Nord VPN is a subscription trap

Nord VPN is a subscription trap. A first TWO year subscription from April 2024 until July 2016 cost EUR 128,30. In June 2026, renewal for a ONE year period was priced at EUR 179,88. Three weeks before due date, the costs for a ONE year subscription rose to EUR 214,06. I initially failed to switch off the automatic subscription renewal option, trusting that raises would be reasonable. In the present case, Nord VPN raised the initial subscription price within two years by 334%. I feel this is serious a rip-off. Company untrustworthy.

The problem with NordVPN is it's SPEED

The problem with NordVPN is it's server's I live in Florida so I compared ProtonVPN to NordVPN. I only have one high speed service and unfortunately it's Xfinity NordVPN the first week only I did get a NordVPN server after that GSL Network Data Camp and PackHub server's only and I did setup NordVPN for the fastest server my 1Gig service was reduced to 250mbps download and 10mbps upload. ProtonVPN is much faster almost 850mbps download and 112mbps upload. So don't waste your money with NordVPN you will not get a NordVPN server.

This is standard practice in the industry and does not mean you are connecting to a non-NordVPN server. Your traffic is still fully encrypted and routed through our infrastructure regardless of the data center name you see.

Very positive experience…

I’ve had a very positive experience using NordVPN. The app is easy to install and simple to use, even if you’re not very technical. The connection is stable, the speed is good, and it gives me extra peace of mind when browsing, especially on public Wi-Fi or when travelling. I also like that it works smoothly across different devices. Overall, NordVPN feels reliable, practical, and good value for anyone who wants more privacy and security online.

I purchased NordVPN for a temporary one-month need.

I purchased NordVPN for a temporary one-month need. After returning home, I canceled the subscription immediately because I no longer needed the service. However, my subscription renewed automatically for another month.

I contacted customer support and requested a one-time courtesy refund. After multiple conversations and requesting a management review, NordVPN continued to deny my request based solely on its Terms of Service, without confirming whether my request had actually been reviewed by management.

My concern is not only the refund itself, but the lack of flexibility in handling a reasonable, one-time customer request.

NordVPN scam: 9-year customer pays €181.35/year while new customers pay €77.88 for a better plan

UPDATE: NordVPN responded but addressed nothing specific. For anyone reading this: I am paying €181.35 per year on auto-renewal. Logged into my own NordVPN account, they offered me a better plan for €77.88 per year. Check your own renewal price right now.
NordVPN told me the lower price exists "to allow customers to test our services." Then they offered it to me, a customer of 9 years, on my own account page. When I asked for a refund of the difference they stonewalled me for weeks and are now saying "processes are running."
€313.34 still outstanding. Ticket #21182220.

Original: Avoid this company. What they are doing is a scam, and I have the proof.
I have been a customer since 2017. My first subscription was around $96 for two years, roughly $48 per year. By 2022 it was €83.93 for two years. Now I am paying €181.35 per year, more than four times the original annual rate, with no clear explanation and no consent.
I paid by direct debit, which meant I never actively approved each payment. I only discovered what was happening when I noticed an unfamiliar charge from a company called Moonflash on my bank statement. The charge appeared as "Moonflash," a name I did not recognize. Fitting, since "to flash" someone means to con them. NordVPN knows exactly what they are doing. Direct debit customers are their easiest targets.
Here is the part that shows exactly what kind of company this is: I logged into my own NordVPN account, clicked on my subscription, and NordVPN offered me a Complete plan at €77.88 per year. That plan includes everything I have and more. I am paying €181.35. As a loyal customer of 9 years I am being charged more than double what anyone signing up today would pay. On their own website. For a worse plan. I have screenshots.
When I raised this, NordVPN told me the higher renewal price is "the actual price for our services." They also said "a lower initial price is available to allow customers to test our services." Both claims are false. Their own website offers existing logged-in customers the Complete plan for €77.88. That is not a test price. That is the real price, available to anyone who simply signs up again instead of renewing.
They also claimed no services were added to my plan and that the name change from "NordVPN plan" to "Standard plan" was just a rebrand. They offered no explanation for why the price jumped from €131.99 to €181.35 at the same time.
When I complained, they stonewalled me for weeks. They refunded one year only after I threatened SEPA disputes, ACM and ECC complaints, and public reviews. The other two years they refused, hiding behind a 30-day policy.
NordVPN is currently facing multiple class action lawsuits in the United States for exactly this practice. It is not a coincidence. It is a business model designed to overcharge customers who trust them and hope they do not notice.
Do not give this company your credit card.

Its an absolute scam and shame on them

Its an absolute scam and shame on this company for stealing peoples money. It comes with a 30 day refund window, it will work PERFECTLY during this 30 day window, AS SOON AS 30 DAYS ARE UP it stops working. They obviously put resources into making it work as long as people can get their refund but the second that's over they pull those resources. I paid for the year specifically to play world of warcraft at a high level on Oceanic servers but competing a lot on US servers, without Nord VPN this was impossible as it would be too laggy, so bought their year service and it allowed me to play on US servers at a highly competitive level, THE VERY DAY the 30 day refund window expired I could no longer play on this US servers, it was too laggy. It is beyond imagination to try to think that it worked perfectly for 30 days and then stops working as soon as the refund window expires is coincidence or anything other than just a straight up scam.

So far i haven't had any issues

So far i havent had any issues with my pc or phone security but thats the point. I think the program runs fairly efficently and does it job correct. The prices for this VPN are not too bad either. I will update this if something changes. God is good.

App has become complete garbage!

App has become complete garbage!! I used to set my Nordvpn and it stayed working fine. Then a year ago they did some update, now it crashes all the time (just did again right now) but the kill switch doesnt work and it’s a huge hassle trying to log in again. I contacted support and every time it’s uninstall + reinstall product. They need to fix these glitches or at least let me install the old version that didn’t crash consistantly
