Had my first ever trip on spirit of discovery - did not like it very much colour scheme etc looked like a care home. Being single they charged me the same as two people sooooo not worth it. Excursions were not too good and for me all the stuff they do on board is the same at home in the village? If you like this kind of stuff and surroundings the same as at home then this is for you. I found it very regimented and if you fall out of line it is very difficult you kept being got at all the time verbally they do not take into account that all people are different.. The food was ok desserts extremely sweet, but ask for food if you are not well out of the hours they do not like it. One has to beg.
Found they did their best but they had very strict guide lines like being at school. Needless to say will never go on a Saga Cruise again although i am up there in age I am young at heart and found this cruise stifling and I paid far too much money could have taken someone with me for free at the rate they charged it is just not ethical.
PS. sorry Deb but wont be traveling with you again what something a bit more challenging and stimulating Thank you for your standard letter.

Tried to enter passport details online. Large banner advised details to be entered exactly as in the passport, however, “British Citizen” is not available in the nationality drop down list. Chose “United Kingdom” which is a country and not a nationality but was unable to then edit. So, exact details required or not? To make matters worse, the website crashes completely when trying to enter my partners details. Resorted to phoning to get details entered, call handler was polite and put in the details but couldn’t care less about the problems with the website.

I would like to praise the experience I had in contacting a member of staff to discuss some queries with a holiday I was interested in. My call was promptly answered once I had got through the pre-recorded information which I must say seemed to take quite a lot of time. The member of staff was very friendly, professional and patient with helping me with my queries. I am hoping the holiday will prove to be just as good.

My experience on booking my holiday to Croatia was excellent due to Saga's Manisha's help. She managed to get a room for me to be with my friend. The phone call took half an hour and just about everything was arranged. Am now looking forward to my holiday with excitement. I would recommend Saga holidays to everyone.

Just booked a holiday and was assisted by Mandy she made the process enjoyable and made me feel that I was in good hands. If the holiday goes as well as the booking process then I can't wait!
Thanks Mandy

I booked a Saga trip to India and experienced great frustration attempting to obtain an evisa. I spent most of this afternoon on the application process but the website repeatedly crashed. I telephoned Saga and assistant Chandan Shekhawat spent a very long time helping me complete the process. He showed great patience, professionalism and humour. I rarely write reviews but he deserved praise. Thank you. Keith Saga customer S269479.

Pleasantly surprised at how caring I found them to be

I had a great time, seeing some wonderful sites. The tour managers knowledge, calm and friendly approach made me feel very supported. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t good for a lot of trip, hence not five star, but I still enjoyed myself tremendously

Just returned from a Magic of the Nile Cruise. It was very well organised. The Tour Manager was excellent, and all the arrangements worked well. The Tour Guide was very knowledgeable and his enthusiasm for the subject was apparent throughout. Altogether a very enjoyable and worthwhile trip. Michael

Sophie, who booked me onto this holiday was very helpful and friendly and gave me the service I would expect from Saga. Unfortunately I can't say the same for Trevor who went through the Insurance with me. Not only was he not very friendly but as soon as I said I was receiving a very low dose of medication for VERY MILD depression he was like a dog with a bone and kept asking me the same questions about it over and over again. I know he had to ask me if I'd ever been admitted to hospital for it (No) or been to a psychiatrist (no) but there was absolutely no empathy there at all. He didn't once say something like "Sorry for all these questions" but, as I say, kept going on and on and even though I said it was very MILD depression he didn't seem to hear that. If I wasn't such a resilient person I would have been left feeling very stigmatised but as I know lots of people suffer from some level of depression, I don't. He either needs further training or to be "let go" so he can't inflict his unsympathetic attitude on others. If I was marking each separately, it would be 5 stars for Sophie and none for Trevor. Very disappointing and not what I would expect from Saga.

The pre-visit information was good although perhaps a little too much, a bit repetitive and some unnecessary information on Malta. The chauffeur was excellent and the time change was well received. The flight was good and we were well received at Luxor airport. The Sonesta hotel staff were very friendly and helpful and the cabins in MS Livingstone were excellent except for the bathroom floorboards which were very creaky and annoying.

Website not working so not able to book extra leg room. EasyJet not a great airline to choose they ran out of food and drink on the way home.
First hotel was good but restricted to two glasses of wine at meal times only. The rest had to be paid for.
Rather regimented for a holiday without flexibility.
Boat on the Nile was not 5* or anywhere near. The party before us and our party had several of us who experienced diarrhoea stopping some of the visits for us as toilet facilities were few and basic.
Bar on deck was always late to open but closed bang on time.
Sunbeds very tatty and meant you experienced pain from the metal bars. Didn’t know we would be sharing the boat with another group. In the way back unable to use the pool due to several children coming on board and playing in the already small pool, no go area. Not a child dissliker but not when I am expecting adults only in a very small area.
Food was tasty and room with upgrade at booking was lovely and looked after well. Cleaners bucket water was always dirty so not surprised there were upset tummies.
Tipping is a must or they just don’t help.
Women are rarely seen and as visitors faced an atmosphere of distain. The Saga guide and Egyptian expert were really good. Boat staff mostly too but some did find hospitality.
I’m told by everyone in our group this was not a good example of a Saga holiday so will try Saga again and keep my fingers crossed, for this reason only.

From arrival to departure we were very well looked after, our hosts Ayman and Ahmed did an excellent job keeping us organised keeping us informed and keeping us entertained. The schedule was very full but with well timed breaks at the appropriate time to keep us rested and focussed. The magic of the Nile was truly magical, we had a great time.
