Started off great. I thought this was going to be a company i could work with long term on many different service, but they turned out to be very dishonest and misleading. I didn't want to waste a month submitting documents only to be told they couldn't help me. They assured me my situation was something they 100% could do but they are just as dishonest as every other company selling people a bunch of BS just to drag you along and then go back on all the things they said they could do. Do better and stop wasting peoples time and money

I just had the most amazing customer service experience yesterday and today. Newtek has been the online bank I've used for several years to benefit from its excellent interest rates on high yield savings accounts. When I realized that I had forgotten to transfer sufficient funds for my son's college tuition due tomorrow, I called Newtek to arrange a wire transfer. (Incidentally Newtek provides free wire transfers!) My very friendly customer service representative Ja'Kira stayed with me through several calls yesterday and today to ensure that the wire transfer went through, even when I screwed up the wire transfer form with my fat fingers and incorrectly input my own street numbers. (SMH--I am getting old.) In any case, big kudos to Newtek for their outstanding customer service.

I decided to open a HYSA but was hesitant to have one solely with a digital bank. When I initially tried to open it yesterday (01/06/26) I ran into some issues and tried calling customer service numerous times over several hours. Each time I was put on a long hold & even got disconnected which was extremely frustrating. I tried again today (01/07/26) and was pleasantly surprised. I was connected fairly quickly to representative, Ja’Kira, and she was AMAZING! She was the true definition of positive customer service…extremely helpful, patient, polite and knowledgeable! She resolved the issues from the prior day, helped me complete the account set up process, and even walked me through the features on the system. Ja’Kira is most definitely a huge asset to Newtek Bank, and she deserves all the kudos & praise for her excellent work and assistance! I cannot thank her enough for taking the time to assist and ultimately change my mind about Newtek Bank and their level of customer service! I am a new customer and hope this great level of service continues (if and/or when needed).

So far, so good. I was corresponding with Michael Mann, who answered all my questions promptly and thoroughly, and helped me with a few concerns I had upon setting up our new account. I do wish the transfer and joint-owner setup processes were quicker, but I can live with the reality that everything is taking about a week. Overall we are pleased.

I had really high hopes for NewTek given the reviews. But they make it hard. In their HYSA, they only allow you to attached ONE external account and it must be your original source. And they will not let you change it in the first 90 days. Why would they make it so inconvenient? I affectively have to transfer things from other externals to my checking to then transfer it into NewTek? Who has time for that? No thank you. I will park my cash somewhere where's not hard to get money in or out.

Customer service is incompetent. Takes 4 business day to transfer money while they take money away the next business day.

I have been with Newtek now for more than 2 years with multiple CDs. Their staff is absolutely exceptional and Newtek provides great cusotmer service.
