Mom's meals came to me due to a hospitalization. They are a lifesaver. Delicious meals although on the small side at times but in general a help to me as I can not do this for myself at this time. Great service that I am glad was available to me at such a distressing time.
Rice rice rice, nearly everything has rice and my mom can't eat rice. There are very few selections without rice. The puree meals sounded good but she doesn't need that. Rice makes my mom's blood sugar spike every time she eats it, I don't see how rice is low in carbs or good for diabetic people. Also the meals looked very small.
My blood pressure has become elevated since eating Mom's Meals. I looked at the salt content, and realized that it is much higher than the foods I had prepared for myself. Every meal has lots of cheese. There are no fresh vegetables and a very small variety of fresh fruit.
The fruit cups provided have syrup , the puddings are runny and very sugary. So the meals are salty, fatty, and sugary. Not a healthy diet. Since eating the Mom's Meals my health has gotten worse.
This is my 2nd time using Mom meals. Bad experience both times. They need to come up with a better plan for the patient. First time being discharged I knew nothing about this but I was contacted by then per my insurance Company 2 weeks after being discharged from hospital. Took another 2 weeks to get my meals. Now this time out of Hospital 2 days contacted waiting on meals so I call them. Will be here tomorrow so took 3 days to deliver. That’s 5 days since discharged. I tried doing it before I was discharged myself but was told that’s not how it works yet your insurance Company’s knows your insurance the hospital, so why can’t you call and let them no your being discharged so you have meals to come home too! Now I’m being told I’m getting 12 dinner and 2 breakfast. Why!! Shouldn’t it be 7 breakfast and 7 dinner!!! Am I supposed to eat dinner for my breakfast!!! I ordered all breakfast for my next pack that follows. Not impressed at all with this program!
Reads given a meal program as part of my insurance benefit and naturally I took advantage of it. Read the reviews first and try not to let them Jade me. Yikes! Small portions and just plain bad food. The best part of it was a box which I gave my cat to play with and she really seem to enjoy it. It would be insane to pay out of pocket for this stuff and even the insurance would be a rip off. thanks for nothing mom
I’m a mother of two with stage 4 breast cancer that spread to my spine I was dropping 4 pounds a week, moms meals worked closely with my social worker and quickly got me set up with these meals I’m picky so I was hesitant, there are so many options they could use salt and pepper but being medically tailored I expected that I didn’t expect them to tastes so good or for the customer service to be so good, I’ve stopped losing weight an my kids can make them for me if I don’t feel well! Thank you guys so much for helping get back on the road to recovery I don’t know where I’d be without it thank you!!
It is shocking how small these meals are - for 9.95 no less. You will be so disappointed. Sincerely, you can take your loved one to a restaurant and receive better quality, and larger portions for 10 bucks. Complete rip off. Sad taking advantage of people who need help with retiree budgets.
Pureed meals are great.
Mom's Meals has been a lifesaver for my husband. He has dysphasia and can only eat pureed food. They have a good assortment to choose from. We get 10 at time and they last 2 weeks, so we intermix them with other pureed foods that we make. But these are super convenient and my husband likes them. Thanks, Moms Meals!
Mom's meals is the most disgusting and revolting food that has ever been perpetrated upon the old and indigent.
The combinations are vile the vegetables taste like they were cooked last month and kept in the refrigerator till they were packaged up.
The quality in general is way below subpar and I fed most of them to my dog because no one in my family would eat them the rest I threw away.
I was discharged from the hospital one and 1/2 weeks ago. I qualify for meals through my insurance company. I have been in contact with momsmeals for the week and 1/2. I still don’t have any meals and now have to wait until Monday to get answers as to why this has taken so long. I will not recommend this company to anyone
This is not real food. I don't know what they are using for meat. All you get is a bunch of canned mixed veggies and an mystery entree'. I would not feed this to my dog and he probably wouldn't eat it. It was absolutely terrible and I would not recommend it to anyone. Waste of insurance monies.
The first entree, chicken/rice/cheese had a small piece of foreign material , unknown.
The second entree, teriyaki mix on rice. I also bit a piece of something that was not part of that dinner.
The portions are very small, and mostly carbs : rice and pasta . And sauce. Very little real meat.
After those 2 tries, I sent 2 weeks of their food back , unopened. Waste of my insurance benefit .
I don’t know what they think when they’re putting those apples and other chopped fruit with all that raw oatmeal on top and all that fruit chopped up together but it tastes bitter there’s nothing good about it. Just just give me applesauce or pudding, cookie or fresh fruit because what you put in there is not edible. But thank you for trying.
I had a medical procedure on January 28th and went home on January 31st. I was told very light duty and they were having Moms Meals deliver 2 weeks of meals to make it easier for me.
I received a call and was asked about dietary restrictions, address, etc. Then was told I would be contacted when the meals shipped out. It's been crickets. I tried calling a couple other times and couldn't reach anyone. I finally reached someone today (Feb 10). I spoke with one person and explained the situation. He passed me to someone else. I again explained everything. I was again passed to someone else. I again explained everything and once again I was told I would be passed to someone else.
What's the definition of insanity??? I didn't want to keep going in circles and repeating everything over and over.
So much for being there during someone's time of need. Thanks a bunch Mom's Meals!
The meal isn't the issue. It is the delivery. The person is not making effort to get the meal to the apartment unjt.
I've tried 2 of the meals so far. The pepper steak was a preform hamburger patty, about a tablespoon of diced peppers and a bland sauce over some penne pasta. The ravioli in a garlic sauce was not only tasteless, but the sauce was also gritty as if it was made from powder. The "seasoned" green beans were good, once I seasoned them.
With all these bad comments I’m scared to order anything from here!!!Sorry!
Their food and customer service is excellent. The issue I ran into was with the company's they used for delivery. The boxes are delivered once a week, they weigh approximately 25#. The company did not deliver to my door, they left it in mail room 5 floors below and did NOT notify me when it was delivered. I was put on bed rest after surgery. Meals were great and tasted homemade.
