The quality is appalling

The quality is appalling, so much so, if you got it for free, you would still feel robbed. The item descriptions aren't misleading, they are flat out dishonest and devolved from reality.

When your order eventually arrives, with nothing resembling what you ordered, they charge you for the privilege of sending it back. Please don't waste your time.

Refund Refused, Item Kept, and Serious Hygiene Concerns About Returned Swimwear


I ordered six swimsuits from Shein (two sizes in each of three styles). Four of the six arrived without hygiene strips, which is unacceptable for intimate clothing. I reported two immediately and was refunded. When, during a Live Chat complaint, I later discovered another two missing strips, I logged that. I returned one of these two — and Shein refused a refund AND kept the swimsuit, claiming the hygiene strip was “missing”. It was missing because it never arrived with one!!! And I had noted that during my lengthy initial complaint.
This is not just poor service — it’s unfair commercial practice.
Refusing a refund while also keeping the returned item is completely unacceptable.

But the bigger issue is this:

Shein treats the hygiene strip as proof that a swimsuit is “new”, when in reality it proves nothing.

A hygiene strip is:

• not sterile
• not antibacterial
• not a medical barrier

If a previous customer tries on a swimsuit without underwear (and many do), the strip can carry bodily fluids, bacteria, and secretions. Shein then inspects the strip, repackages the swimsuit, and resells it as “new”.

So the next customer who keeps the strip on “just in case” she needs to return the swimsuit may actually be exposing herself to contamination from previous wearers. The strip gives a false sense of hygiene and is being used by Shein as justification to resell returned goods.

The fact that Shein is so aggressive about refusing refunds unless the strip is intact strongly suggests that returned swimwear is being resold.

I eventually won my dispute, but only after a long battle. Many other women are reporting the same issue — missing strips, damaged strips, or strips slightly out of place being used as excuses to deny refunds.

This is a systemic problem, not a one‑off mistake.

I will not be buying swimwear from Shein again, and I strongly urge others to be cautious. Their hygiene‑strip policy is misleading, their refund practices are unfair, and their handling of intimate clothing raises serious concerns.

Shocking scammers

Shocking scammers – avoid at all costs!

Ironically, I have simply copied feedback from two days ago below, as my experience is exactly the same. Clearly a complete scam! Customer support is no use.

I returned my items (bikinis) all with the hygienic labels fully attached, only to be told they were “missing” and that my refund would be refused. Conveniently, photos were then provided showing the items without the labels. It certainly appears that the labels were removed after receipt to create an excuse to deny my refund.

Those photos prove absolutely nothing. There are no labels visible, no product reference numbers, and no evidence whatsoever that the items photographed were actually the items I returned.

This is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Customers return items in good faith, only to be met with accusations and excuses designed to avoid issuing refunds.

I wish I had read the reviews before placing an order. I will never shop with SHEIN again and strongly advise others to think twice before purchasing. There are plenty of UK retailers that offer honest customer service and respect their customers’ rights.

Disgraceful behaviour from a company of this size.

Return three bikinis to SHEIN and they…

Return three bikinis to SHEIN and they tried to say that the bikini pants didn’t have stickers in them when I return them they did have stickers in them but the stickers were lifting off I have no proof that the stickers were there so they will not issue a refund. You have to take photos when things are faulty but it does not tell you to take a photo when things don’t fit so they will not issue a refund being caught out by this company but won’t be caught out again App deleted.

Worst customer service ever

Worst customer service ever. I've been trying to solve an issue for months. All I get are generic re-written AI answers that do not respond to my query. If you raise a complaint, they put you back to that incompetent useless customer service chat . Avoid

I was since contacted by customer service and was offered 50 points [less than 50p] to be used at Shein. Laughable.

Fast Fasion!

I’ve ordered a couple of times from SHEIN. I like the variety of clothing that you can’t get elsewhere, especially the t-shirts; and the prices are good. However, I do find the delivery very slow, and Evri makes things even slower! Also, in my recent order I received a t-shirt I didn’t order and didn’t get the one I did order!! What’s frustrating is there doesn’t seem to be any way of contacting SHEIN, I don’t think they want you to complain, that’s why the costs are cheap! Fast fashion! I’m still waiting for the remainder of my order, which is being sent separately. Who know what I will get!

