Electrical help with my TVR…

Adam travelled to help with my TVR which was having electrical issues and not starting and very patiently went through all of the engine wiring to find the problem. He was very knowledgeable and not at all flummoxed by having to work on a very complex English sports car and after two hours had it starting and working again. Super happy and I would happily use him and his team again

Happy to find a car mechanic that I can trust!

I took my car in for an MOT, and was made very comfortable while I waited for the result. They went out of their way to correct problems so that I would not have to come back or leave the car there overnight. I can highly recommend this company. I have used them before and found their work and prices reasonable.
Would happily recommend Mekaniks!

Absolutely exceptional service!

I'm not sure that any review of this wonderful Company can do it justice! Suffice to say they came to my rescue when I found myself without my wing mirror. Mekaniks had to source a replacement which they did with great speed, all the while keeping me informed.
The staff were always courteous, efficient and extremely professional and I would not hesitate in calling them again for any car services. DO NOT HESITATE if you need help: they are exceptional and give an old fashioned great service. Thank you for your help.

I am totally disappointed in the…

I am totally disappointed in the service I have received.
I wanted a steering wheel for my car, the mechanic inspected the car, consulted with another mechanic at your base who informed me that they had the part available. I paid the required deposit and the mechanic came and fitted the steering wheel and told me any problems contact them. A few days after a warning lights indicated that something was wrong with the airbag. I contacted your office and informed them of the problem. Without further inspection, the mechanic told me a vital part was missing. To proceed with fixing the problem another part was needed to fix the problem which would incur further cost. I agreed to proceed. I was informed that the part would be available between six to nine days. After the ninth day, did not get any update so I called the mechanic and he informed me that it was due to arrive before the due date. He contacted me after stating that custom duties were required for its release and further cost would be incurred and it’s arrival would be delayed. If the mechanic who fitted the steering wheel knew that a vital part is missing, why did he fit the steering wheel knowing that it would not work properly. I feel that I have not been treated fairly and I am being treated as a cash cow

Hi Steven,

We are sorry for your disappointment with us however, we did offer you a refund for the steering wheel once you returned the one we provided back to us. You never responded to us.

Waste of time!

First used in March time taken was a week from contacting them with my own diagnotic code and part required. After several whatsapp messages the mechanic turned up 5 hours later than expected after I left work early! Part fitted £185. Problem again contacted on Wednesday battled to get an invoice, reply or any kind of communication I used my diagnostic machine and messaged the code to be told it could be about 6 different things. Still waiting for a suggestion 3 days later. Got the RAC out who pinpointed the problem so will be getting repaired next week. Mekaniks are a waste of time so blocked on whatsapp!

Helen

We hope you are doing well,

We are sorry to hear that you are disappointed in our service however,we diagnosed the issue on your car as the lamdda sensor being faulty (which it was),so we changed it,and your car was running smoothly.

We did attempt to contact you to offer our help to source the other issues with your car however, when we tried to make contact with you again, we were unable to get through, as you've pointed out here you had indeed blocked us.

Untrustworthy

I believed the 5 stars trustpilot review seen on their van. Here is my feedback:

Honda civic AC problem diagnostic:£150.
Right. Paid.
Mechanic come to an address in time. At the end of a long diagnostic he finished. Problem fixed. I did not let him to go.... had a check... and the problem was not fixed. Mechanic went on diagnostic and turned out: the problem is a dead ac-sensor.
After mechanic left I got a call: new sensor with fitting is £150. Ok...I have no chance want my car get fixed so I payed again. Next appointment engeener come at same address to my workplace. I could not be with him because I was at work. After 1 hour I came to see him. He said the problem is not the sensor but control panel! So...he did not set the new sensor at all!
Great.
I have got the next call from Mekaniks operator as the engeener left.
They said cannot refund the price of UNUSED new sensor because that is not returnable!
But the are more than happy to order a new control panel, costs £171 with fitting!
So.... I was really upset.

They did not want to give any discont from the unused brand new sensor what they made me to order but want to pay another £171!

So after many chat conversation days they cut the communication with me.

Result: £300 payed, car not fixed.

Conclusion:

-Do not pay direct debit them before doing service!
- Use credit card!

I hope can help!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! AFTER SPENDING MORE THAN 3 DAYS TO TRY TO FIX MY WORK VAN.. THEY DIDNT FIX ANYTHING! INSTEAD THEY OVERCHARGED MORE AND MADE DAMAGE TO THE DIESEL TANK!... THEY DONT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING! UNRELIABLE, NOT HONEST. THEY TOOK ALMOST £600 FROM MY BOSS LEAVING THE VAN WITH A BIGGER PROBLEM. WE HAD TO TAKE THE VAN TO A DIFFERENT COMPANY WHICH MANAGED TO FIX THE VAN FOR A DECENT PRICE.

Be very careful

You will regret using this company as they are totally unreliable, unskillful, and with minimum knowledge of vehicle mechanics and repair.

Honest & Reliable

Both my husband and myself have been having our cars maintained and looked after by Mekaniks for several years.
They go the extra mile, they are honest and professional. Recently i was quoted for an MoT & to have my rear sensors changed. When they were checked, they found my sensors actually didn’t need to be changed, & they could fix them at no charge!
That’s not something you can expect everywhere!
We have piece of mind knowing they are so reliable & honest.

Great guys

Great guys - Great work!

