We were delayed getting in to Holyhead due to high winds but have to compliment the staff on how they handled the situation.

Foot passenger nightmare
Crossing was OK. But had to wait an hour to get off the ferry as a foot passenger. Absolute joke.
Please be upfront with your advertising.
We are submitting this review to pass on our experience, but also because we informed Stena of our concerns with our booking over 10 days ago, as they asked for feedback on our trip, but guess what - they have not been in touch with us.
We are not impressed with Stena Line. We bought 2 Premium tickets for a 4 week trip to Ireland knowing that we might have to return earlier for family reasons. So 2 Premium tickets at £528 return + Stenna Plus. So on Thurs 29th May we phoned Stena to change our the date for our return to Sunday 1st June 08.15. We were informed that we would lose our Stena + as the lounge was fully booked. When we originally booked our Premium Tickets, in big print it said you can change your return dates just pay an fare change which we did at £52, it did not say that you would lose your + Stena Plus, but more importanly it did not say that you would lose your Priority Boarding and Disembartaction privilige. Thus has really upset us, as we needed to get back home quicker. We arrived at Rosslare port, we were 1st in the queue at 5am, we were told at the kiosk that we no longer had Priority Boarding as we changed our dates, so being in a camper van we were in Lane E, so we were put on the ferry half way into floor 3. So upon disembarcation we were the last car to leave the ferry. We could not believe it. Please can you let us know, why you do not advertise that when you buy a Premium Ticket if you take up the option to change your dates, you will lose your Priority Boarding and your Stena ,+.

What a great crew this ferry has. Cant say enough good things about the crew on this boat. From the lads loading the deck to the Captain. There was an issue with a shuttle I was towing having moved during a rough crossing and the help I received on the car deck was great. The food is nice and fairly priced. The crew were on hand as we disembarked to wave good bye. Having travelled with Irish Ferries many times in the past, it makes such a difference to meet a group of people who appreciate my custom. I will be back !
Stena will NOT care about your complaints!
After a bad experience on Stena Lines "Christmas buffet" aboard Stena Germanica from Kiel to Gothenburg Nov 11th 2024, I sent a complain to Stena the next day. (We are long time customers, and usually also book the most expensive cabins)
Long story short: I have sent a total of 14 (!) Emails, both to Stena Norway and Stena Sweden, I have received 2 replies, both of them informing me that Stenas "administrative department" would get in touch with me. I have now resignated...
Stena have no interest in following up on complaints.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my negative experience with a member of your staff within the cafe on the top deck, the one before entering the Stena Plus lounge. The chap's name was Willen. I kindly asked for two rolls with bacon and two cups of tea as I had a friend returning with me back to Scotland, I asked if he could butter both sides of the rolls before placing the bacon on top. He replied that we don't do that, you need to do that yourself, it wasn't what he said, it was how he said it, and then it got worse. He proceeded to give me two rectangles of butter, and I asked for a knife, to which he told me there over there and then I asked him kindly to give me the rolls before placing the bacon on them to which he flung the two plates at me and the slid accross the counter at me. I said that was quite unnecessary and told him that on my outward journey, the kind lady had done this for me. The body language of this gentleman clearly looked like someone who didn't want to be there. I have been travelling over to Ireland now for just over 50 years, and I have never experienced this kind of service.
Inefficient to be polite!
Getting on the boat from Holland wasn’t too bad, the boat itself cost a bomb to be on for 6 hours & if a 6 hr crossing don’t test you, spending 45 mins to get through passport control once on the mainland certainly will. Just drive to/from Dover, it’ll be less painful.
Good service, professional staff
Recently travelled to Dublin with family from Holyhead. Good service great food on board, staff professional. Will definately use the service again.