I've ordered from here on and off for…

I've ordered from here on and off for years, never really had an issue.

This time I had an order of £120. Out of the that I had to send 3 items back and it should have been approx £20.
They have refunded me £1.34, stating the voucher used at checkout (which it does automatically) means I didn't fullful the min spend to use the voucher.
Disgusting.
Won't use them again.
I would rather spend a few pounds more on the other well known site and know I can send it back with no issues.

Address difficulties

I am trying to place an order on SHEIN but because my house has a name not a number it won’t accept the address. There must be thousands of properties with names and no house number. It is recognised by Royal Mail why not SHEIN?

Email shows as delivered, but no goods received

How can an email shows my order has "delivered" but I have see nothing and cannot find it anywhere?

Shein asked for more details, however if I have Not received the parcel yet, how do I know which orders since I have multiple orders, so cannot provide the order number or reference for time being.

Extremely disappointed with both the…

Extremely disappointed with both the service and the way this issue has been handled. My delivery arrived with two items missing, despite the bag being sealed when it was delivered. Customer service said they had investigated the matter, but instead of helping to resolve it, I felt as though I was being called a liar and they refused to issue a refund.

As a loyal customer, I expected far better treatment. The response I received was basically “tough luck, it’s your problem, not ours.” Being told that I had received the items when I know exactly what was ordered and what was actually in the package was unbelievable.

Mistakes can happen, but accusing customers rather than helping them is unacceptable. Sadly, this experience has completely destroyed my trust in the company.

Buyer beware do not shop at shein  Unless you plan on keeping every single item that you order because if you start returning, they block you and freeze your account because of returns, it is the most ludicrous reason in the world

I have been a loyal customer to this company for over seven years. I have spent literally thousands of dollars with them approximately five months ago they froze. My account and they cited "" suspicious activity. Your account is frozen. I have put in literally 40 different request. I have put in tickets. I've tried to email corporate. There is no customer service number of course so you're always talking to AI and bots when you're putting these tickets on  the Shein website . obviously they don't really care about their customers if they're just gonna freeze somebody out for returns would it happen was when you order numerous outfits and clothing items the odds are 50% of what you order is probably not going to fit you any reasonable person would know that so when you order 10 items if I returned three or four items because they didn't fit that became a problem for this company so they froze my account because of too many returns. It's the most ridiculous situation especially when somebody is a repeat customer for seven years so they just opted to not answer any of my tickets. Customer service has never helped me and nothing ever gets resolved unfortunately so I would just tell any customer and consumer to be aware that if you purchase any items from this company and you decide to return some, they will actually freeze you and block you out out of their website. Beyond disappointing, totally unprofessional and the worst part is you can't ever speak to anybody about It because they're truly is no customer service with this company.

Don’t expect a refund

Ordered 7 items each were in a separate plastic bag but when I unpacked them they were soaking wet. I didn’t get them out of the bags and of course couldn’t try them on so just immediately returned them for a refund. SHEIN received them refusing the refund and accusing me of making them wet and even saying one item was damaged. Well how did I damage something I didn’t get out of the bag.

Poorly made and cheap items

The items are mainly made of cheap wood, plastic and polyester. The delivery service is awful . I would not recommend this company. It’s not good value for money. Please kindly improve the quality of your products and customer service.

Please do not assign delivery companies such as Relay and Evri to deliver parcels. They are unreliable and unprofessional.

Shambles of a company

I ordered a selection of swimsuits from this diabolical company and received an email stating 3 of these were defective. They have charged me around £20.19 for this! Not only are they keeping the items, but they're actually charging me money and I've already paid for these. There is absolutely no way these items were damaged in any way. The useless plastic hygene strip that comes with all the swimwear actually fall off, but I made sure these were still in tact when i returned these. Surely what this company are doing is illegal. Withholding part of your refund, when the item you return is absolutely fine. I'll be asking trading standards for advice on this and never, ever will I be ordering from this again. Total embarrassment of a company.
