Buy Me A Coffee has been a real help to me as a musician. It helps me fund recording projects and gives my followers a way to contribute to my ongoing creative efforts. Whenever I've faced road blocks customer service has come through quickly.

So far so good, I opened my account and had my first supporter that day. I had some issues with Stripe. The banking site that moves the money. I had to contact support and got a response and problem fixed within 24 hours. Easy to use and great support team. Customer Service A+

Really good platform for creatives to use

Buy me a coffee has charged me with an unauthorized amount of 160 dollars on the 13th of August. I have donated to a creator on the 9th of August an amount of 11 pounds and was subsequently charged an unauthorized amount of 160 dollars to the account buymeacoffee.com 5 days later.

I have contacted customer service and am currently asking for the full refund of the 160 dollars that has been charged unauthorized on my credit card. They have been pretty unresponsive and slow at answering my request.

From what I have seen , this issue has been present on the site since January unattended if you look at other one star reviews, so I do not recommend you donate on this site as it is unsafe.

I make many purchases online and this is the first time this has ever happened.

Do not use as this site is unsafe for your financial data as well as those of your supporters

Buy Me a Coffee's customer service was very quick to respond and was very helpful. I was requesting that my subscription be canceled. It was a good experience.

The support answered my request (some account payout problem) extremely quickly and sorted it out with virtually zero friction.

Update:
After I posted this review, Buy Me a Coffee contacted me by email and said they wanted to investigate my old account.

I gave them the account link they asked for, then I was ignored again. After waiting around a week, I had to send another follow-up just to get a response.

Their final explanation was that they detected “multiple failed card transactions and high risk payments” and therefore would not allow me to continue using the platform.

The problem is that I did not make any suspicious transactions or try to withdraw money improperly. If someone attempted to make fraudulent or high-risk payments to my page, that is not the same as me committing fraud, and I was never given any evidence or details showing that I personally did anything wrong.

They still did not explain which transactions were supposedly high risk, what exactly I violated, or what happened to the money that was in the account.

What makes this worse is that they contacted me after my review and publicly said they would properly investigate the case, yet I still had to chase them for a response.

So after all this time, I’m still left with vague accusations, no transparency, and no proper explanation.

If you're a creator that wants to be financially rewarded for your efforts, or if you're someone that wants to show your appreciation of someone's work, then I'd recommend NOT using Buy Me A Coffee.

I signed up to Buy Me A Coffee and my supporters began making contributions towards my work. However, while it was very easy for them to contribute, it wasn't so easy for me to claim the funds.

Along with the hundreds of other people who say they were strung along by this company's dubious tactics, I was given one excuse after another when I requested a pay out of my funds and I was expected to jump through hoops to get it.

About a week after I requested a payout, I started receiving emails from Buy Me A Coffee to the following effect:

'We’re currently reviewing your account, and we need a bit more information to complete the process. To ensure a smooth and quick approval, please provide the following details:

- Send us screenshots showing where and how you share your Buy Me a Coffee link.
- What is the primary reason for your audience to pay you?'

I gave the information and screenshots they requested, but they seemed to ignore this, and they kept asking again and again. I soon realised that they were deliberately delaying the pay out process.

Firstly, why wait a week from my payout request, before asking for this information? To earn more interest on my funds? Why couldn't they request this information at the start, when I first signed up? Why wait until funds had accumulated and I asked to be paid?

In addition to this, Buy Me A Coffee is not exactly transparent with the fees they charge. In fact, they're downright misleading. While they prominently advertise a 5% commission fee, claiming that "creators keep 95% of the earnings", it turns out that this is far from the truth. The actual take is nearly double this, when all the layers are accounted for. In my case, I ended up with only 88% of the earnings.

After quite a bit of effort, and a fair amount of stress, I eventually succeeded in getting my funds out of the hands of Buy Me A Coffee.

Buy Me A Coffee seems to exploit individuals who are trying to make a few pounds and who have a lack of time or determination to fight for the money they've earned.

I've learned my lesson, and I will never use this outfit again.
