I went in to the course extremely worried and anxious I would fail after seing how many books there were to cover, and then Steve came along… straight away he made me feel at ease ‘ryan your going to pass the course, listen to everything I tell you, and you’ll be fine’ so that’s what I done and sure enough I passed. He made it more interesting by adding some quiz’s in to it and getting the group to engage in group chats/activities. Steve represented SMAS impeccably and I can’t recommend highly enough the course. Not to mention meeting some great guys on the course. Thanks again Steve. Chubbs

Was mis-sold the SMAS accreditation via their larger company Citation. As we already had acquired Safe Contractor accreditation via another company we were advised that going down the "Deem To Satisfy" route would be much faster and cheaper for us as one of our clients required us to have the SMAS accreditation. The process was neither quicker or cheaper. The first member of staff who was our contact at SMAS left on maternity leave. The next staff member disappeared after a few weeks and then finally we had a new staff member allocated. The whole process was very long and protracted and nothing like we had been advised. I did complain that we were advised it was cheaper to go down this route, but unfortunately, rather conveniently the call recordings were not available for the period in question as the whole process had taken so long that it had gone past the timeframe of how long these records are kept.

We thought we were only signing up for a 1 year contract, but oh no it transpires that we had been signed up for 7 years with a price review every year. Unfortunately I was forced to close my business due to ill health (stress and extremely high blood pressure) but this company doesn't care about the fact I was close to having a full heart attack, they want payment of the full contract for the entire period to get out. This was when i found out we had been signed up for 7 years!!

Please do not sign up to this company or its other owning company Citation.

Thank you for your response both on this review and my other review regarding our membership of Citation. So far I haven't received anything from you since I paid over £17k to exit my contracts and doubt I will hear anything further. This is just your corporate response to make it seem like you care, when in fact clearly you don't. I await your response to me via email/call.

This was our first experience with SMAS LTD / Smas Worksafe and it was truly very positive experience.

Initially I got in touch with Phil Dark who explained to me the whole process of getting accreditation in details and answered all my questions in a friendly and professional manner.

The Assessor Mr David Saville was a type of a guy that everyone would want to work with, friendly, professional and knowledgeable, patient and there to genuinely help.

Overall they will guide you and help you gain the accreditation that you need and you can actually speak to the team including the assessor!

My company has used SMAS for our H&S accreditation for a number of years, and they continue to be the most cost effective, straightforward solution to demonstrate compliance in the construction industry.

SMAS have always been quick to answer any question we have, and everyone we've spoken to has been polite, knowledgeable and professional, especially our account manager Connor Fraser.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with the SMAS team. Adam was first port of call .He was at the end of the phone reassuring me and answering my questions almost immediately.He did not mind me calling as many times as I needed to throughout my assessment and was so helpful. It was a pleasure to get help from him as he was extremely knowledgeable and taught me a few things along the way .I also paid extra for extensive help with an upgraded package to have help with advanced important policies and this is where Erika was so helpful and knowledgeable.The turn around with the advanced upgraded package was a turnaround of 24 hours after submitting for the assessment. They kept to their word and obligations and advised and helped me when I needed to submit extra info and advised me every step of the way .I would say without any shadow of a doubt that SMAS are the best company I have found to be true to their word and professional in every aspect .The advanced package is fantastic and gives total peace of mind that everything is covered and nothing is left out . I have had a follow up call to check I was happy and if I needed any help on anything and I know next when it’s time to renew I will not need to worry as I will be well looked after and respected unlike other companies in the past that have not fulfilled their obligations and was no where near as helpful and dedicated as the SMAS team.Keep up the great standards from a satisfied customer once again !

SMAS is in my opinion within the SSIP umbrella the least onerous and the service is swift and of a high standard

Spoke to Jonny Prout this morning talked me through an issue on the portal was clear, concise, helpful and pleasant, great customer service from Jonny and SMAS

I honestly never find the time to write a review about anything or anyone, but after finding myself in need of some serious help Oscar Strachen a BDM at SMAS Worksafe Scheme really showed up.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to look at the health and safety processes, and concern over the time it takes to get it right. The level of stress I had attached to this was up there, along with all the other things that go hand in hand with running a business.

The first call I had with Oscar, he made it very clear that we were very working together on this. Putting all my concerns aside, we very much worked together to put our company in the best possible position to get out there and do what we do best.

If anyone reading this is hesitant to seek out a professional worth their weight in gold, rest assured you're in safe hands.

So much easier than all the other pre qualifications out there. Don’t bother with Constructionline CHAS or any other SSIP. These guys are practical and you can actually talk to your assessor to explain when things need discussing.

Best SSIP for contractors to complete in my opinion

The review was carried out very efficiently and with no delays. All responses were dealt with straight away

A very intransigent organisation that uses “T&C’s” as the means to enforce automated renewals and fees taken 6 weeks prior to the renewal date and doesn’t allow for any cancellation opportunity & subsequent refund…They are happy for you to cancel but will retain £700 of your money…small businesses need flexibility & large organisations should understand that we don’t have persons sitting on emails, when working as a bricklayer, I don’t focus on an email that says you have 5 days to cancel, takes the money on the 6th and won’t be flexible at all…very, very poor…be aware. Small business need to know how inflexible SMAS are I will be letting all my friends family and work acquaintances know of their underhand practices

A fairly simple process. Felt fully supported throughout the process

My start on the assessment was difficult, partly because some of the key information was not requested. The Assessor and his mentor were both extremely helpful and facilitated my delivery of the missing information very efficiently. Many thanks to all involved for their positive and helpful approach.

I work for a small solar business, and so finding the resources to go through a process like this can be daunting. We initially were with another SSiP scheme, who frankly, were useless. They never got back to us, didn't pick up the phone and provided near to no guidance. The difference with SMAS couldn't be bigger. They provided really useful guides for the process, gave us a dedicated employee who helped us through the process and regularly checked in with us to see how we were getting on. They responded to emails on the same day, were quick to pick up the phone and were genuinely helpful people. I'd recommend SMAS to anyone who's thinking of going for an SSiP accreditation, particularly small businesses with small workforces.

Excellent and speedy service . application submitted at approx 1pm and by 9am the following day had an email to say that we had passed the accreditation. Have been using SMAS for probably 11-12 years and they have always been very very good. Can Highly recommend them.
