I found exactly the book I wanted, brand new and cheaper than anywhere else I looked. It was a specific Korean cookbook for my grandson. He was thrilled with it. The ordering was easy and it arrived really quickly. I will definitely use this website again.

My recent shopping experience with Booksplease was less than satisfactory. It was terrible. It will be my last time giving them my custom.

On June 15th 2026 I placed an order (#928985) for three books. I received email confirmation of said order. I then received dispatch & delivery information:
Estimated Dispatch: Wednesday 24th June 2026
Estimated Delivery: Friday 26th June 2026 to Monday 29th June 2026. This seemed excessively long to me due to the fact that the dispatch information shown beside the books on the official website said "Usually dispatched within 4 working days" so why was the dispatch and delivery dates so extended from the order date? Still, I let it slide.

On Monday 29th June 2026 I received an email from Booksplease to say that my order was being dispatched. This struck me as strange since I was expecting the DELIVERY of my order on that date (the 29th June was the far end of the estimate of delivery they personally gave me). So why was my order only now being dispatched? Why wasn't it arriving instead?

I contacted Booksplease to query why the dispatch date was different to what they expressly emailed it would be. They replied with a weak apology that the delivery courier arrived too late to collect the order on Friday (the 26th June) and so had to be processed on Monday (the 29th). I found this appalling, for two reasons:
1. They never informed me that my order would be arriving late and instead just sprung a dispatch email on me on the day it should have been arriving. I don't care if you don't work weekends -- you had my money and failed to communicate that my order was late.
2. Even if my order had been dispatched on the Friday (26th June) this was still late since they stated the 24th June as the dispatch date. They failed to honour this. No reason was given as to why.
I sent another email to express my dissatisfaction with them not alerting me to the dispatch/delivery delay and making me waste my time waiting for a delivery that had no intention of arriving. They never bothered to reply to this one -- I mean, why engage with a customer who you have failed?

I wanted to give custom to a smaller, independent book website. I now regret that decision. I have found Booksplease to be an untterly terrible company who created an awful customer experience for me. If you are reading this review, gauging whether you should give them your custom or not, then I'd personally suggest you do not. Save yourself the stress and go to a reputable company who will treat their paying customers with the respect they deserve. It took two weeks for them to dispatch my order -- it eventually arrived on July 1st. They simply seem to disregard you. Further, they seem to shift the goalposts by way of using the word "estimated" in lieue of their time estimates so that they have plausible deniability over poor service. But no sane person thinks it's normal to have to wait over 2 weeks for supposedly available books to be dispatched. And no sane person thinks it's acceptable for a company to not inform the paying customer for why their order is late.

Reading the numerous 1 star reviews that many disappointed customers have given Booksplease just shows the scale of their awfulness. You will also notice how they seem to copy/paste replies to customers, patronising them with the odd "We apologise" phrase thrown in as if that makes their poor service okay dokay. It doesn't.

I have now submitted a request to have my account deleted with them.

The book i ordered was in excellent condition for a second hand one . Delivery was prompt. Great service !

My order was filled correctly and delivered timely. Book is in perfect condition-TYSM!

Arrived in excellent condition, with bookmarks! And shipping didn’t take too long, arrived just on time. Amazing, from Australia!

The only drawback is the high shipping cost when purchasing a small number of books

Have bought from Booksplease many times over the last few months for several different collections. Delivery has always been quick and books arrived without damage. The price is more than reasonable and much cheaper than everywhere else. The customer service team are quick and polite and ensure that deliveries come through perfectly. All around a great place, highly recommend.

The books arrived safely and on time. They were well packaged which was important as they were for a gift. Would definitely recommend
