We played a Pirate Murder Mystery on Hogmanay 2025. 8 players in total and we all dressed up as our characters. It was a fantastic night. Everyone got into the spirit of it. It took about 3 hours but we had food too and stopped for the New Year bells.

The game was easy to follow and the characters all very individual.

We had Pirate themed music playing in the background, treasure map tablecloth, plates& napkins, and pirate themed decorations & bunting up.

I bought the Masters of Mystery kit (the 1920s theme). Although it claims to be suitable for large groups (20–30 people), it’s actually far too complex for that many participants. The full script takes ages to get through, and the game runs well beyond the suggested 2.5 hours. I wouldn’t recommend it for a large group, and I’m not even sure I’d try it with a smaller one, as the preparation is also very time-consuming.

We had a blast on New Years Eve with the Masquerade Ball murder mystery. We received clear instructions on how to play and useful tips for planning the evening including menu suggestions to fit the theme. The game can be played several times as the murderer is different each time.

We had so much fun !
Everyone made a huge effort and dressed up as their characters and mastered them perfectly.
I decorated my dining room to fit the masquerade theme too.
We took our time , got sidetracked by the gossip and accusations and had an absolute blast .
Honestly can’t wait to do it all again !

I ordered the 1920s themed kit for New Year's Eve and everyone had a great time! We all got dressed up and everyone got super into character! We even almost ran out of time and had to rush at the end because we were having too much fun! I would definitely suggest for any friend group who loves to get dressed up and play games together! I loved that even as a host I was able to participate as a player since there are recordings for the detective and you can randomize the murderer.

The Christmas Murder Mash Up game was a lot of fun. We were lucky enough to have 15 people play with us. Everybody had a great time. It was a fantastic way to share the holidays with friends and family. We'll do it again next year!

Our Dead Men Drink No Rum murder mystery was SO FUN and perfect for girls night. We loved dressing up and the recommendations for decorating, pirate talk, etc. Some of us even figured out the murderer. Even as the host, I was able to play along. Masters of Mystery made it easy to host a fun game night.

Purchased for a work party/team building activity. Wide age range of people and everyone had such a great time. The box set was so great, the physical booklets made it top tier, everyone loved the physical evidence and the inspector videos. And it was easy enough for everyone to follow along with but hard enough that only two people out of 14 guessed who the murderer was! Overall a great experience and I can’t wait to host another one!

Only critique is that I wish they had an option to buy large print version.

The game flowed well. We were guessing and looking over the evidence constantly. When I had problems, I was able to call the help line and get help.

Very detailed, lots of variety between experiences, interesting storylines, professional materials and props and some added humor as well - full package on top of getting to solve puzzles and mysteries!

The games we have used from Masters of Mystery have all been so fun. We have been able to find experiences for all sorts of occasions, age groups and interests. And anytime I have had an issue (usually user error) they have been so fast to help and so easy to work with! Highly recommend.

It was so much fun! The best date night activity for sure!

We had a lot of fun, and I can imagine it being great for really large groups. There were eight of us, and I found the characters to be a bit more two-dimensional than in other games.

I had so much fun playing this game! Everyone stepped into their roles properly and enjoyed until the very last moment! Will definitely play again! 💯 recommended!

I bought the ugly sweater Christmas murder mystery for our Christmas party. No one on my crew ever did one of these. Everyone got into character. By the end of the night they wanted to know if we can do a summer one. Thank Masters of mystery

I love mystery kits, and I love that these games give you the option to play multiple times with different outcomes. They have great game themes with interesting storylines. Fun to play and play again. Also love all the costume and menu suggestions. Fantastic customer service!

We had so much fun with the 1980s murder mystery kit! It arrived really quickly after ordering (we wanted the physical kit rather than digital) and invitations were despatched. 10 x 17 year olds were so excited play - all in character along with a handy Mum to be the inspector. The scripts are great, the prompts are easy to follow and guessing the murderer is pretty tricky. Best of all, the kit can be used again with different characters and a different murderer. So much fun. Highly recommend for adults or teenagers.

I purchased the Christmas Sweater Mystery and held a virtual team event at my work! It was a super success and coworkers are still raving about it!

This is a well put together mystery game with an 80's theme. We particularly liked the detective videos and the 80's music playlist which helped the theme.
The scripts were a great help to get into character and the names helped make it more fun!
