Appears to work well/Rigged it for chemicals
I have extreme multiple chemical sensitivity. I know this device does nothing for volatile organic compounds but I decided to order it and placed a thin sheet of carbon over the HEPA filter. I have had to wear special masks when I leave my house for over 10 years but if I have to wear a mask for any length of time, carbon dioxide builds up and I end up getting panicky and feel like I'm suffocating. Although this does not filter VOCs as well as my special masks, I can wear this and not become a maniac. The trade off is worth it for now. I have been told they are trying to develop a filter for VOCs, I hope it's soon.
I cannot say anything about how well it works for allergies as I don't use it outside and inside it's chemicals more than allergies that are my problem.
My only complaint is the very short battery life. I wore it in the grocery store yesterday and the battery died on me. I had only used it a couple of times previously for less than 30 minutes so that means the battery has less than 2 hours on high. I will just make sure I charge it after every use.

On the low air flow mode, the battery should last for approximately 8 hours, and on the high air flow mode, it lasts for about 2.5 hours.
It's important to note that the condition of the filters can impact the battery life. As the filters accumulate particles and become clogged, the device may require more power to maintain optimal air flow, which can shorten the battery life. Regularly cleaning or replacing the filters can help maintain the device's performance and prolong the battery life.

Lack of follow up re problems with device
I reached out several times regarding short battery life and the straps not holding the device in place. I received no response regarding the battery, and as part of a larger email, received another set of the same straps that fail to hold the device. I really want to love this device, but can't say that I do at this time.

I’ve edited my review from the above in order to better warn other potential customers.
My wife was suggested this product as an advert and thought at long last we’d found something which would help alleviate my life-long debilitating allergies. My allergies are so bad from dust, pollen and mould that I usually spend more time inside during summer than I do in winter because I can’t stop sneezing which is exhausting.
I had incredible relief after buying a VAX Air Purifier tower about 5 years ago which has been completely life changing. RESPIRAY seemed too good to be true at first but I thought I’d give it a go in good faith with lots of positive reviews.
I was disappointed from the moment I opened the box. It’s a glorified PC fan with a weak battery and filter attached to it.
Putting it on is fiddly and keeping the damned thing on is difficult if you’re moving at all in any way. It falls off and unclips itself very easily from the adjustable point in-between the magnetic attachments which do hold well. It will fall to the floor and you have to hope you’ve got your hands free so when you’re wearing it, you’re on edge waiting for it to unclip itself, not helpful when you have a baby to carry.
The first time I put it on the airflow aimed directly up my nostrils made me sneeze even more, serving only to add frustration.
I’m a frontline NHS worker in the UK and have had to wear a powered hood respirator which is also fantastic and like an air conditioning unit. The Respiray is less effective than a normal 3 ply mask which you could by a huge amount of for the price of a Respiray.
I’ve given this a good chance over a month but I firmly believe it’s a scam and you should avoid at all costs.

Works as advertised
I use it at home on my worst allergy days and feel relief within minutes. It works even better on the high speed fan setting. As a bonus it provides white noise while I'm working. I like the design but my wife tells me I look like a dork. I remove it for video calls and when we have visitors.

A Big Help to Allergy and Asthma Sufferers
I was initially skeptical of the Respiray unit, but having now spent some time with it, it is a great help. I've been an Allergy sufferer for over 40 years and now, in my sixties, have developed adult-onset asthma. My work environment is especially bad in triggering my symptoms, which include violent sneezing attacks along with intense coughing fits. My initial thought when first seeing the Respiray was that it seemed to be a rather cartoonish solution, but I thought I would gamble the money since a trip to the doctor's office with severe symptoms was only slightly cheaper than purchasing a Respiray. When I first used the unit at home, I was surprised that my coughing episodes were much less than usual, but the big surprise came when I took the unit to my office! It was the first time in two years that I had not had a severe coughing/sneezing attack for a four hour stretch! I was amazed and thrilled and now use the unit daily. Matter of fact, I purchased a second so I could keep one at the office. I do get made fun of and get called "Robocop" or "Transformer" sometimes, but the supposed embarrassment is worht it! To all you allergy/asthma sufferers out there, do yourself a favor and try the Respiray. It is worth it!

Six months and going strong
I bought my Respiray in May, 2022. Wanted to use it a while before reviewing, though after the first month, I was pleased enough to buy another one for my husband. (We bought mine first because my risk of respiratory infection is higher.)
These devices have made a huge difference in our lives. We now go shopping, attend art exhibits, pretty much everything except restaurants and theaters. And Respiray has lived up to its promise -- we have not caught any respiratory infections during that time.
The units hold a charge well, and three fan settings let us adjust for the crowd. Not too noisy at all.
My single complaint is the non-skid/padding material used on the shoulder area could be a little thicker, and could most definitely use a better adhesive; it began to peel after a couple of months of frequent use. But that's easily enough replaced, and overall, we are thrilled with our Respirays.

Durable and Effective
This is an update to a review I wrote soon after I received the devices. My husband and I wear them all the time - when we go shopping, to the gym, and when we travel - and find them very comfortable to wear, even for extended periods of time. I am very sensitive to noise and was concerned about the sound of the motor, but it has not been an issue at all - they so quiet I often have to check to make sure I turned it on. We have taken several long airplane trips over the past year and have not contracted COVID-19, even though the airports and planes are crowded and very few people are wearing masks. I am so happy we have them - buying them was one of the best decisions I ever made as they have gone a long way to giving us back our lives.

When technology is on service to human health
I am Portuguese and work in the health and care's field in the UK.
Recently, I got Covid in one of my living in care's placements. Thankfully, I am now fully recovered.
This situation motivated me to research for additional ways of protection. And I found Respiray.
I read attentively the information available about this air purifier. Even though, it was quite a significant financial investment for my budget, I decided to order it.
My aim is to reduce risks of getting the Covid again and feel more confident with my own health and of others.
I contacted Respiray's Customer Service. I am grateful for their immediate feedback, consideration and care to clarify my questions.
I am also grateful that I received RESPIRAY in my UK's address on time, before a journey that I made by coach from Victoria Coach Station in London to Portugal. I travelled overland and this device was of great help along the way.
The device worked well. I felt it was protecting me, having in consideration that I was sitting on a coach full of passengers with a majority of them not wearing a mask.
I arrived at home in Portugal well.
I am grateful, that on my return to my work in the UK, Respiray will continue to help me to reduce risks of the infection.

Great Product! Great Service!
Respiray has been most helpful in getting solutions. Service is excellent, thoughtful and with a personal touch. Delivery is prompt. The device can be worn or placed on a desk. When worn, it balances well and one will not feel it as you go about usual activities. It is quiet and lasts the whole day. It may not be so comfortable for active sports or PE activities, however, that is usually done in open spaces, so is not a problem. We have one for each in the family and the children bring it to school, too! It is most reassuring that we are doing our best to ensure we have the best quality air, virus free and are confident to go about our day in busy indoor settings. The best part is that it is very portable and we have autonomy over our air quality wherever we wish to go! Thanks for an innovative, portable and efficient product!
