Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 177 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were deeply dissatisfied with customer service, experiencing persistent communication barriers, unhelpful responses, and extreme difficulties getting timely updates or resolutions regarding their cases. Consumers frequently reported multiple mechanical breakdowns, poor vehicle build quality, and severe component failures that regularly left drivers stranded on the road. Though some customers faced major challenges, a small group of reviewers were happy with the friendly staff, helpful assistance, and smooth purchasing process at specific dealership locations. These individuals genuinely appreciated clear communication, professional guidance, and efficient service when acquiring and maintaining their vehicles.

Awful service, Nissan

I don't normally write reviews, however, on this occasion I feel like I morally have to.
My partner bought a brand new car from Nissan, and after about three months the car broke down. We took this to a local Nissan dealership who made no progress over about a year trying to repair it.

Seven months ago we started the process of rejecting the vehicle due to it being not fit for purpose. For unknown reasons it has been over 17 months of not having the vehicle which we bought, the entire time we were paying for it month on month.

During this time Nissan customer service has been completely incompetent with; no communication both ignoring our phone calls and emails, passing the case on to multiple different case managers with most of them being useless the only thing they achieved was delaying the process even further.

Finally after all the stres, time and money spent on the car Nissan offered us an ultimatum take back the broken car and continue to pay for it or accept them taking the car back and compensation of around one third of the amount of money spent on a broken vehicle (over £10,000).

I know Nissan does not care about this review and they are happy doing a poor job as long as it saves them a bit of money.
I write this review to try and warn any future customers of Nissan. Save yourself time, stress, and thousands of pounds by avoiding this company.

I honestly think that Nissan should be ashamed of the service they have delivered as it is completely unacceptable. I do not know if they have been deliberately malicious in order to save themselves money or they are just incompetent on all levels.

Appalling customer service from Managing Directors office…

Without doubt my experience with Nissan was the worst for customer service. We have a one year old Nissan Juke. The gearbox has failed and needs a replacement, this is covered under warranty. However the car was dropped to the main dealer Nissan Barnstaple by one of our employees. He was asked if he wanted a courtesy car and didnt know so said no. On the following Monday i was told this and immediately contacted Nissan Uk who said we should have a courtesy car and would arrange it. Over 20 phone calls later and emails to Shane in the Managing Directors office we still dont have one and havent had a car to use for a week. The car is still not fixed. No compensation offered. A real couldnt care less attitude from both the dealer and the Managing Directors office. I will never buy another Nissan neither will my employees or any family members. Well done Nissan youve lost potentially a lot of future sales

Absolutely disgusting customer service

Absolutely disgusting customer service!
Vehicle had to be recovered yesterday due to a fault that was reported to Nissan Roadside Assistance on Thursday, they were too busy and therefore contacted to say they would attend on Friday morning as I was at home.
The RAC attended Friday morning and recovered the car due to the fault. Went via the onward travel line to be told to go to Nissan Customer service, spoke to them to then be told to go to the dealer, even though I had explained the dealer had no hire cars available. Contacted them to be told to go back to Nissan customer service. That call was made and the agent put through a formal complaint to be told they would be in contact within 48 hours! Tried to chase this morning to find that they are closed over the weekend!!!! So I’ve paid nearly £40k for a car that I’m now unable to use and have been left without a car since Thursday early evening!!!!!!! Disgusting service they just don’t care!

Appalling service continues!

When you write a review and Nissan come back to say they want you to contact them via Facebook so they can look into it, is all a show. They just go through the whole complaint again and then come back to say they cannot do anything. We are shocked at this service as it was Nissan's fault for not letting us know the extended warranty has expired. The reason given they can't do anything is because the car is 8 years old which has nothing to do with the original complaint. It took them over 6 weeks to come back and say they can't do anything. Never buying Nissan car again!

Do not buy from Watford Nissans…

Do not buy from Watford Nissans company, I am extremely disappointed with Nissan and their service. I bought a car from them less than a year ago, and it has been nothing but trouble. Recently, my car broke down unexpectedly, and although I have a warranty, the repair process has been a nightmare. It’s been over three months now just to get it fixed, and I was told I have to wait an additional two weeks before it’s ready. To make matters worse, they told me I need to replace the battery myself—despite the fact that I shouldn’t be responsible for repairs that fall under the warranty.
This level of customer service is unacceptable, especially considering the car is so new. It’s incredibly frustrating to deal with constant breakdowns and unhelpful support. I expected better from Nissan, but unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing and stressful. I wouldn’t recommend their vehicles or services based on this experience

