Be wary of what you are buying
Whilst I understand the benefits of protections, be very careful when purchasing insurance over the phone.
I agreed to what I believed was a GAP insurance policy after a sales call. Only when the documentation arrived did I discover I had actually been sold FIVE separate insurance policies (GAP, Key Protect, Policy Excess, Emergency Assist and My Vault), all with separate terms and costs.
The individual products may have benefits for some people, and whilst the insurances were explained I do not feel it was made sufficiently clear during the call that these were separate policies rather than one GAP policy with additional features. This significantly increased the overall cost and resulted in a finance agreement for over £500 when the actual cost of the GAP policy was around £70 and this was the one I actually wanted and saw most value in.
My advice to anyone considering these products is to ask the adviser to clearly confirm exactly how many separate policies you are buying, what each one costs individually, whether you already have similar cover elsewhere, and whether you REALLY need every product being recommended. For example most home insurance policies cover keys etc and the Policy Excess cover can take up to 6 months to be reimbursed when you read the small print of the policy.
I've raised a formal complaint and cancelled all of the policies along with the finance agreement, I have already looked into GAP insurance elsewhere.
