Student Accomodation, endless emails and a guarantor for the whole house
As a potential guarantor for a student rented house. I was flooded with emails and text messages from the agancy, all counting down from day 7 to 1 to complete paperwork to support my 1st year student daughter's application. At a glance I have received 17 emails and numerous text messages.
In addition the contact offered sought for me to not only guarantee my own daughter's rent but also the rent of all fellow student housemates in the property.
I am glad that my daughter and her friends decided to lose their initial holding deposit and have signed and completed a contract with another local student housing agency, from whom I received 1 email and only had to guarantee my own daughter's rent.

The process you described is standard across student lettings, as joint tenancy agreements mean all tenants and their guarantors share responsibility for the full rent amount. This is a normal requirement, rather than a policy unique to our agency.
We appreciate that the documentation and reminders can feel like a lot - they’re in place to ensure everything is completed correctly and securely for all parties.
