Rip Off Merchant

I was paying for this service since 2021 and in October 2025 by children came to me to say that they have no use of this service anymore and I decided to cancel in December 2025.
I called Exemplar and left a message to call me back as I need to cancel my subscription and had no response. I then went and cancelled on their contact us page for which I did receive a notification email but yet again no response from them, so I cancelled my direct debit and thought that was that since they did not respond back to me or say anything.
Now 5 months later I have Opos Limited chasing for my payments since December and find this extremely unprofessional and unethical from a company that is FCA authorised consumer credit firm (FRN 724443).
Even after emailing and chasing Exemplar they are still not responding, so anyone thinking of using this service – DON’T – use another reputable service elsewhere.

I was overpaying for 3 years and didn't realise until I decided to cancel my subscription with exemplar education (which you cant). My children dont even use it anymore and find it boring and not beneficial. I finally filed a 'Direct debit claim' with my bank and got my full refund within a week no thanks to 3jfinance or exemplar education. 3jfinance were so quick to chase me up demanding their money back (plus more) and when I asked them to put everything in writing they say 'They cant because they are a phone only business'. This is a lie because 3J Finance is an FCA-authorised consumer-credit firm (FRN 724443) so it must follow the FCA’s complaint rules before they can request money. Instead of apologising, they kept quoting 'thousands of people are happy with our service'. I found that irrelevant and unprofessional that they totally ignored my issue and changed the subject. Its like they are trained to say the same things to confuse you (a form of gaslighting). They are clearly not customer focused. What has thousands of happy customers got to do with me overpaying them? How does that even solve my issue? Lets be real, those 'happy customers' are most likely 'once upon a time happy before they got scammed' customers. Now watch how they will reply to this comment or any others trying to save their face for those unaware of their scam so they can trap you too. Successful businesses have a proper payment system in place and never rely on customers to sort their mistakes for them. Bottom line is, dont trust exemplar education or 3jfinance to sort out your payments because they wont. I may have got my refund (from filing a claim with my bank) but I'll never trust these 2 scammers again!

It is absolutely unacceptable for a…

It is absolutely unacceptable for a company to pretend they are supporting children with their education while in reality taking advantage of struggling families. Parents and students trust these services to provide genuine help with difficult topics, yet instead of receiving proper guidance, their personal information is being handed over to third-party lenders and scammers. This is not only unethical but deeply harmful, especially to vulnerable families who may already be under pressure.

A business that exploits people in this way is not just failing in its duty—it is actively causing damage. Such actions raise serious legal and moral concerns. It is important that those affected do not stay silent. Reporting this company to HMRC and other relevant authorities could help bring their misconduct to light. If the company is mishandling finances, evading tax, or engaging in fraudulent activities, HMRC has the power to investigate and take legal action.

Beyond HMRC, complaints should also be filed with consumer protection agencies, financial regulators, and possibly law enforcement, since data sharing with fraudulent lenders could amount to a criminal offense. Taking collective action—gathering statements from victims, raising awareness online, and contacting watchdog organizations—can put pressure on authorities to act quickly.

A company that exploits children’s education and manipulates families for profit should not be allowed to continue operating. Their practices must be challenged, their misconduct exposed, and their business shut down if found guilty of wrongdoing. Protecting children and families must always come before profit, and those who violate that trust must face serious consequences.

Can't believe they still scam people!

I am surprised this company still exists. Please do not sign up for this scam. Their marketers are very dishonest. Never in the conversation I had ALONE with him did he explain that they will take out a LOAN in my name. How difficult is it to say that?
Everything about this company and the way the transact goes against every sense of social justice.
They are selling a lie.
Khan Academy offers excellent service 100 times better than this for free. YouTube videos etc.
Very old outdated videos.
I'm still angry.

DON'T PURCHASE!!!

DON'T PURCHASE!!!
It is a waste of time & most importantly money. You are tied in to a contract so can't cancel the payments. The content is rubbish & not at all engaging for the kids so they aren't even interested. There is no way a GCSE student will be using this. It was sold as something far better than what it is. I wish I had checked the reviews beforehand but stupidly I didn't as the salesman did a good job of conning us in to thinking it is something great. I purchased this a few years back but I can't believe this nonsense is still being sold. There are lots of websites out there that offer free material & you tube videos, use those instead and avoid exemplar

The worst online teaching service you…

The worst online teaching service you will find. You cannot communicate with them, they do not answer calls or emails. All their tutors are from India and struggle to understand or speak english. And they can't even do the maths or english themselves. Whatever you do, do not sign up to a monthly plan, as the will hound you for the money and you cannot cancel. They will refuse, no matter how inadequate their service is. I've reported them to trading standards now as well as it is a scam!! Go have a look on mumsnet what the parents are saying on there. You will be shocked. Don't use them!!!! You've been warned.

