I’ve been a loyal customer for about 9 months and only a few hiccups. Sometimes you don’t get what you order, but I always am given notice. The one major flaw was that they forgot to pack my box on one delivery day so I couldn’t get my groceries that week. I almost exclusively shop with Imperfect Foods so that was a big bummer. But I love the selection, especially now with the Misfits Market merge. So many more items!

It’s been awhile since I tried them but I just remembered my experience and decided to write a review. I only placed one order with them, and I realized after unpacking my order that tons of items I ordered and paid for were missing. I wouldn’t have even realized since it’s hard to keep track of things you ordered a week ago if not for the fact that I ordered beets. An item I seldom buy. So the fact I bought them was on my brain. Once I realized the beets weren’t there it set off an alarm and I realized tons of other stuff was missing after cross checking with my list. If I hadn’t bought those beets I never would have even noticed. Trust lost instantly ! Lame. 😒

I've been a member since 2018, back when the company was called Imperfect Produce. The prices are about on par with my local grocery stores in Maryland but shipping is included! My box is prefilled with fresh veggies and frequent purchases, making eating more fruits and veggies really easy.
As the company has grown there have been small quality hiccups with my orders. Here's the thing, though: when I report so much as a $1 snack bar missing I am IMMEDIATELY refunded. The service and care is fantastic.
The new app allows me to track my order so that I can get everything into the fridge and freezer fast. Reusable or returnable ice packs and freezer bags reduce waste even more.
The drivers are fantastic. While UPS and FedEx are blasting through my neighborhood, tossing packages, and trampling roses, I always see the Imperfect vans carefully navigating our streets and yards. When I had a broken wrist a driver even helped me carry my boxes just inside the front door out of the heat.

I have been a member for over a year. I go less to the stores. I feel great saving on food waste and gas. And the food I order always comes perfectly packaged. I get to try new things. I have loved everything that has come in my box weekly. Easy and simple and makes meal planning a breeze.

Can’t give zero stars.
My order was canceled today and I received this absolutely unacceptable message:
Hi (name),
Unfortunately, we've canceled your order this week. Your delivery driver was on their way to you, but they noticed they didn't have your box on their van and unfortunately we aren't able to facilitate a redelivery. We realize that you likely made plans around these groceries and sincerely apologize for not reliably delivering them when we promised.
Here's what you need to know about your cancelled order:
- You will, of course, not be charged for your order this week
- I've added a $5.99 credit to your account
- Your next delivery is scheduled for May 16th
- You can alter your delivery frequency here
We take poor customer experiences such as these extremely seriously and are doing everything we can to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Best,

Wow that is bad service.
Hi Karisa,
What YOU need to do is reschedule a delivery this week, re-pick this week’s order, deliver this week’s order, and do not charge me for this week’s order.
That, Karisa, is customer service. You messed up, you make it right.
A poorly crafted excuse and $5.99 credit does not make it right.

I understand that the food coming is “imperfect”, however rotten produce and small portion sizes with very large price tags make it difficult to support this idea. My order cost $87. A lot of the food was the same brand as what is at my local grocery store, yet I paid much more for worse quality using Imperfect Foods. The idea behind the company is a good one, however paying more for less is not practical in this economy. Unfortunately, several of my items were inedible, and ended up in the trash anyway.

This company was fantastic until maybe about a month ago. My orders are a day late without warning or communication, the past 3 orders were not correct in the slightest, but my most recent order had a completely opened package of raw chicken that spewed all over my produce, and I STILL haven't heard back from their customer service team. If misfit just acquired them, I doubt they will get any better, as I had nothing but issues with that company prior to them merging. Save your money. You'll have to throw it all out anyway.

Honestly I was hoping I would love this service, but after seeing produce cost nearly double (and sometimes even more) what it would cost at the grocery store, I’m just disappointed. My card got charged before I even confirmed that I wanted a subscription at all and the prices were horrible.

Always happy with the available foods and deliveries.

Although I enjoyed a couple of grab bag deliveries because I had forgotten to skip, the items were interesting yet pricey. I mean I get that gas isn’t cheap and the packing also yet this is not for me. I would rather stick to my old familiar products from my grocery store.

