tell you that I ended each conversation by saying FU multiple times because I was so frustrated.

My advice to anyone reading this review - DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

No one should be deprived of the opportunity as a US resident to speak with a US representative without having to give personal information to someone in the Philippines. It is outrageous and HIPPA regulations protect our privacy against giving information out to someone we are not directly doing business with.

If anyone else has experienced the same experience as I have, it’s important that you write it here on this site so everyone knows that there are other options out there to choose from.

Asking for help with therapy is difficult enough. Starting out the journey is not easy and it’s filled with anxiety. Having to come up against what I have as many of you have with this company, is outrageous. It is obvious going forward you’re never going to be able to speak within an American representative without having to go through someone in the Philippines. That to me is a game changer for anyone who is looking for therapy and needs to speak to someone immediately.

We as Americans should be able to have contact with the US representative without having to go through a third-party.

There are other avenues out there where you actually can get to a US representative. No one in the Philippines has the right to ask you for your information beforehand before transferring you to a US representative. That is a HIPAA violation of your rights to privacy.

Remember that, and keep complaining to this company and encouraging people to move onto to somewhere else.

Providers, do NOT use them — you’re better off doing it yourself or hiring a $15/hr assistant.

I cannot recommend Talkiatry under any circumstances. Providers, do NOT use them — you’re better off doing it yourself or hiring a $15/hr assistant.

All I needed was a simple form sent to my pharmacy. My doctor completed it, sent it to their “medical records team” — which may not even exist — and now it’s been sitting for days.

I’ve called every few hours. Every rep reads the same script, leaves the same useless notes, and can’t transfer me to anyone who can help. Their “escalation” process? Up to two weeks. Two weeks… for a form.

Meanwhile, I’m without my medication.

This company is broken. No accountability. No urgency. No support. If you’re a provider, using this platform will hurt your patients and ruin reputation. Don’t believe their 24/7 patient care availability, it’s all BS.

Talkiatry is a complete waste of time. I’d rather pay my doctor out of pocket than deal with this level of incompetence.

Do not use Talkiatry

Do not use Talkiatry. There is nothing special (or even average) about the care they provide (my doctor was pretty weird and unfriendly), their customer service is absolutely non-existent, and they will POUND YOU with surprise bills several months after your visits, after you have any ability to cancel them. Beware.
