Most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the product quality, noting that jewelry often broke quickly, tarnished, or caused allergic reactions, even when advertised as surgical steel or waterproof. People also felt that the pricing was too high for the poor quality received. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with staff, describing them as helpful, kind, and professional, particularly during ear piercing services. Conversely, a small portion of people felt that some staff members were rude, unprofessional, or provided inadequate service, including issues with piercing accuracy or hygiene practices.

Terrible Piercing Experience at Lovisa Eyre Square

I had a really disappointing and frustrating experience at Lovisa Eyre Square, Galway after going in to get my nose pierced as a birthday gift to me. They advertised the piercing as “free” and only charged for the stud, but the stud alone was very expensive. A few days later, the stud fell out on its own, even though I followed all aftercare instructions.

When I went back to the store, the staff were incredibly rude, dismissive, and actually shouted at me, saying it wasn’t their issue. They weren’t willing to help in any way and told me I’d need to pay the full price again to get it redone. They showed no responsibility or concern at all.

Because Lovisa refused to help, I went to another professional piercing studio to get advice. They explained that Lovisa uses piercing guns, which are not recommended for nose piercings because they can cause trauma and poor healing. I also learned that many people have had similar issues – studs falling out, infections, and general poor aftercare. The stud they used didn’t even have a proper lock – just a screw that can easily fall out.

What’s worse, Lovisa makes you sign multiple consent forms, likely to avoid any responsibility if things go wrong. They also don’t share proper information about the products or procedures, which feels very unprofessional and shady.

I would not recommend Lovisa at all for any kind of piercing. You’re better off going to a proper, reputable piercing studio – places like AWOL, Tribal Ink, Allure, or The Ink Factory (if you're in Galway or nearby). These are actual professionals who use safe methods and offer proper advice and support.

Don’t fall for the "free piercing" gimmick at Lovisa – it's not worth the money, the risk, or the way they treat their customers.

No customer privacy respect!

My recent experiences shopping at Lovisa have been nothing short of frustrating and unacceptable. The ordeal began when a sales assistant informed me that I couldn't make a purchase without providing my email address. Despite my insistence on maintaining my privacy, I found myself in an unnecessary and lengthy debate just to buy a simple pair of earrings. Eventually, after far too much resistance, they processed my sale and handed me a paper receipt, but the whole experience left me incredulous.

Hoping to chalk it up as an isolated incident, I returned to a different Lovisa store to purchase some jewelry, only to face the exact same pressure again. This time, when I attempted to return a bracelet, I was once again told that a refund would only be processed if I provided my email address. Once more, I found myself in a frustrating standoff before finally receiving my refund.

It's utterly appalling that Lovisa imposes such tactics on both employees and customers. Their customer service is shocking, and it’s hard to understand how they continue to operate this way without any accountability. This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and I can't believe they get away with it!

The worst shopping experience ever

The worst shopping experience ever! I visited the shop this afternoon 9.04.2025 at Ealing Broadway store, and i don't think i will ever go back. The girls, one wearing hijab, another one with dark long hair working behind tills were using swear words in front of customer!! They were more interested in the conversation rather than waiting customers. A couple of the customers were actually 2 little girls with their mum who wanted to have their ears pierced. They actually left the shop to gave their ears pierced elsewhere! Using inappropriate language between the staff members is completely not acceptable and gives a horrible impression of the store!!! When i said to the girls not to argue because it doesn't look good they both shouted at me that they are not arguing they have issues with the till. I paid for my item and it was quite disrespectful an she took my earrings wrapped them in a bit of a paper and threw it in front of me like i am a piece of s... showing me a very bad attitude. Didn't even offer the bag and it was very painful for her to give me one when i asked for it. Completely no manners at all! Shocking!! I won't recommend this store to anyone unless the management will make some changes.

AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, AVOID

I made an order 2 days ago. They have not acknowledged it. I have emailed 4 times to cancel as the order has not been processed or dispatched. Not a single reply. Extremely shocked as I thought this was a good retailer. Clearly not. Very disappointed. Update, despite all my emails to cancel in the past few days, I have now received a notification that the order has JUST been shipped.........I am livid and advise that you avoid the incompetent company at all costs.

DO NOT SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING…

DO NOT SHOP HERE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO GIVE AWAY YOUR EMAIL JUST TO RETURN FAULTY GOODS.

I had TWO POOR EXPERIENCES at LOVISA stores in EALING and HAMMERSMITH. On both occasions, staff REFUSED TO PROVIDE A PROPER RECEIPT UNLESS I GAVE THEM MY EMAIL ADDRESS. When I declined, they only offered a GIFT RECEIPT—which is NOT VALID FOR REFUNDS.

To make matters worse, the necklace I purchased BROKE THE SAME DAY. My daughter had bought it with her own POCKET MONEY, and when I returned to the store, they REFUSED TO ISSUE A REFUND WITHOUT A RECEIPT—even though they WOULDN’T PROVIDE ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE!

Eventually, they managed to TRACK THE TRANSACTION THROUGH THE TILL and process the return, but this was a completely AVOIDABLE AND UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE.

