Failed to deliver equipment despite being reassured, even late on the expected day of drop off, that it was on the way. We had tradespeople booked and had to make alternative arrangements. Huge waste of time and additional cost. Not easy to contact, gone completely silent on chatbot and email with regard to refund of hire costs. Will have to pursue a credit card chargeback.

Dreadful communication!
Ordered a ladder for hire, an hour before the deadline of delivery they phoned to say they were unable to fulfil. Zero communication or heads-up that they were struggling, and the late notice left me entirely in the lurch.
I'd definitely avoid using them.

Arranged and paid for hire of a table saw, to be delivered to home address. During the day it was due to be delivered I received a message saying it would not be available. If I wished to have a new date I had to reply by 1500 that day. I did so, but have heard nothing since. I have attempted to communicate on live chat, to ensure a record is kept, but have received only automated responses. I have cancelled the order and have still had no response. I shall be applying to the Small Claims Court if they do not return my payment.
I wonder how much of this business actually exists?
There has been a long and apologetic response to this review on Trust Pilot (and therefore very visible) but no reply at all to my messages direct to the company.
There was a slightly happier ending to the saga. A message arrived from Mammoth to say a refund had been sent. A full refund was received. The company could have been considerably more communicative at all stages of the failed hire. No equipment was supplied and customer service was way below anything that might reasonably be expected. While the full refund restores my financial loss it does not restore my confidence in the company.

Been trying to hire a machine from Tavistock Devon e mail sent 3 day ago and again 9th nobody cant be bothered to answer. No phone number, have given up gone elsewhere

Scammers, take your money then message you a couple days before asking for photo ID and then never respond.
We specifically asked for a certain day delivery, since I had no comms I called them the day before to confirm they were coming and they said they wouldn’t be able to, don’t use this company!

Issues from say one.
Was not delivered on expected date had to email 3 times to get an answer eventually was delivered 3 days late which cost me extra in labour.
I was told i would be refunded the days that i had lost, i did not receive a refund!
I have now emailed 6 times asking about my £500 deposit that has not been sent back although the digger went back in perfect condition. So i am now down £500 + £58 for late delivery. I have contacted their customer service now 9 times now in total with no response
I still receive no replies to my emails, i don’t believe this company is working with good intentions they will take any money they can get their hands on. AVOIT AT ALL COST!!!

Don't waste your time and money with this company. Ordered an item for a set day. Later had a call a few days later to say they couldn't delivery the day i requested and would need to be the following week. Then received the item which was faulty after 4 days of use, and then refused to part refund me for the days it was faulty. All they care about is taking your money. No customer service and a nightmare to get hold of. I've now realised theres so many really good honest companies to hire from than this shameful company! Stay clear!!!!

I ordered a digger for delivery on Friday. Was told over phone I could submit drivers license as proof of address. Emailed all required information across. Heard nothing back from them to say any issues. Phoned on Friday afternoon to check when it would likely be delivered. Was told order wasn’t processed and they would escalate to manager for same day delivery. Waited a hour or so then called back. Was told manager would phone. I then received a email to say ordered wasn’t processed because I hadn’t provided proof of address despite being told drivers license was appropriate. Still waiting on a refund.
Happy to take my money for the hire. I select a date. I get a call 1 day before the date advising "no aerators due to time of the year. We can deliver next friday."
I take a day off on the friday after already losing a weekend with a ton of soil on my drive. I receive an email, not a call to say:
Good morning,
Unfortunately we are struggling to get a hold of the Petrol Lawn Aerator for delivery today. We can continue to try and source & advise the earliest possible dates. Due to the time of year the suppliers do currently have wait lists and have been advising that is it best to check back in daily to see if they have had any kit returned.
Please let us know how you wish to proceed?
Kind regards,
Kelly
If you cannot source the tools, why are you taking money? Why are you promising dates? Why are you emailing people on the day or calling the day before with this sort of ridiculous excuse.
Avoid at all costs!
still waiting for a refund of £300 after 3 weeks of returning item in perfect condition
this is the worst company i ever dealt with by a mile
1 star is too much!
**DO NOT ORDER THROUGH THIS COMPANY**
Booked and paid for same day delivery of a scaffold tower. When i opened a live chat a couple of hours later for an eta i received a snotty message informing me that i had just been sent a ticket by her colleague but wouldnt discuss anything with me.
The ticket advised it wasn't going to be a same day anymore but they could do a next day so i had to accept this but requested an early delivery which i was advised it would be. The next day came and a few hours in i called and started a live chat again, on the live chat i was apparently next in the queue for over 2hrs and i called several times, Natasha said she was calling the delivery team to get me an ETA and would get back to me, then i received another service ticket via email to say she had raised a ticket for them to reply to me. It has been 4 days now since this was ordered and i have had neither a response nor a scaffold tower delivered. I have emailed asking for a refund but my expectations are low on this. I have ordered another through B&Q.
Took my money, due delivery today. Absolutely no communication and a chatbot that doesn’t reply.
I want my money back!
I order a set of ladder 2 weeks in advance cost me 71 pounds, the ladder never turned up.
Made me look like a mug, I had to use the customers ladder.
Lost me 3 days of work.
I will never be ordering from this company again.

Absolutely abysmal service. It would be easier and after the amount of my time they have wasted, cheaper, to have boufht the tool I needed and arranged transport from one end of the country to the other. I would rather poke a rusty nail in my eyes than use this company again.

Hired a chipper, didn't turn up. Quick to take your money, apparently will take a few days to return it. Certainly will not be using them again. Poor communication throughout

I wanted to hire but the website did not make clear VAT was to be added & also right at check out after entering all my details they added damage waiver for £16.00. + VAT. Not good enough. Be transparent about charges BEFORE checkout

Rented a dehumidifier which never turned up. Still waiting for my refund a week later so have to go through my credit card company now to get refunded.
Definition of a scam company,.

There are an intermediary and do not have the equipment on site. I booked a stump grinder for two days couldn't return the grinder to a store so had to pay for an extra day and wait for it to be collected by the real tool hire company. Within the first minutes of using the grinder I clipped a car tyre as I tried to grind away a rootball. I immediately stopped to check the machine and noticed there was a tooth missing from the wheel. I couldn't use the machine after this. The tooth is a consumable part that gets replaced when it is worn down and cost in the region of £11. Mammoth Hire retained my full £200 deposit. Avoid at all costs and go directly to a genuine tool hire company.

Absolutely atrocious service. Placed an order on Friday for the same day collection of the tool needed. Paid £17 extra to do so, after all the add ons the bill came up to nearly £200 for a tool that allegedly cost £70 to hire. Got an email confirming order with aline ‘non refundable’ at the bottom of it. They never confirmed the address where the order was meant to be collected from, they never been in touch to say it can be collected. Friday went by and after 4 o’clock (they allegedly close at 5), I requested a full refund as it was clear it wasn’t happening. But how to request a refund when a company does not have a phone number, their live chat is run by a bot and they still have not responded to my email asking for Money back until Monday evening?
I only now looked at trust pilot and google reviews and no wonder everyone is messaging here, as they cannot get through anywhere else to get their money back. The company is a scam and a waste of time - making you believe you will complete the jobs you had planned in time, where they have no intensions of even letting you hire the tools.
AVOID AT ALL COST
