Worst estate agent in the Midlands.

Goodchilds forgot to get me to sign a new contract with themselves on a house i was renting out. I decided to leave because they weren't providing the service i was paying for. Because of this they wanted money for leaving.
When they realized i didn't have a contract ,they went after the previous owner who hadn't owned the property for 2 years (my mother)
They sent her threatening solicitors letters asking for money . My mother is a pensioner and in the end had to come to an agreement or face court even though she didn't own the property. In theory they had a weak case, but any decent, honest estate agent would see the mistake they made in not getting the new owner (which they knew about) to sign a new contract.
Because they forgot to get us to sign a contract ..we knew nothing about the termination charge.
Instead of going off principle, they tried their hardest to get as much money as possible from pensioners .
Goodchilds Wolverhampton, you are a greedy company and a disgrace to the profession. You have no principles and will do all it takes to line your own pockets. Have you not looked at your horrendous reviews and thought how can i change this? Don't you feel ashamed how most of your customers think your company provides terrible service?
I hope you're happy that your company is rated one of the worst in the country !
PS
I've just read your reply and your analogy doesn't make sense and it looks like you've embarrassed yourself.
Why would anyone pay a painter who painted a house which they didn't own?
Just like my mother didn't own the house for two years(which you knew about) but you made her pay because the new owner left and you forgot to get him to sign a contract.

Reply from Goodchilds Estate Agents & Lettings

Dear Mr. Pritchard

Thank You for taking the time to write a review, I am of course sorry that you are not happy with the outcome of the result however I must stress that your review is not correct.

You emailed Goodchilds in October 2016 advised you were looking to terminate the service, we replied back on the 3rd October 2016 advising this was unfortunate and asking for the reason as to why, you replied with your reason and this was a personal reason which I will of course not publish on the review site however service was not mentioned nor was the reason.

I fully appreciate that we did instruct our solicitor to take this matter further as the agreement had not been ended correctly, this would be like asking someone to paint your house and then when they have finished not paying them the money.

I must stress I am sorry you are not happy with the outcome however I must stress your reason for leaving is not the same mentioned in the review as it was to Goodchilds, we did try to resolve this amicably.

Thank You

Customer service isn't something these …

Customer service isn't something these people specialize in. I had to go 2 months without heating with no assistance in getting temporary heating sorted and also paying full rent. It has also taken them a month for my deposit after leaving the property. The email responses aren't professional at all and if you call too complain you get nowhere or some girl raising her voice at you.

Absolutely appalling service.

Tried selling my property and purchasing my next property with these guys.
Tried belittling me over the phone and all they care about is their percentage and money.
They do not have the customer at heart like they say. I wouldnt believe a word that comes out of their mouths. They promised me loads and i couldnt even get a call back. Never kept in touch and kept me in the dark through the whole prosess.
Avoid like the plague!

Awful company...

Rude and dishonest staff at the Walsall branch. Charge hefty fees at every single opportunity - there is even a £75 fee to leave. The property was misrepresented, the 'shared garden' was actually an overgrown mess at the rear of the neighbour's garden. Every potential repair I reported was never followed up' let alone fixed. When I reported the problems again, they feigned ignorance. As an existing tenant, on entering the office you could cut the atmosphere with a knife. They glance at each other and look very uncomfortable.

The flat was cold damp, draughty, walls were covered in mildew within a few days with condensation often dripping from the ceilings. Complained about various issues but no repairs, not even minor ones, were ever carried out and as far as they were concerned I viewed the property and accepted it "as is". They are interested only in money and will rinse your for every fee imaginable at any opportunity. They are the epitome of the worst of private letting. One of my complaints was actually met with "we just wanted to get a tenant in". Avoid.

The Agent of Choice - Stafford Branch (Goodchilds)

As a diversified residential landlord with interests across England, I hold numerous relationships with various letting agencies. In respect of my Midlands based properties the agent of choice for me is Goodchilds. I have continuously contracted them since 2009 and am impressed with the value for money and clear cut services they provide. Unlike most other agencies they do not require any upfront fees nor tie you down with a restrictive instruction agreement. I find that Mike from the agency who has handled my properties for years, operates on a performance basis, providing maximum efficiency for everyone involved in the process. The dedicated team at the Stafford branch are outstanding at communicating between all parties and are always prepared to go that extra mile. It’s clear to me that they really do enjoy what they do. Thanks guys!

Excellent service!

Excellent service from start to finish.
We dealt with Katie from the Wolverhampton branch, who was always willing to go above and beyond to deal with our enquiries and to generally make a stressful time easier. Our house sold within three weeks and I am confident it was down to the hard work Katie put in to sought out the interest.
We couldn't recommend her enough!!
Thank you to the team for all your hard work.