It is a bad experience for myself

I was deceived into signing a life contract by their sale agent on the 11/12/2019 just starting COVID-19.

I contacted them after 2 months to change my contract to a more affordable one since I couldn't pay £70+ monthly as my financial situation was getting changed and my children are not happy with the program as they are different from the school's and also the school have more online program and this is becoming increasingly difficult to handle.

Examplar referred me to discuss the issue with 3J finance that they will help out.
3J finance have no other obligations but to collect their money.

Since 2020 before lockdown till now Feb 2024, Examplar are using 3J finance to collect my money and my children are grown up, they have not used the program for years, some never even logged on for the first time.
Ages are 22, 21, 18
The 3 youngest are not in anyway using their programs.

They have only responded to my email twice in all these years with the same pattern *to contact their finance partner 3J finance*
Please if anyone knows how I can deal with these issue please send me a message.
They are telling me my generations unborn will use the program so there is nothing they can do.

DON'T BE A VICTIM THIS IS SCAM

A £6,732.00 was the worst purchase we have ever made in our. We Purchased this to support our children to develop unfortunately we make the biggest mistake of our life because we don't know that we where been trick all started on 5 October 2018 when a gentle man came to our house with sweet words convince us to purchase it. We decided to cancel all our children private study but it was a big mistake
we have been paying £112.00 every month all these years!!!!
However under our agreement someone will call every month to check the children progress but that only happen in the first 2 years that mean they have failed their side of the agreement.
Out dated, children assessed at wrong level. Tried to use a few times then gave up children did not engage with it as it was boring no benefit and there was no teacher to guide the children what so ever.
worst customer service ever they don't care all the are interested is your money.
PLEASE PLEASE!!! DON'T BE THE NEXT VICTIM DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS WE DID 5 YEARS AGO, pressure sale in our house lasted hours and hours the kids issued with a laptop that lasted less than 3 months I ended purchasing 2 iMac and 2 laptops!!!.

The True Story Behind Exemplar Education

This Website is a complete trap. Regardless of what your child is struggling with, I would HIGHLY recommend that they do not use this platform, considering the vast variety of other platforms which are: Trusted, Safe, Secure and Reliable, in addition to the state school system, where children can receive as much help as is required for your child to learn and understand any difficult topics. Although this is not a scam, this company plays very carefully with its choice of words concerning its terms of use policy and seems entirely harmless through the way it's played out. THIS IS NOT A SUBSCRIPTION, where the user may stop paying monthly fees when they feel they have finished using the interface, yet the entire upfront fee (about £5000 or more dependant on what plan you choose) must be payed as Exemplar Loan out this money for themselves and force you to pay it out in order for them to make a profit over a terribly outdated interface which even a sixth-form computer science student could create with the help of a form group, yet it seems even more scammy once you open the homepage. COMPLETELY scattered with stock images of happy families of terrible resolution, and sometimes very buggy. If a customer is interested in this scheme, they will send over a person to assess your child in order to recommend the "best" plan for your family. This is an opportunity for the company to entice the consumer into spending more and more money compared to what they actually should by convincing the family that this programme is entirely unique due to it's features. What are these features? Let's look over them: You get to contact a teacher who can give advice on any topic your child is stuck on but it has to be during an extremely obscure timeframe which most likely doesn't resonate with your child's timetable (unless the child revises 24/7) - Your child receives access to every topic in the GCSE course, yet to access a specific topic, you need to use a buggy interface and even more obscure topic names without any system to tell you which ones you've done, unless you create an assessment programme, in which your child has to answer over 150+ questions on an extremely (I repeat) BUGGY interface, with no way of editing previous answers and afterwards, the system determines which topics your child needs to learn dependant on the assessment. Let's say that your son/daughter decides not to use exemplar for a short break (maybe 3-4 months) and the child has changed year group and requires to learn new topics that they have not yet reached on exemplar. This happened to my son, and he tried to contact the live support, yet they claimed that they could not move him up a year group and that he would have to complete all of his required tasks (which he may have already mastered at school) and waste a whole lot of time trying to progress the system to a point where the child can find the work actually useful. I completely understand that this programme has helped a multitude of families across the UK, yet the reality is, is that it is a complete waste of money and schools already probably have programmes such as Seneca Learning, Hegarty/Sparxmaths and any other programmes necessary for the child to help its learning progress. If I were you, I would stay far away from this moronic application and save lots and lots of money otherwise. Unless you are completely sure that your financial circumstances won't change, It's probably not the best way forwards. And anyhow, 400,000 pupils for 32 years is terrible numbers compared to Hegarty Maths' critically acclaimed status in the span of 10 years.
