Works, but could have better business practice
I've had two models of their hotspot devices: Solis model HS400000 and the Solis lite. I've traveled and used the devices in various states in the U.S., Mexico, Thailand, and Ghana. In every location, I was successfully able to get internet access. For the newer Solis Lite model, it took 5-10 minutes to find a connection. The connection speeds were decent enough for navigation and video streaming. As someone mentioned, the hotspot does work well, but it does not keep your devices connected for always on access. Example, if I connect to internet on my phone to the hotspot, put down my phone for a couple minutes, then use my phone again to access the internet, I have to reconnect to the hotspot again for internet access. It's a minor nuisance, but I can see this being useful so not to keep using up unnecessary data...maybe?
The other thing mentioned from other users would be the surprise auto-renewal. I've been victim to this as well. If you subscribe to one of their data plans and forget about it, they will continue to charge you, even if you didn't use ANY of the data before renewal. What makes this bad business practice is the fact that they don't notify you via the app or email when your subscription's about to renew. I contacted their customer service via the app and they said an email gets sent, but it sometimes goes to spam...So they know consumers might not see their renewal notification. ALSO, that email is just a notification when they've already charged you the auto-renewal, it's not an email warning you BEFORE getting charged the auto-renewal...
To make it even better (sarcasm), they do not allow refunds on "Data/Wifi Service plans that has been consumed. AUTO-RENEWAL FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE." Not the best business practice.
I will try to be balanced
I will try to be balanced. There is a helpline number …… 4
however the help they give is negligable, all I wanted was for someone to talk me through setting the app to ensure I bought and sold my energy at the best rate, what I got was somebody telling me they would send me a video so I could work it out myself and then when I asked questions they would sigh as if I was asking stupid questions and it was all too much trouble. Customer service…….0.
The app is not straightforward for anyone, especially if you are not computer savvy, which not everybody is. App……1
Whether the product is better or worse…
Whether the product is better or worse than any other i can't comment! However their 5 year guarantee means nothing due to the fact if you have a problem they have no engineers to come out to replace or rectify any issue's you may have. Their customer service whilst pleasant are of no use they expect you to rectify the problem , if I had the choice again of wasting thousands of pounds I would check with your installer that the product and company they use actually has mobile engineers who can rectify any issues you may have
Continues to bill after cancellation
This company continues to bill after cancellation. FCC MVNO division should investigate their billing practices. Customer service is a joke. Throw your hockey puck hotspot in the trash and move on. No wonder Sams Club was selling them at crazy discounts. 1gb of data evaporated in 1 day according to their system only running map app. Bill in dispute with credit card company. And this is just about $8.
watch out for unauthorized auto-renew
I turned off the auto-renew on the Solis when my home internet finally got hooked up and was surprised a month later when Solis turned it back on and billed me for another month of service, claiming I hadn't turned it off. Despite contacting them immediately they refused to refund the charge. Not happy with the shady business practices. BTW the hot spot works reasonably well but does not work to be left on for always on access - it shuts off every day on it's own, even when plugged in.
Working while traveling? Find another company
My connection drops continuously, and after spending hours speaking with support, running around my house moving my router to every location they could think of, and them running connectivity tests, the solution was to "move the device closer to the city center".
I am in Siena, Italy. This is not the biggest city in Italy, but it is a VERY popular tourist destination in one of the (if not THE) most popular tourist destination countries in the world. I live on the same street as the police station, McDonald's, Burger King, grocery stores, a gym, a furniture store, a home improvement store, multiple gas stations, and more. This router is advertised as a travel router, and if it can't handle this location, it definitely cannot handle any traveling outside of capital cities.
I used Solis while traveling in Europe…
I used Solis while traveling in Europe this summer. It was adequate but only worked sometimes. I ended up purchasing a sim card for a router which worked infinitely better. I cancelled the subscription in a phone call with a representative while I was trouble shooting the device. Several months later, when I noticed that they were still charging me $99 per month, I called the support line. The rep was rude and would only read me the terms and conditions aloud. This suggested to me that it's a practice of making it difficult to unsubscribe and continue to bill customers. Needless to say, I will NEVER patronize this company again.