Shockingly bad customer service

We had a e-power fault the first time 13 months ago when the car was 1 year old. It has been in 10 times since then and they have not been able to fix it. The Nissan dealer have now had it again since August. We raised a complaint with Nissan in June and I’ve been emailing the case manager each week since the car went in and have been completely ignored. The dealer says they are waiting for an answer from Nissan…. We have no idea what they are doing and they have the car. I’ve now raised a case with the motor Ombudsman and having tried to contact them again yesterday assume we will need to take legal action.

clutch &flywheel failure 33000 miles

My daughter bought a low-mileage Qashkai 2019 model. At 33,000 miles, it has developed an oil leak, which was diagnosed as caused by a faulty rear main oil seal.
These seals should be good for 100K miles. Judging from the comments here, I don't really expect Nissan to care that things like this fail prematurely at a possible large cost.
She took out an extended warranty for over £900, that is not saying whether they will cover the cost until they see photos which means they have to remove the gearbox, clutch, and flywheel just to look at a leaking seal before they decide whether they will pay out. If they don't she is looking at a £2,700 bill. Money she hasn't got.
I will need a new car soon, but now that I realise Nissan is about as good as British Leyland, they are off my list
Edit It now turns out that it wasn't the main oil seal but the seal around the sump. However, in taking off the bell housing they discovered the flywheel was breaking up and clutch bearing also disintegrating, It appears that her extended warranty doesnt want to know as its a progressive wear and tear and not in their eyes a premature failure. This is despite Nissan customer services saying when the car was sold it had a 6 year guarantee of 100K miles. This car is just a fraction over 6 years and a 3rd of the 100K miles..
When my citroen had a premature pump failure less than a month after the guarantee period they replaced the pump free of charge because it shouldnt have died at so few miles.
Lesson. dont by Nissan or extended warranties.

My experience with Nissan Qashqai – something to consider before buying

I’d like to share my ownership story, as it might help someone make the right choice before purchasing this car.

Everything started right after buying my brand-new Qashqai – the A/C didn’t work because it simply wasn’t filled from the factory. When I went to the official Nissan service center, they initially refused to fix it, and only after complaints to the hotline did they agree to solve the issue.

Unfortunately, the problems didn’t stop there. At the second scheduled service, with only 27,000 km on the odometer, the water pump failed. The car became undriveable. The service agreed to replace it under warranty, but after three weeks of waiting I was told that this part wasn’t available anywhere in stock, and the delivery date was completely unknown. Can you imagine? A global manufacturer not having a basic part that should be replaceable under regular maintenance, and not even knowing when it would arrive.

So now I have a relatively new car that I cannot drive, with no clear timeline for repair.
You buy a new car, and after just 27k km you’re told it can’t be used because a critical part is missing — and nobody knows for how long.

That’s why I strongly advise anyone considering a Nissan Qashqai to think twice. Thankfully, the market still has reliable manufacturers that stand behind their products. The choice is always yours — just make sure it’s the right one.

Just deleted Nissan from my short list

So pleased that I read all the extremely poor reviews regarding Nissan after care. I had shortlisted a Qashqai e power for my next car, it was top of my list. Just deleted it from my list.
Many thanks to everyone that took time to review Nissan, saved me any future headaches. No wonder Nissan are struggling.

Useless

Bought a Nissan car in 2024 on the advice regarding towing capacity.
I later found the advice to be wrong and although the e-mail I received was specific they then said no it’s a generalisation as I did not give my registration.
So I contacted them with my registration as getting mixed advice elsewhere and the reply I received was the did not know the answer.
So this organisation is clearly not fit to head up supply of Nissan cars in uk, they are both dishonest and do not have a clue about the cars that they sell.

Repeatedly treated unfairly

My X-trail is still under warranty and covered by breakdown assistance. My experience has consistently fallen far below the standard of service I was promised and have paid for.
Breakdown cover failures - On both occasions when my car broke down, I was not provided with the service I am entitled to under my cover. The terms state that my car should be inspected within 48 hours and, if it cannot be repaired, I should receive a courtesy car. Neither of these obligations were fulfilled. Instead, I was left waiting for weeks before my car was even checked, and no courtesy car was provided.
Service and parts delays - Following a full service, I was informed that a part had been ordered and that I would be contacted once it arrived. Nearly two months later, after hearing nothing, I followed up myself—only to discover that no part had been ordered at all and the job had been completely forgotten.
Courtesy car cancellation and broken promises - On another occasion, I booked a service well in advance specifically so I could have a courtesy car. The day before, my courtesy car was cancelled. I was told that if I booked for a different date, my car would be prioritised as the first to be checked and serviced. However, when I arrived, I was informed that another car would be taken first, despite the promises made.
Overall treatment - Since owning my Nissan X-Trail, I have repeatedly been treated unfairly, left without the services I am entitled to, and provided with little to no communication or accountability. This is not the level of service I expected when purchasing a Nissan vehicle with warranty and breakdown cover.
This situations is causing significant inconvenience and undermines my confidence in both the product and the after sales service. Under the terms of the warranty, I am entitled to timely and effective repairs, yet these have not been provided.

