DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Save up and get a Ring doorbell - it will save you so much grief (and money) in the long run.

We’ve only ever had problems with our doorbell. Drains the life out of batteries (so you waste so much money buying replacements) and it does not last as long as it’s supposed to. Constantly disconnects from the Wi-Fi. Will switch off for no reason.

We’ve had a specific issue for around 6 weeks now (my neighbour has the exact same issue with his Blink) where the doorbell doesn’t send a notification when it is rung to the app. It only sends ‘motion detected’ notifications. This means we cannot tell when someone has rang the doorbell or is just walking past.

We have been in contact with someone from support back and forth for over a month now, and they keep fobbing us off with the same troubleshooting fixes (which we have tried and they DON’T work) - i.e., delete the app and redownload, change the batteries, disconnected from the wifi and reconnect. Ridiculous one was when they told me to turn my phone off and back on, which would apparently make it work (it didn’t).

It’s blatantly a software issue, which they don’t seem to want to admit. The app needs a new update and they need to sort this pronto. I have asked them several times how they are going to fix it, and we’ve had dreadful customer service.

We’ve had such a bad experience, we’re going to switch to a Ring doorbell. Trust me - it’s not worth the stress getting a Blink doorbell just to save a few pennies.

I bought blink doorbell and 3 indoor…

I bought blink doorbell and 3 indoor outdoor cameras but I used them indoor. They never have service to see live ever!! When I called customer service all they could say is try replacing the batteries. DID THAT TOO! Still no live view on any camera. Don’t waste your money wish I would have read the reviews first!!

My blink system has never worked…

My blink system has never worked properly. My doorbell is only 12 feet from the unit that controls all of my cameras I can never pick up the thing and it connect when you get a ring at your doorbell and may be able to speak to the person on the other side. While many times it will not connect at all to the doorbell unit.
I have had my unit basically two years this Christmas and every day my indoor camera goes off-line 3 to 4 times no matter how many times I reset it
It has a good signal to the unit, but it will not remain working. I have called the company several times and they eventually just tell me they don’t know what to do.
I would not recommend these to anyone they sound expensive for what you get out of them, but they’re actually just cheap and do not operate
And even though it doesn’t work, I can’t get help or assistance from the company with their product that was bought from them in good faith

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

While the cameras worked, everything was fine, aside from the battery life. They advertise up to 2 years, but mine lasted less than 6 months. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the biggest issue.
One of my cameras stopped working, and the customer service experience with Blink has been extremely frustrating. I was asked to try countless troubleshooting steps, provide photos, videos, and proof, and after dozens of back-and-forth emails, nothing was done to repair or replace the device.
Blink consistently blamed the Wi-Fi, sync module, USB cord, or app—despite the fact that my other two cameras work perfectly fine. It seems they are unwilling to acknowledge a defective device. Replacing or repairing a camera under warranty should not be this difficult.

I am trying to get assistance from customer support nobody seems to care

I am trying to get assistance from Blink to set up my account, but I am stuck at the step where I should receive a text message with a verification code, which never arrives. Unfortunately, the support representative has not been helpful, as they are requesting information that assumes the account has already been created, which I cannot complete without the code.

The product itself seems great, but the customer support experience has been very frustrating. I am trying for a week.

The camera themselfs are good but what…

The camera themselfs are good but what i dont like is after paying out money for 5 cameras I have to then pay $15 a month for a subscription because otherwise if there is a cat or other animal the app notifcation will go off all the time and you cant change the motion to only people or vehicles unless you pay $15 a month if i had known i had to pay for a subscription never would have brought it

Blink video doorbell changes have been impressed with my new blink…

I have been impressed with my new blink doorbell that was recommended to me by a friend. But not now they've been playing around with the programming. I lost my doorbell ring on my phone, had important visitors at door who thought I was out because it wasn't in sync with my phone and i didnt hear the doorbell. I also have to do more to delete footage. My sister says it's because they want you to buy a more expensive one! Well I certainly won't be doing that, or recommending it to my friends.

Worst customer service, defective from the get-go

Flood light wireless worked less than a week. Within 2 weeks multiple sets of batteries dead. After replacing batteries flood light still not working. Contacted amazon & blink within return period. Blink has the worst customer service. They clearly don’t keep previous call notes. 3 weeks of back n forth and product still defective with no action plan from Blink. Ive followed their instructions & remained patient but no progress had been made. Now Amazon’s “return window” has passed (30 days) & Blink is failing to even respond.

3 Garbage Cameras

Bought 3 cameras. Set up was basic. Seemed to work fine in the very beginning then one by one the cameras started going offline. I've checked the wifi abd no issues. I've changed the already new batteries and reset the cameras numerous times. Still they keep going offline. NOT worth it at all. Basically they're up for looks. 🤷‍♀️

Some of the worst customer service I've…

Some of the worst customer service I've ever received in my entire life. Absolutely clueless. I'm in Canada, I simply wanted to start a blink subscription and talk to a customer service agent to walk me through it, and I got zero help from anyone. I must've talked to five people. Absolutely useless.