FORCING CUSTOMERS TO GIVE UP PERSONAL INFORMATION TO RECEIVE A BASIC RECEIPT IS UNACCEPTABLE, and THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT WAS EXTREMELY POOR.

visited Saturday 29th Leeds trinity at around 3pm with my autistic brother and my sister. I just needed to quickly nip in to grab something and my autistic brother who was already overstimulated accidentally popped a jelly fruit. This brown hair medium build worker had rudely said “clean this up now” my autistic brother apologised but refused to wipe it up (he had nothing to wipe it up with) which she started shouting saying he was a “di£k and he is gonna clean it” at this point my sister had offered to clean it up (it was a small spillage) which she flat out refused pointed at my brother and said “no he’s gonna clean it” whilst threatening to get security, I then offered to clean it up she refused. She then proceeded screaming and my autistic brother was getting irritated and more overwhelmed. At this rate due to her attitude and her poor customer service I told my brother to leave it so she could clean it herself and we left the shop. This experience was absolutely disgusting as someone who also works in retail this behaviour is unacceptable and quite frankly shouldn’t be tolerated. She would have spent less time just cleaning it herself than standing there shouting at my autistic brother.

PIERCING EXPERIENCE

DO NOT and I mean DO NOT ever get your piercings done at Lovisa. I recently got my lobes done at the store, they used a gun as well which should’ve been my first red flag, anyways three days later my lobes were soo swollen.. however they had used a butterfly back for my earring since it was done with a gun, meaning there was not enough room for my earrings to swell.

So for the next week I had to live with big puffy ears, mind you my ears were hurting like crazy.. i'm 99% sure this is because they were infected.

Anyways during that same week I experienced lots of pain in my ears and it turns out that my ear swallowed the front of my earring! I had to literally pull it out from the butterfly back which honestly hurt so bad. This is because of many reasons, firstly the earring post was too short so my swollen ears could not contain the earring itself, the earring I was given was tiny, literally the same size as the earring post, and because the butterfly back was in soo tight that it was pushing the front of my earring inside my ear.

Moral of the story, avoid getting your ears pierced at commercial stores like Lovisa and actually get it done by a professional piercer who uses a needle, please! I’m appalled by my experience and will never ever visit the store again.

Bad quality and service

At the Eaton Center (Montreal) Lovisa, I had a bad experience. Firstly, the jewelry (earrings) broke as soon as I opened it after buying it. I decided to go back the next day to get a refund, but they told me it was final sale and couldnt do anything. I was shocked, because no one told me it was final sale. I had to come back the day after AGAIN to speak to the manager, and she was so rude. She was impatient, didn't even bother to smile and couldnt understand my issue. Spent nearly 40 minutes there to get to my point and I didn't get a refund but an exchange, in which I had to pay again for a new pair because it was even more expensive. Would not recommend their jewelry as it's expensive for the quality (bad) you receive, and most things look too yellow, are way too fragile.

Unreliable & poor customer service

I ordered these earrings for an event. As per their website, these were to arrive within 2-3 business days. However, they didn’t. They’ve only just arrived and unfortunately I’ve had to buy different earrings for my event.

I kept liaising with them throughout and said I no longer needed the items. At no point did they tell me I wouldn’t be able to return the items once received - if I had known, I would have rejected the delivery.

Instead they told me once received I should return the items for a refund as they can no longer cancel. Now that the items have finally arrived, they’re telling me I would have to return the items back to them at my own costs and even if I do, they won’t accept the return

Stay away from these cowboys!

Absolutely worst pain ever

I got a helix piercing done in lovisa a week ago. She pierced with gun which is not good and she didn’t sterilise it leaving me with a deadly infection in my ear a week later. My ear went so swollen and purple and I was in agony. Constant throbbing and stinging. I had to go to the doctors to get antibiotics. I take 5 a day and it cost 100€ extra for medical bills. Definitely never getting a lovisa piercing again

Worked for this business

Worked for this business, and committed myself to working hard for the entire company full time from my experience, the company was completely judgemental and got involved in my personal lifestyle. They judged me for being honest, the senior managers Helena Klassmann & Sara Mclean are not honest enough to admit that they were wrong. The fact is they should be really careful about their own actions. They are frauds and should be prosecuted/punished jailed for their crimes. Unethical behaviour towards hard working people in a stressful and demanding environment. Criminal justice system needs to action as they are judging and being involved in workers personal rights abuses and corruption.

AVOID!

Brought flat back earrings, cost me £15.50.
Wore it a couple of days and it turned green as well as turning my ear piercings green! Even the stones fell out... so gutted! No refund nor exchange!
Nearly every item I've purchased from there has discoloured even the gold plated!
The quality is horrid for the price.

Jewellery is the only bad thing, buts it’s so bad I have to give it a 1 star.

Honestly I’m giving it a one star purely for the actual jewellery itself rather than the store and the employees.

The jewellery is terrible, yes they all look really beautiful however the quality is terrible and will rust and tarnish within a few weeks.. not what I’m looking for. I stopped buying at this company in my early twenties, and I used to shop here in my late teens. And over the years that I shopped there, every single product had rusted, even the ones I never wore. I had loads of earring and necklaces that I bought from deals and promotions but never wore, and they have all gone green and lost their colour. I have also had infections from the earrings, which weren’t bad but still happened regardless.

I’ve never had an issue with the employees, or the stores themselves. The merchandising, item designs and everything is brilliantly done, and you can tell they put thought into it. But the I can’t give more than one star due to the whole basis of your company which is THE JEWELLERY. It’s a huge let down. Such a shame honestly Lovisa, you could’ve been a great brand, otherwise other than your products you seem to excel in everything else.