This is not a good service for anyone who is disabled or a senior. The service has been inconsistent. The products delivered have often times had more then cosmetic issues, especially produce and dairy products. I've received rotting tangelos, mini cucumbers that went bad within a day when immediately refrigerated in the packaging they came in. I've received organic sour cream that was past it's time and tasted horrific. I've received some kind of product identified as Avocado Mayonnaise. It was completely separated and would not stir back up to anything comparable to mayonnaise. I got some kind of other dairy product, maybe kiefer or something of that nature that smelled to high heaven. The products they make from whatever rescued ingredients they use are pretty good although some of the better ones are never consistently available. My favorites never had enough of the individually wrapped pieces in the bag to make them worth the price assigned. The most concerning issue for me is that the delivery is some times rescheduled at the last minute, delivered after dark as late as 9 pm, and placed in the wrong area. I provided concise and complete directions where to leave the delivery. For some reason some of the drivers can't seem to put it together. I've had to literally stand out side watching the road to direct the delivery person where to put it. I live in an apartment on the ground floor with my own entrance. The delivery has been left at the front door up a very long staircase before when the owner was not home. I am not physically able to retrieve anything going up stairs. This order today was left at the top of the back staircase in the rain; no one home to retrieve it. I was actually in my apartment. The delivery person did not knock and obviously did not read the directions. I still can't get it and this has been more then 2 to 3 hours ago with it sitting in pouring rain and on a very wet stair step with the rain water draining off the patio. I did chat with customer service The representative did try to contact the dispatch team to see if the delivery person was still in the area to retrieve the box and bring it to my door at ground level. They never got back with her probably because she is in another country time zone and they most likely left even though delivery drivers are still out on the road. So, this means that if you have a complacent delivery person taking care of you, then you may not get the order into your home and refrigerator before it most likely becomes thawed or spoiled. The customer service agent did provide me a refund for the previous bad product I received and said she was reimbursing my card with the amount for my order that was delivered today but could not be retrieved. She did say it would be back in my account some time tomorrow. I hope that is true. As a senior, I can't afford to spend money for nothing. The intent of this service is to recover good food and provide cheaper product. It seems recovery includes some food that should be discarded as inedible and most food that is a good bit more expensive then if I had purchased it at a grocery store. I understand that organic product is inherently more expensive although there is a good deal of markup on the imperfect organics over and above what the market would sell them for. The food is definitely not cheaper. I am disappointed. I had hoped this would be a way of saving money and assisting me with my inability to shop myself. Previously I had been using Instacart to shop for me, deliver, and actually bring the groceries into my home to place on the counter. I added the cost of the items I was paying for with Imperfect Foods and found my grocery bill was much higher even if I had to supplement things needed during the course of a week. This may work for folks who are literally looking at this as a charitable effort that does not get applied to a tax return. LOL I'm not able to do that. I can't afford surprise products I don't consume. I had marked for no dairy but the surprise items included dairy or represented in an order that I did not pick. In the end, I feel the company is not concerned about retention; doesn't oversee their pickers and packers enough to ensure quality, and lacks the ability to perform quality reviews on a regular basis to ensure what they advertise and say on there website is matching what they put out. Associating the primary concern of your business with conservation, green initiatives, and preventing hunger is always a selling point for anything new and different. The thing is, it's the inconsistencies that don't match the hype that prove otherwise.

I was delivered romaine hearts, two lemons, and scallions. Total: $17.83. Seriously? Such a scam.

I've been using imperfect foods for about a year now and I've had great luck with excellent produce and their vegan items are much cheaper than what I could get at a brick & mortar store nearby. I haven't had any issues with their customer service and if an item was truly unacceptable to me, I just sent them an email and they refunded my card without delay or issue. My only annoyance has been that the delivery person won't pick up my returned ice packs but does take the silver insulation bag so I've just given up on the ice packs.

Like all the other reviews, I got a box without ordering one. I had to put a credit card just to look at their products and prices, and then got a notification that my card is charged.
update: They refunded me for the value of the box, which I appreciated. But I wouldn't shop from them anymore.

I appreciate that you offer an option to skip a box, but if you really cared about food waste - you'd offer an option to opt-in. I'm about to receive my last ever box from you, half of which I have no interest in eating.
Keep greenwashing, you charlatans
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
While Imperfect Foods started as a noble endeavor, they have seriously lost their way. I never received any "imperfect" produce, most of their inventory is no different than what you'd find at a decent organic grocer, and to top it off they automatically fill your cart with items you don't want each week and put the onus on you to change or remove them by a certain time.
This is a despicable business practice and hopefully they will be out of business soon.

Today my 1st order arrived, and I was pleasantly surprised by quality of the produce. Nothing in the box looked imperfect to me. The overall look and condition of the frozen and fresh items were above my expectations. The cost of the items relative to the local store was similar as the items received were organic. And in the local store organic is more expensive to begin with. I think that many of the people previous reviews might have been nonorganic items possible. They don't last as long as organic.

I was a customer a few years ago. I cancelled my subscription because it was too expensive and products weren't great. Well, someone hacked into my account and restarted the subscription and scheduled a delivery. I contacted Imperfect Foods when I saw the order confirmation email. But they still delivered to this person who lives in NY (I live in MD) and even though the charge was pending then then put the charge through on my credit card even though they knew it was fraud. They have been NO help at all. They told me to take it up with my credit card company. This company and customer service are horrible!
