Wish I'd never come across this site on google!!
After completing an online form for this online tuition service, my 8 year old son and I had a video call with a tutor/sales advisor who talked me through how this service works and how it could help my son who was struggling with maths. The man on the video link said that I could cancel after 3 months, I DID NOT ELECTRONICALLY SIGN ANYTHING WHATSOEVER, I only gave my personal details and direct debit details for the payments to the tutor via video link.
Due to a change in our personal circumstances, the cost of living increase, and the fact that my son has not benefitted from the service, I have tried to cancel 3 times now. Each time I receive the same response...'you agreed to a 15 month subscription' NO I DID NOT. Nor did I agree to money being taken out by a separate loan company.
It is absolutely disgusting that this company do not care whatsoever about people's financial situations, and more importantly whether the children actually benefit or enjoy their service. They are scamming children that are struggling with their learning.
And they will probably write the same response along the lines as 'it is incredibly frustrating blablabla' because they have no shame, it is all about money to them, never mind parents getting into debt.
I have complained to the financial ombudsman with the documents that I supposedly signed and wish that I had never come across this company.

The Financial Service Ombudsman should…
The Financial Service Ombudsman should look into the activities of this company. It is criminal that a family cannot cancel a contract for a minor when the young person is not not finding the course useful. This company has been collecting payments now for over year without my 3 children using their platform. Parents please do not subscribe to them they are crooked, criminal and a bunch of rogues living a pseudo life in the UK. I may have to write to the England Children’s commissioner as it an abuse to rip parents off when the children are no longer using the platform. Financial Abuse against a minor is a worrying development anywhere in the world. The organisation has no complaints policy and has no dedicated staff to deal with complaints. Is a ripoff!

Absolute nightmare do not think of…
Absolute nightmare do not think of using their services or you will regret it. I wish I had gone to their reviews before signing up for long term (can’t get out of) contract. And even when the period finally came to an end and I sent them my notice finally I could get out of throwing my money in the bin they did not respond until I cancelled my direct debit and only then did the finance company call me not even them. And when I asked them for a refund of my last month of payment the sent me a message saying they will not be refunding my money back. Thieves I feel cheated and that will be your experience if you do sign up.
See extract of their email below
Hi Tina
I trust that you are well. I have tried to call you today to rectify the situation regarding your communication previously sent of cancelling your Exemplar Education Subscription.
It does show on our system that you have first notified of this communication on 09/02/2022 . I have backdated and your last 2 direct debits should have been Feb and March and then your direct debit should have stopped. I have notified 3J finance and will have this sorted for you as soon as possible. Your family would have access to the program until 27/06/2022.
Kind regards
Rosalind Swain

What an horrible experience I’m…
What an horrible experience I’m currently having with this company. About 4 years ago, my children’s school gave us the leaflet. We contacted this company and a member of their team came to our house but it was way too expensive about £3000 to £4000, so we decided not to proceed when we go to know that it’s like a life term contract. In 2020 during the lockdown, I found a pop up online advert stating we could cancel anytime. I wanted a monthly rolling contract so I decided to click and left my details. I was contacted where I asked if the advert I saw was true about anytime cancellation and the guy advised that rolling contract one 12 months is better etc and I was convinced by the guy to opt for the 12months contract as I was working at the time. My little year 1 and 2 children struggled with it, they were unable to concentrate on the pre-recorded online classes. I then contacted them to find out if I could cancel but I was told I could not. So I ended up paying since 2020 January or so. I suddenly remember it’s now about 2 years and phoned them to cancel. I was told by the call handler that it’s okay to cancel because it’s over 12 months, only to get a phone call later that I need to make a further payment of £778. I went online to check how many times my children used it, they managed to use it in less than 20times since 2020 and my year 1 child did not make any achievements at all, she did not finish one lesson no matter how much I try to motivate her, yet I keep paying monthly for online tutoring they do not enjoy using.
Please don’t subscribe to this if you don’t have good savings to fall back on. Don’t get in debt for nothing sake.
I’m in the process of getting a solicitor to fight this so that other parents who are struggling to work and pay their bills don’t get into this trap by Examplar. Looks like it’s a real scam targeting for who love children. I discussed this with my children school teacher but the school could not even remember Examplar, I don’t know if they lied too so they won’t be robed in. Reading some of the reviews here is even worrying. The response from Exemplar that you guys wanted children to succeed, unfortunately is crippling many families’ financial situations. I lost my job few months after subscribing to this, yet no compassion only annoying phone calls to make the matter worse, and I had to make further payments. You people are doing more harm than good. Your organisation should listen to the cry of the struggling parents. This is devilish!

Poor response but nothing less than expected
Isn't it great when you get a response to a review that starts 'It is incredibly frustrating that almost every 1-star review states "we didn't know what we were signing", or " we were told something different" or "had I known it was for a long term, I wouldn't have signed up". Stopping using something you’ve purchased is not accepted by anyone as a reason to stop paying for it.' does that not tell you that your product/sales process is not as great as you think it is? and your frustration at customer reviews lets us all know that - I'm guessing you had a bad day
I cannot resign from the course
I cannot resign from the course, even though my son cannot take the lessons, he needs special education and I have to pay a year for nothing.

