Review summary

Based on reviews, created with AI

Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many consumers expressed significant disappointment with the quality of the products, noting that biscuits often tasted poor, dry, or synthetic, and lacked the expected flavor and texture. People also frequently mentioned that the chocolate coating on various items was thin, waxy, or of low quality. Customers were also unhappy with the pricing, feeling that products were overpriced given the reduced quality and smaller sizes. Many reviewers felt misled by packaging that suggested more content than was actually present, and they criticized the company for "shrinkflation" and "skimpflation," where product sizes decreased while prices increased.

Horrid

Treat myself to a packet of dark chocolate digestives.
Really looked forward to devouring them.
What a disappointment, they are rank! Barely a lick of chocolate, no texture or taste.
Mcvities, I doubt you will still be in business soon as I cannot remember ever eating a biscuit that tasted worse. Needless to say, I won't be buying anymore.

I hate this company

I hate this company. All their products are suffering from shrinkflation and skimpflation. There club biscuits don’t even contain chocolate any more. That used to be their advert. “If you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit join our club.” I bought their Lyle Golden Syrup Cake, it was tiny and just crumbled into 1,000 pieces when I cut it. Any I managed to salvage was totally tasteless. I will never buy anything from this company again. Mcvities are a terrible company!!!

Mcvities digestives- what a let down

Mcvities digestives- what a let down. I’ve eaten these since childhood but I recently bought a packet and I had to double check the expiration date. Not sure what they’ve changed but it wasn’t giving the usual crumble texture and salty taste. Really disappointing, chucked the lot away.

200gm box dark chocolate digestives… horrible

200gm box dark chocolate digestives given to me ---- I was about to contact McVities, I thought they were fake. but looking here it seems this is what to expect. pale thin biscuit --not at all like digestives, they taste undercooked (I say 'they' but we took one each and only took one bite before throwing away.) they are disgusting.

Bought the Salted Caramel Club biscuits…

Bought the Salted Caramel Club biscuits - in a pack of 7, 5 only had the top part of the biscuits, no biscuit in it. On opening the whole pack after the disappointment of the first two realised that 3 more were half as thick as should be. Obviously no quality control. Would rather have stores own biscuits instead of Mcvities.

I recently bought a packet of mcvities…

I recently bought a packet of mcvities original digestive biscuits (a regular item in our shopping basket) and something is different with both the flavour and the texture. Have they reduced salt/sugar/fat again? They don’t taste as nice and the texture is much drier. I’m not sure they’re worth the calories anymore and I’ve been eating these since childhood!

The recently released low salt McVities…

The recently released low salt McVities Digestives are tasteless, floury and have no flavour. Compared to the original Digestives that we all know and love these are terrible. They don't even crumble properly but become like a mush in your mouth. Never again.

Poor quality!
Thin chocolate flavoured coatings. Dry biscuits, not crumbly.
So disappointed because these used to be good.
Excess packaging, shrinkflation is annoying enough.BUT this? They are in the rubbish bin!
Please sack whoever came up with this poor quality offering.
I will not buy them ever again.
That is how insulted I feel.

do not buy hobnob oaty one

my friend offered me hobnobs (the oaty one) and it wasn't up to my susceptible standard. One bite was just a bite of crumbs, worse than a granola bar and overcooked sausage rolls. Too crumby made such a mess and didnt even taste good. do not buy, i will be advising my friend to stay away from them.

Rubbish

So I was gifted a box of Mcvities Victoria biscuits for Christmas. The packaging looked great and festive. But low and behold, open up the box and what an utter disappointment. Two thin separate layers once opened there's hardly anything in there. The biscuits are so small and tasteless. I was embarrassed to offer them to my guests. Basically all you are paying for is the packaging. Well thought out mcvities you must have made a fortune this Christmas on these meagre offerings. Don't buy these next year folks you'll be throwing your money down the drain. Glad I didn't buy them or I'd be asking for a refund. Total rubbish buy something better. Mcvities Victoria are definitely off my Christmas list next year. So many better biscuits out there

ZERO STAR -Victoria biscuits

Actually should be 0 stars but not able to score ZERO
Victoria box of biscuits is a con.
Size of box compared to contents is misleading
Over sized packaging is a waste of resources, excessive and unnecessary.
This company may not be breaking laws by stating correct net weight but they are hoodwinking the consumer in thinking they are buying far more than they actually are.
A box HALF the size would still be too large.
In addition, their chocolate digestives are coated so thinly you can actually see the biscuit. Why bother actually having a chocolate biscuit range; not chocolaty and not tasty.
Our household is done with Mcvities. RIP.

Signature Caramel Dark Chocolate Rounds

This are tiny penny-sized (1 inch) buscuits and 6 to a pack (33p a biscuit). It might have been better to call them Buttons, as thats their size, setting your expectations as you know how big a Chocolate Button is. It is very disappointing this Srinkflation.
I dont like the decite that the pack gives.
Taste wise they are fine, but would you really spend 33p on buying such a small biscuit?
I would spend more on it being bigger and a treat, not maryland cookie size but real cookie size. If your GrandMa made these with love - what size would they be?

Don't buy

Will never buy again or recommend a total rip off by reducing from 550g to 490g same size box for very similar price and lots more plastic to recycle not environment friendly and fooling the public buyers thinking the product was same as last year

Victoria Biscuits - The biggest con

We have just bought McVities Victoria Biscuits - 245g for £4.75, opened the box, first shocked by the size - half of it was just a plastic packaging with holes underneath making it look bigger! And then the taste. Oh my goodness, probably the worst biscuits ever! They all taste the same - like a paper when you accidentally have a piece of it with your sandwich.
And to make it worse - it says Finest Selection on the box. Well, if this is your finest, I can't imagine what would be the worst?
This is a big scam and honestly, they should just stop making them and close down the business. Whoever bought these once, I am sure they will never buy them again!
