I had a very disappointing experience with Smileie.
About a year ago, I purchased their aligners. After several months, one of them didn’t fit properly. When I contacted them, they acknowledged that new impressions were needed, which suggests the issue was on their end.
The problem came when they told me I had to pay $50 to ship a new impression kit and another $50 to ship replacement aligners because I now live in Puerto Rico. That’s $100 to fix what appears to be their own mistake.
This makes no sense. Puerto Rico is part of the United States, and their website does not disclose any extra charges for shipping there. In fact, when I tried placing a new order using my Puerto Rico address, it clearly showed free shipping.
So on one hand they advertise free shipping, and on the other they try to charge you when you actually need support. That’s inconsistent at best and misleading at worst.
I was willing to work with them, but this feels like they’re trying to pass their mistake onto the customer.
Be careful if you’re buying from them, especially if you’re in Puerto Rico

Update: After I posted this review, Smileie responded publicly saying they had reached out with a resolution and asked me to reply so they could move forward. What they did not mention publicly is that, in their private emails, they repeatedly asked me to remove or update my Trustpilot and Google reviews before they would send the refinement materials.

To be clear, I am not refusing to update my review. I told Smileie multiple times that I would update my reviews once the matter was fully resolved and once I actually received the impression kit and refinement aligners. However, I will not remove or modify a truthful review before receiving the materials needed to fix the treatment issue.

This started because my original treatment was not working as intended and Smileie determined that new impressions were needed for a refinement. Then they tried to charge me an additional $100 in shipping fees to Puerto Rico: $50 for the impression kit and $50 for the refinement aligners. These fees were not disclosed when I purchased the treatment, and their website showed free shipping when I entered a Puerto Rico address.

After I left reviews, they said they would cover the shipping, but then tied the process to me changing or removing the reviews. In one email, they asked me to send a screenshot after removing or updating the review, and said they would then send the materials. Later, they suggested I update or remove the reviews once tracking was provided, even before the process was completed.

I refused to change my truthful reviews before the issue was actually resolved. Since then, I have not received confirmation that anything was shipped, no tracking number, no impression kit, and no refinement aligners.

Their public reply makes it sound like they simply offered a resolution and are waiting on me, but the private communications show a very different situation. I am still waiting for Smileie to provide the corrective materials without making review removal or modification a condition.

Dr. Jay was extremely helpful when it came to making the impressions. He explained it very well, gave very good examples and checked the progress each step of the way.

Dr. Arooj was very sweet, and made the process super easy!

Super helpful to have a video call to help with the impressions. I'm really excited for the rest of the process, so far support has been great.

They had great virtual assistance who were able to guide me along the process of making my impressions. I had failed on the first set they sent me doing them by myself. Thanks a lot again!

Dr J was great. The impression process is more difficult than I imagined though. Still a great experience so far.

Getting the molds correctly done were hard for me! Dr Jay was enthusiastic and patient and he had the teaching technique down perfectly. I got them right on my first try with him and am looking forward to the results!

The doctor I met was very helpful guiding me in my next impressions, I’m looking forward to receiving the aligners and beginning treatment.

Brett Arndt, the Smileie representative, was very good to deal with and very professional. He made the whole process very easy. I used SmileDirectClub for four years because the walls of their aligners were too thin. After each series, they had to send me a new impression kit and a new series of aligners. I’m probably one of the reasons they went bankrupt. Smileie, on the other hand, had better quality aligners. Their whole process and communications were excellent. In addition, the price was better than any other similar service. Consequently, I am no longer self-conscious about my teeth when I’m talking to others because my teeth are perfect. Thank you, Smileie!!

I gained much more understanding of what was needed for workable impressions. Dr. J's instructions and directions were easy to follow. This counseling was much needed as the written instructions are severely lacking.

Overall really great experience. My video walk through was super helpful getting the right impression. Once he realized I was a visual learner he had no problem walking me through what was needed. Only helpful tip was to place the timer where it can be seen. Sitting there with your mouth open feels like forever. If we see the time going by it can be helpful to know the end is near. Plus it helps to gage if we're going to slobber on ourselves or not. It's pretty hard to swallow trying to stay still. Overall great experience and made me kinda laugh at myself. 😅
I'm super excited to see when my sets arrive! I have high hopes for this company.

I am a 60 year old and I always hated my smile. SMILEIE was easy and fast. I'm glad I did it.

It would have been super helpful if they gave you the full video tutorial of exactly how to do the impressions instead of just explaining what the book says. Because I ended up going through two sets of putty just trying to get a correct impression before they just had me wait to do the video appointment where he explained it step by step. Otherwise Dr J was super helpful.