I took out this product for my daughter…
I took out this product for my daughter on 10th April 2020, who was in Year 9 at the time, starting her GCSE studies, after a rep contacted me advising that they were working with my daughters school. She came into my home purporting to have a maths degree blah de blah and on selling it to me as the best thing since sliced bread, sold me £4k worth of product on the promise that it would support my daughter right through University but within a matter of a few weeks my daughter said the website was boring and babyish and well below the grade of stuff she was learning in school for her age group and she completely lost interest in it. It seems from the reviews she was not alone. I tried to get the modules upgraded to something more commensurate with her level but nothing sufficed and I gave up. I emailed them in July / August 2021 to enquire for how much longer I had to pay for this useless piece of software I had been flogged to the tune of nearly £4k, as I was tied into a 4 year finance contract with 3J Finance and not had one statement and have no paperwork from Exemplar with account information, and I got a response on 11th August from Ellen Harris in the Customer Support Team to state that my enquiry had been passed to a "Family Liaison Team" who will "be in touch shortly, but it may take us a little time to get back to you, as things are taking a little longer than we'd like due to the current restrictions, but don't worry". It is now May 2022 and I have not heard a thing from anyone. This product is a complete con and a total waste of a lot of money I could have spent more wisely on my daughters education if they had not have wormed their way into my home and basically robbed me. The customer service is abysmal and from reading the reviews, it seems I am not alone either. I see some of you are taking this further / to the Financial Ombudsman, I might see if there is any traction through Exemplars complaints process, which I doubt from my experience so far, and try the same. My advice, don't touch them with a barge pole, its daylight robbery.

I would give 0 stars if it was possible. Do not purchase... you will regret it
I would give 0 stars if it was possible. They are crooks. The customer service is terrible. They mis-sold me the platform which I paid upfront for 12 months. I was told I could cancel the direct debit after 12 months and now they have a finance company hounding me for 3 more payments. The customer service man spoke to me as if I was an idiot. They ignored my emails and calls for weeks and then have the audacity to speak to me as if I'm stupid. I would not recommend this learning platform. It is very babyish and repetitive. A waste of money. The worst purchase I ever made. My son has not used it since September and I still have to pay for another 3 months for a platform he will not use and hates.

Stay away from Exemplar !!! I signed a contract in 2019 May for my son...he is in uny without any tuition now. The company try to sell this program for long years. After 2 month my son said he cant feel as this program is helping him to have better result. We send back the basic laptop and since I try to terminate this contract but can't.
Exemplar is working with 3J Finances Ltd. Depending wich day you call them you will get another quote if you want to terminate your finances.
Whatever is your financial circumstances you won't escape from them!!!

Won’t let me cancel after 1 month. STAY WELL CLEAR.
My wife signed up to exemplar in feb 2022 costing £52 per month she was told over the phone you can cancel the subscription at any time. A month in my kids can get the hang of exemplar, and don’t have the time with other commitments. Now with rising cost and a lot of families choosing either to heat or eat, I made the decision to cancel the subscription.
My wife sent a email asking for a cancellation, somebody rang the following day, they would not cancel the subscription without talking to the card holder (myself) as I was at work, my wife decided to call later when I was at home.
So today I rang exemplar asking to cancel the subscription, they told me I am tied into a 12 month subscription and cannons cancel so I offered them £1 per month for the remainder of the 12 months as we have used exemplar twice over 2 months. But I got told no this is not possible. Me or my wife never received any type of paperwork confirming a 12 month contract. But as the direct debit guarantee states you can cancel your Dd at anytime.
Financially 3 kids and £52 pcm is a lot of money. Since I have been threaded that a legal team will be instructed to collect the funds. Absolutely outrageous that companies can get away with things like this. Take my advice don’t bother signing up stay well clear.
Your better off giving you money to charity where it can do some good.

I was sold this Scam of a programme in 2019 and have been paying £50.01 since then. They have not listened to me since I complained that my daughter was struggling with it and hated it. I encouraged her to call their teachers who were equally as unhelpful and as boring as the videos they have. I have begged to stop payments but hey would always tell you that they will call back with help which never happened. there are other educational packages out there that cost less than £100.00 annually that will give better service. I have moved on and I am taking this to the financial ombudsman. I'm not interested in any explanation from Exemplar and 3J anymore they don't care about the customer and have refused to update their services lat I checked in 2021.

Don't go anywhere near them!
Don't go anywhere near them. Stay Away!!
Exemplar and 3J Finance are cowboys and cowgirls. They are scums and worse than burglars. They are only interested in taking advantage of parents who are trying to do the best for their children during the covid19 lock-down. It is clearly a boiler-room, money grabbing scheme and nothing to do with education.
The Children did complain that the service was poor and not very challenging or interesting.
Exemplar did not provide the service as promised. No Tutors got in touch with the children to help with their study or interact with them as promised. Absolutely useless.
After a year and a payment of £52.26 per month, I contacted Exemplar and ask them to cancel. They send me an email that the contract will be cancel after the last couple of payment which was suppose to end in February 2022.
I canceled the direct debit as I have paid for the services that was used even though we were not satisfied.
I just found out that these thieves have used the account details to set up a new payment from my account without my authorisation. Unbelievable! I have now asked the bank to challenge this payment and will be asking for a refund.
Don't go anywhere near them!
The below reply from exemplar is a blatant lie. Exemplar talk about contracts, but they don't even follow there own dodgy contract.
They are bombarding my inbox with email messages asking my children to log on to their platform and sending threatening letters after we have already agreed on a cancellation as stipulated in the contract. Your intimidation attempt is obnoxious and wrong.
The contract says:
MINIMUM SUBSCRIPTION PERIOD
Minimum Subscription Period
This Agreement has no fixed term but there is a minimum 15 month subscription (the “Minimum Subscription Period”). You may cancel the subscription
on a minimum of three months’ notice, such notice to expire at the end of the Minimum Subscription Period or at any time thereafter.
Our initial payments, according to Janice Jones, also counts towards the notice period. So, why did you set up a fraudulent direct debit to steal more money from our account? please take this as a notice to return the unauthorized withdraws from our account.
