We were delayed getting in to Holyhead due to high winds but have to compliment the staff on how they handled the situation.

Whole experience couldn't have went better. Great service, great staff.Boat and toilets very clean. If I had to be negative at all I would say the cinema could be warmer cause it is quite chilly in there and the sound could be louder in there too. But bar that great experience.
Very Comfortable and very expensive.
Efficient and extremely comfortable trip to Holland and back the following evening. Lovely cabins. Efficient showers. Snuggly beds . Lovely pizza on board with a reasonably priced delicious glass of wine. Staff were incredibly helpful. All in all a 10/10 experience. The negatives!..It was incredibly expensive ( over £500) to take a car and two of us over to collect my daughters belongings following a split. Would I do again!.. probably but there are much cheaper ways to travel.
Travel lepaja travemunde
I realized already at the start that the journey would not be easy. The lady at reception harshly scolded me for arriving only an hour before departure. The thing that bothered me the most was the fact that even though I had booked a shared bedroom (in the description it was written "possible sharing") I had to travel with 3 people, presumably truck drivers, all smokers, and in the room it was impossible to sleep and breathe because of the smell of smoke they had on them. I highly recommend that, if you're sharing a room with a partner, you assign rooms, especially considering smoke-haters.
A reliable way to travel.
Smooth check-in, comfortable cabin, and friendly staff. A reliable way to travel.
Great service. Helpful staff.
Used Stena Line for the first time this month and and so impressed with the service and the vessels. Traveled from Ireland to UK return. Also was on one of their smaller vessels (which was chartered by DFDS to Jersey).
Staff on all vessels were courteous & helpful. Staff I’ve dealt with on their customer service calls (Passenger and freight lines) are great to deal with too.

Havent even travelled yet and the experience has been poor. Just a warning for anyone looking to redeem Tesco vouchers against their fare, Stenaline have special Tesco Voucher prices that are more expensive than the regular fares, so the £150 worth of Tesco vouchers i was hoping to redeem only saved me £120
The worst ever
I am travelling in stenaline for last few months more than 6 trips. Every single trip the ferry takes off late and still they demand the foot passengers arrive on 9.30 in morning or evening. A minute late they wouldn’t let you in no matter what even if they are late by an hour or two. I almost lost my job because of this and stenaline staff said they have nothing to do about it and the matter is out of their hands. I really like any other ferry services to start the business as Stenaline is hopeless.
Great customer service
We had some tricky travel plans we needed to organise when trying to get our car back from the Netherlands. We spoke to Charlotte who went out of her way to make it happen for us, liaising with the ports and keeping us in the loop the whole time. Great customer service, everything went to plan and the overnight crossing with our 5 year old was super easy and comfortable. Thanks for your help. Charlotte
Cairnryan belfast since the last…
Cairnryan belfast since the last time I traveled back home I've lost the gold members bit for some reason , theres zero reason to travel with stena now , and the only reason I do is because I hate p&o more than stena, thousands spent over the last 30 years going back and forward on the dearest stretch of water with zero deals now, there just taking the Mick with prices. Time for another cheaper ferry crowd to start up and break the monopoly of stena and p&o,
Its nearly as cheap to fly there and back and hire a car
Certainly the uk goverment and useless Northern Ireland executive need to be looking at this. As its not working for people price wise , dover to Calais 5 day return dfds 139 quid stena for cairnryan belfast 5 day 325 quid
first ever time travelling as a foot…
first ever time travelling as a foot passenger holyhead to dublin. booked ticket online 5 mins b4 gates closed. bus from terminal to ship and we were on b4 most car passengers. nice friendly staff on ship.
Great customer service
A few days ahead of travelling, I thought I had made an error in my booking through the Caravan & Motorhome Club but wasn't able to contact C&MC for 24 hours due to it being a weekend. I rang Stena and spoke to a lovely lady called Karen who was completely brilliant, reassured me that there wasn't an error and helpfully logged all our pre-travel API information. It was only a brief touchpoint but Karen has saved my Sunday and meant that I wouldn't worry about this all day.