Absolute joke of a company! Took one month for return of our deposit as tenants. Never answer the phone or emails. All smiles when taking your money then useless if any problems occur. If I save one person from using these clowns as a result of this review. Then I shall die a happy man. Oh when your on hold for 30mins plus you can also listen as an added bonus to the md, telling you how great his company is! Haha what a joke needs to get off his butt and stop recording phone messages and take a good long hard look at the staff he is employing. As the wednrsbury branch probably have a combined iq of about 4. Use these muppets at your peril!!!!!

Great service and i wasn't even there client!

Brought a house in Brownhills and Good child's were advertising it. Abbie really worked her magic between the solicitors, myself and client making all the cogs run smoothly. At times I thought there was a catch and i would have to pay for there service. However this was not the case so if I was treated so well then the actual client must be super thrilled! Thank you Abbie for all your work.

RUDE STAFF!!

Horrible Agency, really rude staff. Called lots of times for about 1 month because in the property there is a oven that is not working and a broke wardrobe. They always tell me that they will call the owner, but nothing is been removed yet. Feel like they been there only to answer the calls and don't work at all.
Once again, been paying the rent by direct debit and they gave me the wrong account number (they said an old one). They've been calling me lots of times because "I didn't pay the rent". Gone to the bank, give them the ministatement, and after 5 min. they said that it's an old bank account.
Gone back to the bank again, (for one of their mistake, I have to work for them). I was talking to the staff in the bank and the agency called me once, I didn't answer because too busy to understand what was going on with the rent.
Gone back to the agency and after explain what the bank said to me a member of a staff been really rude, (female with brown hair), she said that they tried to call me because they found the money.
I hope she's gonna find another job because, darling you can't really interact with people with that attitude.

Customer service was terrible

After being promised on numerous occasions that a member of staff or the manager would contact me the call never materialised.i really think this company's telephones only work one way unless they want something from you. Took me six weeks to get my deposit back all I can say is never again no one seems to know what they are doing glad to be free of them 😐

Cowboys

Despite repeat phone calls to the Warks, the owners of the business, I did not get one returned call. They took me for £4,500. Avoid like the plague, do not trust anything they say.

Excellent service

Abbie from brown hills branch was wonderful. We had a few issues and she got stuck in and kept me and my solicitor informed all the way through.
She made a very stressful time easier.
Thank you Abbie and the team. I now have the keys to the start of the rest of my life.

terrible customer service.

from day one goodchilds have been horrendous. I told them i wanted to move into the property the 2nd week of january as i had a week in raleigh for naval training the following week, the estate agent (tamworth branch) told me he would have us in there in plenty of time so long as we got the paperwork done which we had. unfortunately i kept having to push to get into there even though the property was empty months before. We eventually moved in 1 day before i had to go away. roll on december and the toilet decided to stop flushing, i attempted to get in touch with goodchilds tamworth a number of times to sort this out as well as a washing machine that was eating our clothes. Unfortunately i couldnt get through to them so i got the toilet sorted myself. after a little bit of research it turns out goodchilds tamworth shut down which i was not made aware of. eventually i found out that the wolverhampton branch had taken over on their behalf. I eventually got through to them and managed to get the washing machine sorted no problem thankfully (can't knock them for that). today our shower packed in, i rang goodchilds wolverhampton this morning and a lady (i cant recall her name) answered and took mt details, i thought i'd give her a chance to arrange something and called back a few hours later, i then got through to the receptionist who said she will ask someone to get back to me (which they never) so I called back an hour and a half later, amy then answered and said she had no record of my previous calls, to be fair to her she was the only one doing something for me, although, this whole experience is extremely disappointing and extremely annoying as in my opinion i gave enough notice on this issue for it to be sorted the same day. I will never deal with goodchilds again and cannot wait to move out of this property!

Never got my rent back

I rented a flat in the New Oscott area outside Birmingham, from the Erdington branch. My six months were over so I was on a monthly basis. Eventually I got a job in London so I made arrangements to move out. I was assured that even if I pay the rent and not stay the full month, I would get a refund for the rest of the days.
Turns out that was only words. I paid the rent on the 17th of February and moved out on the 24th of the same month. It is April now and they inform me, after I have chased them, that once the rent is paid it goes directly to the landlord in full, and no money is returned. Also, they told me they delayed the new tenant until my month was over even though I was there when he said that it suited him perfectly to move in on my leaving date.
I feel very frustrated at having being lied to and cheated. I do not know if they have a good name in the market. Their work practises in this portion are the worst. Avoid at all costs!!!