I got my sky Rome orange hockey puck…
I got my sky Rome orange hockey puck solace device from Patriot Mobile or through Patriot Mobile. It works like a teenager, when it feels like it. It just took a crap on me tonight watching The Rockford files. I'm going to end up sending it back to Patriot Mobile telling them I want my full refund and at least half a month to a month of service refunded. I'm paying $100 a month for service and I will get with the Elon Musk satellite internet service SpaceX or whatever the hell it's called not SpaceX but whatever his satellite service. This is garbage this is garbage this is garbage. I need consistent Wi-Fi so I can watch the Blaze Network which I bought a subscription to I can keep up on my news and information and I can use it for my business. I have to have reliable service and this thing is about as reliable as a fart when you got diarrhea. It's a piece of garbage it's worthless and it needs to be beaten with hockey sticks until it's broken into a thousand freaking pieces.
Absolute horrible she bizarre customer…
Absolute horrible she bizarre customer service experience. My payment app auto populated the wrong shipping address. Within minutes I contacted their customer service to correct and was told it would be escalated. 4 days later I have been bumped from 4 different names- who knows if they are actual people- and no one has addressed my problem. I have spent $500 on a product that is going to a place no one lives and that I won’t be again for 3 months…..
Bad company, not helpful
They charged me even though I turned off the automatic renewal feature that is automatically turned on, then saved my payment method without my permission, the wifi service was poor and bad overall, very unsatisfied, the customer service were not helpful and this company wouldn’t issue me a refund even though the WiFi was so slow, my phone plan was faster than the 5g puck itself, yes I followed the direction of putting it near a window and everything else, and still bad wifi, it’ll depend on where you are but I had to waste hundreds of dollars on another service for the speed to be fast and reliable. They offered me a month because of the charge but I want a refund, I paid for a 6 month plan and didn’t even use it, waste of money and time.
Absolutely the most horrible customer…
Absolutely the most horrible customer service and product. Even their service team couldn’t get the unit to connect while in Europe, the UK or the USA. They say you’ll get assistance in 24-48 hours - 30 + days later they claim the never got the request. Then they promise to ship a new unit and 10 weeks later it still hasn’t arrived. It arrived the week after I went back to Europe for a month and I made other arrangements. Then they say “sorry this is out of our warranty period.” They should be appalled by their lack of service.
Customer Service and warranty support -25 rating
I have been fighting for almost a year to get the Solis replaced. Constant shutting down and losing signal. Troubleshot too many times, too many hours wasted on trying to get this fixed. Chat accomplishes nothing, they will troubleshoot for hours, for as long as you can last, and nothing will be fixed. Email, we are ordering a replacement, that department will reach out within 24 hours, 48 72 96 hours later, nothing. Reach out again, same timeframe, same result. They are waiting for the warranty period to expire so that they won't have to replace a $400 brick.
Unreliable service and horrible…
Unreliable service and horrible customer service. It takes long periods of time to get any kind of help or reply in chat and the cancellation policy can only be compared to theft. Make sure you DON'T throw anything away - including papers, instructions, the box ... etc. They charge for every item missing from the box when you try to cancel
This company is a FRAUD and a SCAM!!!
This company is a FRAUD. Do not buy from them anything.
I returned an unused and unopened Hotspot. The gift card that was purchase with got lost and I repeatedly asked not to process the refund on that card and they still did it.
Bad customer service that doesn’t speak English well, they won’t let you to speak to a supervisor.
Bottom line they stole $175 from me. I have never seen such a scam. This company is a FRAUD!!!!!
The Solis WiFi dongle failed in 2.5…
The Solis WiFi data logger failed in 2.5 years. Solis refused a replacement, mentioning accessory warranty is only 2 years.
This smells something designed to fail, immediately after warranty period. Stay away if you want to avoid unnecessary spend.

East Texas I‘m consistently getting 0.8-1.5 Mbps. mobile phone is 50x that
No connection in Cancun airport, I tried multiple times.
Definitely no good if you need to rely on it for work.

Beware
Beware! This company uses fraudulent payment methods and marketing techniques to hide payment information. I have been a customer for 4-years and everywhere I go, they don’t have coverage. I’m currently trying to cancel my service and 6-hours in I still can’t remove my bank draft payment. Beware!