Sure is not Premium
On the 2.30 am holyhead to dublin, the stena lounge prices keep goi g up but getting less and less choice, there is basic bits and pieces being offered, crisps/pretzels/few cakes. Wow a lot of money for basically nothing, always been my go to ferry company, think time to go back to irish ferries see if they are any better, very poor stenaline
Robot workers
Booked the ferry in advance and was assured over the phone multiple times that booking of freight passengers is limited to two people and to phone to book another slot as the online services limited the booking to one
After being thrown between different numbers I had Phoned and was told this was not possible, after having had the conversation with two Stenna Line employees before this confirming that I could book in as a third freight passenger after booking online
Then have had to wait 5 hours away from the removal crew I am with because of their incompetence and lack of communication
Everyone at the harbour expressed their confusion as to why the website (and what you may call people) working at stenna line are unable to give any type of straightforward answer
I would rather call these ‘people’ that work at the call centres nearer to robots as they don’t give any help and just keep passing you from pillar to post with differing answers that never match up
First and last time we use Stenna Line. With this abhorrent service I can see why they have the rating they do
Stena Line Customer Services Are Dead
Up until 6-9 months I considered Stena Line to be an excellent company to travel with and travelled with them often. Things have changed. Corporate greed seems to have taken over, the first casualty of which is of course customer service. My experience with them when I was booked on the 4:30pm Stena Estrid sailing from Dublin to Holyhead on Saturday 21st June illustrates what I mean. The following happened:
a) After everyone had been allowed to board an announcement was made that the ship would not be able to sail because of engine trouble and everyone had to disembark. However, I had traveled on the same vessel 8 days before from Holyhead when the sailing was delayed due to mechanical problem. It appears they knew there were problems with this ship but continued to sail it anyway until it could sail no more regardless of the huge inconvenience this would cause to their passengers.
b) They initially told us that we would not have to wait any longer than 7:30pm for the next sailing. This was not at all accurate. There was no 7:30 sailing and the prospect of being able to travel with Irish Ferries instead was of course nil. The next sailing was not until 10:35pm which meant I did not get home until 4:00am instead of 10:00pm.
c) Having disembarked with our vehicles they then made us queue up in the roads around the harbour for 3 hours before we could get back onto the dockside where refreshments and toilets could be had. The reason for this delay, on what was one of the hottest days of the year, was because they only opened 2 booths to re-process all the vehicles again. The obvious thing to do was to allow everyone to drive back onto the dockside and re-process them there. This, however, would require them to consider the convenience of their customers which appears to be beyond them.
d) Having caused this chaos they then failed subsequently to voluntarily contact us to offer any kind of rebate. Instead I had to contact them whereupon I finally managed to obtain a paltry £92.
e)The announcement to disembark was sudden and unexpected. In the rush to comply I left behind a jumper valued at no more than £40 on a seat in one of the lounges. I contacted Stena Line for its return but they claimed it had not been found. I asked them to reimburse the cost of the jumper as it would not have been left but for the chaos they caused. They refused. Since their refusal to refund £40, I have travelled to Ireland 3 times, but not with Stena line, which means they have lost out on at least £1000. How very logical of them!
I recently booked a pet-friendly cabin…
I recently booked a pet-friendly cabin with a beautiful window view on Stena Line, and it was fantastic! The cabin was spotless, very comfortable, and perfectly designed for traveling with pets. Having such a lovely view made the journey extra special and relaxing.
It was wonderful to have a space where both my pet and I could feel at ease — clean, quiet, and stress-free. The whole experience was smooth from start to finish, and I’ll definitely choose this option again for future trips.
Frequent traveller from NI to Scotland
Frequent Motorhome traveller from NI to Scotland. Average Cost is £480 return. The 3.30pm from Cairnryan was very slow boarding as I believe it was overloaded. We finally boarded. There was no seats available in any of the lounges. I got a seat with another family and my wife had to sit outside on the decks for the 2 hour crossing. I asked about the premium lounge and was told it was full. The cost to travel from Belfast to Scotland is very high but it's ridiculous when you cannot sit together in any of the lounges.
Excellent North Sea crossing
Yet again, we did the Harwich-Hook of Holland night crossing in both directions, and yet again, despite the ship being full, it was relaxing and well recommended.
The food (on the Hollandica) even seems to have improved - the meatballs dish was excellent.
Standing on the rear deck at Hook of Holland, before sailing, watching the sun go down, and the various ships pass by, while drinking a half-litre of Heineken (€ 5.60 - cheaper than my local) - it was almost the best part of my holiday.
Been travelling with stena regularly…
Been travelling with stena regularly for nearly 10 years, thousands spent bringing the car over and back. Being a gold member means nothing now. Particularly as the journey is more challenging now bringing a toddler, the slow boarding is a nightmare, we used to get on behind the premiums. Fair enough children aren’t allowed in stena plus but usually there is no availability for my husband to go either as they are probably more concerned with selling places than giving to gold members. No more half price cabins so no saviour there either. Used to love sailings, now dread it. Waste of money. Will try P and O.