Booted out your own cabin and stale burgers!
Keep in mind even when you book a cabin room you will be kicked out in the last hour of your journey so you’re left to roam the boat with all your luggage since you’re blocked from entering the car park on the boat till you dock. With airlines after you’ve landed they clean the plane they should do the same for boats surely? After you arrive then they clean the rooms? But ofcourse common sense doesn’t apply with this company. Another note is that if you’re thinking that you’ll receive a delious burger be warned that you’ll get a stale cold cheese slice 100% of the time not even slightly melted. Absolute sham. 🚫
Will travel with them again
Did a Harwich - Hook of Holland return trip with Stena Line and it was better than expected. Clean family cabine, complimentary mini-bar, very friendly and helpful staff, TV with good channels and comfortable voyage. The overnight schedule worked beautifully. I forgot something in the cabin on the way to Hook of Holland and although my return trip was in a different ship/ferry the very helpful stadd still managed to return my item to me on the ferry home. Intend to travel with Stena Line again.

We were intending to visit Ireland a few weeks ago however our granddaughter became very unwell
I contacted Stenna line and spoke to Gethyn Gethyn was very empathetic and gave me wonderful advice on how to proceed
We have chatted with Gethyn today and rebooked with a minimal cost for the end of August

I travel from Belfast to Liverpool and return. Always absolutely fantastic customer care. The staff have always gone over and above! If only this level of customer care was everywhere! Thank you to you ALL! Makes every journey a pleasure, cabin always spotless, the ship is always spotless and the staff approachable and extremely helpful!
Fixed charges called recliners
I booked what I believed were recliners, but unfortunately, they turned out to be fixed seating. These are not actual recliners—you can't sleep comfortably in a fixed seat, especially when you're stuck in the same position all night. A true recliner should be adjustable to suit your comfort, but these seats are rigid and non-movable. Very disappointing experience. It's misleading and unfair for the cruise to advertise them as recliners. Shame on them for deceiving customers. Booking reff: 92203129

Awful and borderline theft.
Big health and safety issue
Big health and safety issue. Passengers coming down moving escalator to the car deck. No staff monitoring this. People piling into each other at bottom of moving escalator as there was severe queuing onto the car deck. Very dangerous! When writing in, I was told they would put this for consideration! This should seriously be put for immediate action and not "consideration when looking at improvements and training".
Excellent, friendly staff and customer service
We will be travelling from Rosslare to Cherbourg for the fourth time we are using Stena line to go on summer holiday and I have to commend Stena Line for their outstanding customer service both during the booking process as well as on board their ships. The staff onboard have always been friendly and helpful. We have always felt very well looked after. I would like to especially thank Dave and his customer service team for all their help with this summer's booking as we've had two changes in vessels since we initially booked tickets for our upcoming crossing in September 2024. They have ensured that both amendments went through smoothly and have promptly answered my messages and requests.
Do not travel on Stena Horizon
Travelled on Stena Horizon as replacement ship on Holyhead Dublin route. Perhaps the worst ferry I have been on since the 1980s cattle boats. Atrocious vehicle loading and appalling disembarkation. Zero facilities on board and the Hygge lounge is awful with overwhelming engine noise exceeding 75dB and no ear defenders provided. Do not travel on this ship as it is dreadful.
We had 3 journeys from Fishguard to…
We had 3 journeys from Fishguard to Rosslare cancelled in a row. On Sunday 6th at 2 and then Monday 7th April at 2 and 1:30am on Tuesday 8th April. We just got a text to say crossing had been cancelled 2 hours before. We were already on our way from Wiltshire and had to pay for alternative accommodation. I had to ring stena line to see what we could do. We got a booking for the next days line. Again we didn't get much notice to say this journey had been cancelled too. I had to ring again to arrange another journey. We got offered 1:30am in the morning. I was reluctant as we had two young kids with us. This journey got again cancelled with a txt! This time though saying we had been put on a journey with Irish ferries at 2:45am at a different port. I felt really anxious at this point as driving through the middle of the night to another port and having too young kids awake through the night. Let's say.... Not a good time!!! We finally got across to Ireland Tuesday morning. Absolutely exhausted and Tuesday was ruined everyone was soooo tired. We were booked at centre parcs and they wouldn't give us a refund for the days/time we had lost. This was all Stena lines fault. We lost significant money/holiday time and cost us in finding alternative accommodation. I was hopeful that Stena line would contact us but no........ When I was trying to ring for alternative journeys one lady was lovely and understanding, another was so passive aggressive. Ruined our family time. 3 days of cancelled crossings.