After the sale & installation intolerable customer service

Untrained agents, at least one of which advised me to contact an electrician (which told me wiring was ideal)
Several contacts with agents via email were less than satisfactory — most were not able to speak consistently and unambiguously relative to technical concepts of light sensitivity and resultant illumination v. darkening
Supervisors failed to come to the line, including a ruse — I was kept on hold for over 15 minutes and then told to hang up in a supervisor would immediately call me back, which never happened
Problem-solving is nonexistent; it seems that Customer Service training and monitoring is nonexistent

Rollout version 8.0 for blink cameras does not have backwards compatibility

I troubleshooted my cameras with your technician and found out they are no longer working due to the version that was rolled out of 8.0 and above, and my devices are 7.1 below. Your update did not consider having backwards compatibility which has affected millions of your customers, here is a breakdown as follows.
Official sales count for specific, older hardware versions (like the Fire TV Cube 2nd Gen) with a particular operating system version (Fire OS 7.7 and below) is not publicly disclosed by Amazon. Companies like Amazon generally report broader metrics, such as "active accounts" or "devices sold worldwide," rather than a breakdown by OS version and specific older model. However, based on general market data, product release timelines, and Amazon's public statements, I can provide a high-level estimate and context for the number of devices affected.🌎 Estimated Affected Devices (Fire OS 7.7 and Below)The key takeaway is that the number of affected devices is in the tens of millions, if not higher, globally. In early 2025, Amazon announced that the Fire TV platform had over 200 million devices sold worldwide. Since your target OS version, Fire OS 7 (with minor versions like 7.7), covers devices released roughly between 2019 and 2023, the total number of devices running OS 7 or older is substantial. For a rough approximation of the number of users affected by the cut-off, we can use the reported total Fire TV market share and make reasonable estimations for the distribution of OS versions.🇺🇸 United States (Estimated Active Devices Affected)Based on the market analysis, North America holds a significant share of the global smart TV stick market (around 42% of revenue in 2023).Total Amazon Fire TV Active Users (All Devices/OS): While Amazon announced over 40 million active users worldwide in January 2021, the number of total devices sold is now over 200 million.Approximate US Fire TV Users: The US is a primary market. It's safe to assume tens of millions of active devices in the US are running Fire OS 7 or older. The Affected Devices (Your List): The models you listed (Fire TV Stick Max 2nd Gen, Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube 2nd Gen, Fire TV Stick 4, Echo Show 2nd Gen) are all high-volume, popular sellers from the era pre-Fire OS 8.Device Category (US Estimate)Approximate Affected Devices (Fire OS 7.7 and Below)All Fire TV & Fire TV Edition TVs~25 - 40+ Million (Significant portion of total US active Fire TV devices)Your Specific Devices (Subset)~10 - 20 Million (A large subset of the total, due to their popularity)🌍 Other Countries (Estimated Active Devices Affected)Amazon Fire TV has a strong international presence, being the No. 1 streaming media player platform in markets like the United Kingdom, Germany, India, and Japan. Europe and the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are the next largest markets after North America. Region/Market Estimated Affected Devices (Fire OS 7.7 and Below)Europe (UK, Germany, etc.)~15 - 25+ Million Asia-Pacific (India, Japan, etc.)~10 - 20+ Million Other Regions (Canada, Lat Am, etc.)~5 - 10+ Million Total Affected Worldwide~50 - 90+ Million💡 Summary of Impact The transition of your camera system to only support Fire OS 8.0 and above likely affects a very large user base worldwide. Area Conclusion Affected Devices Tens of millions of devices globally, easily surpassing 50 million. Your Dilemma Your situation is shared by a massive, global user group who are dependent on these devices for smart home integration. The number of people is large enough that the camera system vendor is consciously abandoning a significant portion of the Amazon ecosystem. The Rollout The update to Fire OS 8.0 essentially sets a new minimum API level for app development, which is why your camera system's new app version is incompatible. This is a common practice in tech ecosystems but often strands older, still-functional hardware. Given the scale of the affected devices and the popularity of the older hardware, your decision is a strategic one: Buy new, compatible devices (Fire TV Stick 4K Max 2nd Gen or newer Fire TV Cube/Stick): This is the path of least resistance for device compatibility and ensures you are on the current OS for future updates. Buy new cameras that support your older Fire OS 7.7 devices: This option is less future-proof, as other apps and systems may soon follow the move to Fire OS 8.0 as the minimum supported version. Would you like me to search for the current prices and features of the newest generation Fire TV devices to help you evaluate the cost of upgrading your hardware?