Joseph and Desmond were great today.

I had my catalytic converter stolen recently so needed it replaced. I brought parts from Cats2u and additional exhaust fittings from ebay and an o2 sensor from Carparts4less - I went through this with Joseph (over the phone) who reassuringly confirmed I had everything needed (i.e some folks forget they will need a Lamba/o2 sensor or appropriate fittings for this type of job).

I decided that I may as well get some other much needed car tasks done too like changing my extremely faded headlights and replacing my rear brake pads and discs.

Desmond came over and skilfully fixed all of these issues within a couple of hours.

I preferred this all being done in front off my eyes as 2 years ago, I paid a garage to change my rear brakes and discs (as they did my MOT and gave that as an advisory) - I went to another garage the following year who advised the same advisory - I realised at this point that the garage did not even change my rear brakes and pads and took £200 from me for nothing. Then when I went to chase the garage up, learned that they had closed down and were being converted into flats. I'm sure not all garages are like this but having a honest mobile mechanic doing this reassured me I would not get ripped off again.

With the front bumper off for the headlight replacement, I could also change a rear screen wash pump that had also been on my list of to dos for this car.

I did have one other task that would have costed more time and money but was shown that it would not really make a difference if done - my car's engine makes a loud cranky/screechy noise than run smoothly (like a diesel car even though its petrol): Potential fixes I was told about previously by the AA and Toyota were to replace the belt (done previously to no joy), change the belt tension pulley and water pump. Desmond showed me that with the accessory belt off - i.e. with no tensioner pulley or water pump, the sound remained so changing these parts would make no difference and it was more of an issue inside the engine. Changing this would have also been a waste of coolant. This honesty is another good point about a mobile mechanic in comparison to some garages as they are not wanting to offer you false solutions and charge you for it for trying.

The last extra nicety was that Joseph allowed for a 10% NHS worker discount (use your NHS email to confirm, it was at discretion, so please ask nicely and not take it as a definite, they have bills too just as we all do) and allowed for payment via PayPal. This was a double blessing for me as I could use PayPal credit to pay more flexibly - This month is already tight with annual road tax, car repair costs and still some to come as I need to get the car MOT'd by my local garage who I worry may well try to rip me off - Fingers crossed they won't.

I recommend Mekaniks and Joseph and Desmond. I hope this helps you make the right decision. Thanks Mekaniks! My heroes today.

After spending nearly £400 they informed me they cannot fix it.

After breaking down at 18:30 and no way at that time to arrange to have it taken to a garage had the car delivered home. Looked for mobile mechanic and found Mekaniks had good reviews. So booked them.
Instructed then to fix the car and then do a service, a major service was pushed and I was fine with that just needed the car fixed. They wanted to carry out the service and then fix the car, I told them to fix the car first then do a service. (No point in servicing an engine that is broken). They agreed to fix then service.
Diagnostic and Service was £280.80 cost of replacing Camshaft £94.80. The Camshaft sensor was not the problem, another Mekaniks mechanic turned up to fit the sensor but after fitting still not working, he diagnosed Camshaft solenoid. Another Mekaniks mechanic turned up at 18.45 to fit the solenoid and was surprised another had already been to fix it. Another £76.72.36 invoice was presented to pay pal on the 17th November 2020. They took the ECU out (I did not authorise it) and sent it off for diagnostic which was found to ok. This was finally put back on the 14th of December 2020. Found out after chasing them for update. From start 5th November 2020 to finish, nearly 39 days of wasted time for everyone, they informed me they could not fix it.
Without malice, I politely messaged them if any money would be returned as the diagnostic was incorrect and the service had not be done.
I was informed that the service had been done on the first day and the sensor was left in the car and had to be paid for. I informed then, that the Mechanic had removed the sensor to return for re-credit. They then messaged, “yes I know but the part is all dirty now and they won’t accept it back”
I was also informed; “I didn’t charge you for any of the further Diagnosis Inspections that we did on the vehicle, so there is nothing to refund you for, if anything we should be charging you for our time we made a loss on the job”
While I do appreciate that they did try and fix the car the bottom line for me is time and money spent but still had a broken car.
Had it picked up and taken to main dealer in Chingford. The cause of the car not starting was a broken timing chain. I messaged then to confirm the service had been done but no response. All the oil had to be drained out to fix the timing chain so the oil change Mekaniks done was pointless.
Sometimes in life things go wrong, this is one of those times for Mekaniks and me. No malice

TOTALLY UNRELIABLE, AVOID!

Totally unreliable, time wasters.
Had a job done recently, never turned up as booked but did the following day. Mechanic who did work was good and got vehicle up and running.

Booked in a different job , different car, with the firm. Agreed to do the work and invoiced me without knowing what was wrong with the car!

Been waiting four days for someone to attend but have now given up! Was text numerous times asking me what was wrong with the vehicle , I told them what I thought it could be and that I am not a mechanic.

This company seem to just pick and choose ‘easy’ jobs, have no conscience about messing people around and wasting the time of others but are keen to charge for every minute of their own time.

I may invoice them for four dats of my time.

Look elsewhere is my advice as I am now doing!

Accurate diagnosis

Called Mekaniks because the Toyota dealer I went to flagged some faults but tried to rip me off.
They sent a mechanic out to my location which was convenient. He showed me that the main fault had been misdiagnosed, he ordered the necessary part and came back to fit it a couple of days later.
Great service.