Nissan Head Office telephone number...

Phoned 01923 899999 and 01923 899899 (shown for Nissan Rivers Office Park, Denham Way, Maple Cross, Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire WD3 2YS) and both numbers are 'dead'

The customer service number 0330 123 1231 can't be transferred to the Head Office.

My concern was about the failure of the gearbox of my 2019 Nissan Qashqai with less than 39,000 miles. The engine had to be replaced at 24,161 miles. I have a high driving standard.

This is my 3rd Qashqai(July25)but it will be my last, the infotech is crazy and and refuses to hold Bluetooth settings.
Nissan themselves are not interested in correcting the problem, the dealership tried twice but have now given up, they do not return my calls.
Looks like that I'm stuck with a car that has the infotect powered off and I'm now driving around using my iphone and the Waz app.

Nissan Guarantee a joke on 4 month old car!

The Nissan Guarantee is not worth the paper it is written on!
I had my 4 months EV break down Saturday, collected and taken to local Nissan Burnley Monday. The allegedly have a promise that you will be kept mobile during the repair time... It's a big fat lie! Was told Monday no courtesy car available. Now told my car cannot be fixed there so going to another Nissan and as they are transferring me they have no responsibility to support me, even if it takes a week for car to be collected. Raised a complaint with Nissan Assist who are yet to offer any support.
I question who is responsible for ensuring the promise is followed through as it appears no one ensures this is. 4 months old car... not expected back for week and not able to go to work! An absolute joke, never again will i buy Nissan

Update- 5 days later still waiting for a courtesy car, the Nissan promise to keep you mobile is rubbish. No response to complaint I made despite them saying 2 days!

Only gave 1 star because I couldn’t…

Only gave 1 star because I couldn’t move to next page. Received letter from Nissan re recall fault. Booked it in my husband who is 71 and disabled took it in only to be told it would be 3 hours so they rescheduled it so that it would only take 1 hour called a sitting appointment. Just had phone call advising it will take 3 hours my husband cannot sit waiting in garage due to his disability’s. Told them this didn’t make any difference. Told it will cost us £30 for them to collect and drop off. Phoned customer service spoke to a woman who couldn’t have cared less saying she couldn’t do anything no courtesy car or less waiting time. We have never experienced after sales like it in fact there is no after sales. Won’t be purchasing from Nissan when we come to change car !! Update :- Nissan phoned this morning to see if we were taking car in for part I had arranged for taxis to and from garage. My husband took car in at 10 this morning 13th August only to be told machine had broke so couldn’t carry out repair. This was his second attempt. Had to cancel taxis. Thank goodness we haven’t much longer to put up with Nissan and their poor service

Do not go with Nissan

Do not go with Nissan!
I have had two break failures leading to my vehicle having to be stopped with the handbrake as the ABS system failed. After 3 months of testing and being told nothing was wrong they found an issue with the brakes and replaced the part. Just under a year later it happened again, once again I have been told there is no issue and that after requesting to come out of my finance I have been told I will have to pay nearly £4000 as they will not take me out of the contract free of charge. They say that because no issue can be found even though I have 2 AA reports reporting braking issues they can not do anything. Took nearly two months to get an answer and when I rung today they told me that they sent out the response on the 9th of July despite being told on the 28th of July I would hear on the 8th of August. Horrible service and as per usual once they have your money issues become a lot more difficult to resolve.

Appalling service and communication…

Appalling service and communication from Nissan. I had a recall for the battery electrical system, apparently this only takes an hour to rectify according to the letter i received.

I went through the website booking system that it advised, due to the fault only taking an hour, i selected to do a wait while it's done booking. Oddly this meant a waiting time of a month, but if i booked a courtesy car from them, which i would need to pay for, i could get it booked in that same week.

I don't live local, so booked a waiting appointment, which was apparently available. A few days later i get an email stating that the appointment wasn't available, so instead they booked the same day but i would need to drop the car off early morning and collect at the end of the day.
Hold on a minute, this is the opposite of what i required. When i asked about re-booking for an alternative timeslot of day that week, i was told i must go through the whole process again as they can't check any days or times at any Nissan dealers.
So i told them to cancel the appointment which they did not do, i then get bombarded with sms and calls from the dealer about the car and bringing it in.

I've now tried to rebook online and waiting to see if the same happens again. They didn't offer me any alternative dates or times, just told me to rebook. I think this is a poor service, i have a 1yr old car with a manufacturer fault, they clearly don't want to undertake the work and making it as difficult as possible to book it in. This has put me off buying another Nissan, never had such poor service and communication. I am a customer, not somebody trying to get something for FREE.
