Add me to the list of dissatisfied …

Add me to the list of dissatisfied users. The platform was not what I expected and at $195/mo I figured I'd kick the tires for a month and see if it met my expectations. I wasn't impressed at all with the quality of the board and advisory positions. Mostly startups looking for somebody to bring them a long client list. I got suspicious in the on-boarding call when we started talking about what actions to take in the 1st quarter through the 4th quarter. I wasn't looking for a 12 month commitment and decided to drop the membership.

When I notified them to terminate my account I got billed for another month because they require a 15 day notice for cancellations. Never heard of such a thing for a month-to-month subscription service. Customer service explained to me that once they enter the cancellation request, their billing system takes 15 days to process it! It only took 15 minutes to bill my credit card when they set up the account.

Again I'm suspicious, they schedule your on boarding call 2+ weeks after starting up the membership. Basically they're trying to make sure you spend at least 2 months at $195/mo plus the $200 setup fee to kick the tires. $590 lesson learned. I wish I had read these reviews first.

They refused to refund the $195 for the next month service, instead offering to extend my service for an additional month at no cost or to credit my account for 1 month if I decide to come back. What part of 'your service doesn't meet my expectations and I don't wish to use it anymore' do they not understand.

Stay away.

The worst experience ever

The worst experience ever . I called to cancel the service and ended up with people hanging up the phone on me .They promised to have a 30 days refundable policy but when i called within the 30 days they refused to refund $395 . They also added a cancellation fee of $195.
They never did the training as they promised neither did they deliver on any of the services offered by sales rep.

I've got a Premier service and it's totally useless. I've had more success without Execrank than with Execrank.
Seems like a business for Execrank to milk money. No one I know has had anything real come out of it. All companies want you to do free work while we pay Execrank for not doing any work.

Good parts

Good parts: unique concept, its like the Match.com of advisory boards, I have found o few things

Where it needs improvement
1. UI is clunky and website is slow
2. There are a lot of crappy companies seeking advisors, vet them and get rid of the garbage
3. The $195 per month is hefty, reduce
4. Need more deals willing to pay cash, too many looking for all equity based advisers

Overall positive

Overall, my experience with ExecRanks was positive. I utilized the resource for about 16 months. There were many opportunities to apply for and the process of application was straightforward. The ExecRanks staff I worked with seemed knowledgeable and were helpful. My one disappointment is that despite well over one hundred applications submitted, I had two formal contacts from interested parties. One resulted in an advisor role as advertised. The second contact did not reach conclusion as the company was acquired before any board positions were filled.

Expected more

I've been a member of ExecRanks for 18 months and was very enthusiastic at first. It appeared as though there were many board opportunities from established companies and I submitted responses to over 70 openings. A year-and-a-half and $3600 later, I'm questioning the value of the service. I had one interview and was selected for an opening, but the company was pre-revenue and did not plan on really creating a board for another 18-24 months. There has been no further activity. In calling ExecRank, I received advice on how to best respond with offers to upsell my service. The experience was never rude and was always professional, but it leaves me wondering how many board placements they actually complete. In looking at their list of congratulations, it hasn't changed substantially in a year, giving the impression that only a dozen or so placements are made from a pool of hundreds of ExecRank candidates. In the end, it is results that matter and, for me, the ROI isn't there.

Assured Science Exchange, Inc.

Our organization, Assured Science, is an embryonic non-profit organization that is working to create a modern and limitless system for conducting scientific research on any subject. ExecRank has been an excellent resource for building a strong team of advisors. I was provided with a list of candidates with experiences and expertise matching our organization’s needs and have so far recruited five excellent advisors from that list. ExecRank provides an extremely valuable service that is particularly crucial to startups facing the daunting task of reaching and recruiting strong and active advisors.

If you work their site and do what you need to, there is tremendous value in ExecRank. I landed my first opportunity after only 3 months and since that time I have had other offers. I have a been a member since December 2016. The staff at ExecRank is accessible and responsive when you have questions or needs.

Feedback is expected

Overall - I had a great experience so far and love experts sessions. It would be helpful however to have a feedback from the companies that decide not to choose my candidacy for there Board of Directors. That will help to navigate better in the Board of Directors appointments selection.
