Currenty looking at 30 hours delays if I am lucky and looking at the logs the delays I encountered are nothing unusual. The very worst. An embarassment for Star Alliance and the country. Good grief.

Our Trip from Hell

The only reason I am giving a one star is becauae their flights attendants are nice. On a round trip to Albania they left behind one suitcase behind on our outbound flight and left two in Montreal and one in Frankfurt on the return flight. They changed our stop-overs completely on the outbound flight as well as our return. My disability walker has not made it back to me yet. The airline does not give a damn about passengers with disabilities, dos not always provide the wheelchair assistance at connecting airports. Don't bother paying for selected seats, they will change them anyway. We returned home on Jan 10 after a trip time of 31 hours one way. We are both seniors. The miserable travel took its toll on us. My husband (80 years old) and I (77 years old) are both sick.

“The Hulk” is the baggage handler

My son attends university in Halifax NS
His suitcase was destroyed on the flight from NS to Newark before Christmas. We made a claim with AC and had to ship the suitcase to Texas for possible repair. They have yet to respond about the status of the luggage. This forced us to purchase a replacement “bag” in order for him to return to Halifax today.
His original direct return flight from Newark was cancelled due to mechanical issues. We had to rebook from LaGuardia via a layover in Montreal. Upon arrival in Halifax much to my son ‘s dismay his newly purchased suitcase was crushed way beyond the point of repair.
What the heck is going on with this airline?
Earlier this fall my best friend flew direct from Vancouver to Australia, and his and his wife’s luggage never got onto the plane, and was subsequently delivered 5 days late.
That’s a string of 3 serious issues for 3 flights. No wonder I see a 1.4 rating for AC
I am at least giving a star to the humans who handle the reservation calls and to the flight attendants who ARE competent and respectful in my experience.

Brutal service all around!

Brutal service all around!
Flight crew on long haul to Seoul unfriendly, not helpful, unavailable for most of the flight. Any request seemed to be a bother to them and were not particularly interested in keeping passengers happy.
I had two red wines wiht my meal and went to sleep for 3 hours. I awoke and asked for a red wine and was asked out loud by an attendant "how many have you had?" Seriously?? In front of other passengers? I was mortified by her question and shrunk back into my seat!
Air Canada cabin crew have been nothng but the worst for me in my many years of travel and the only way I fly with them is if I have absolutely zero other options. Awful!!!!!

Our flight was delayed for 4 hours

My family and I had made a flight reservation from Portland, Oregon (PDX) to Calgary, Canada (YYC), with a layover at Vancouver International Airport (YVR). Unfortunately, our flight experienced a series of four delays, starting with the initial delay when departing from Portland and followed by three subsequent delays during our layover in Vancouver. As a result, we regrettably missed a significant family gathering, which happened to be a wedding.

In an effort to address the situation, I contacted the customer service of Air Canada, the airline we were traveling with. However, after engaging in a conversation with a representative, I was placed on hold for an extended period of 27 minutes, only to then be abruptly disconnected. Such behavior is highly unprofessional and falls short of the expected level of customer service.

Moreover, considering the substantial amount of money we invested, totaling over $1000, and the fact that the circumstances leading to our current predicament were beyond our control, it is deeply disheartening to find ourselves stranded at the airport without any assistance from Air Canada. Experiencing disconnection during our phone call further added to our frustration and sense of being neglected.

Given the extreme frustration caused by this experience, I am compelled to reassess my future use of Air Canada's services. It is unacceptable for an airline to accept payment and then leave customers stranded in a foreign country without any form of support. I firmly believe that being disconnected during a phone call is an unwarranted and undeserved treatment. Consequently, I intend to lodge formal complaints with relevant legal and regulatory agencies, as well as file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, in order to address this matter appropriately.

I wish I could leave a ZERO star…

I wish I could leave a ZERO star review. They lost my luggage damaged and STOLE from the one they returned to me. Very unprofessional. When I contacted customer service, they ignored me, hung up on me and closed my case. They owe me 2 grand in reimbursements and should reimburse for my baggage fees but instead they keep running their scam. I filed with BBB, even though they aren't part of it and I intend to share with anyone and everyone I know to AVOID AIRCANADA LIKE THE PLAGUE. They are scammers and thieves. I had a work trip where I purchased new, designer items and they stole those out of my bag when it was returned to me. The other bag I never got back.

Garage company

I’ve never flown with a worse company . My airplane broke down twice which made me miss my connecting flight .. instead of putting me on the next flight they had out they made me wait 12 hours till there 11 pm flight . That one had most room and cheapest tickets left . They could upgraded me to business class which had empty seat . So I suffer for there mechanical issues . This company is garbage and I will never use them again

The Air Canada website and online…

The Air Canada web site and online portal does not work, I fill in all details for my trip as well as payment method. Upon selecting 'I accept, purchase', it doesn't even process or do anything. How am I supposed to book a flight?! Very frustrating.

Aeroplan Customer Service Re, Jennyy

I had the great opportunity to speak with Jennyy, an Aeroplan Customer Service representative, on Saturday, November 18, 2023. To make a long story short, she was most excellent in all respects. What a real pleasure it was to speak with a real person who knew what they were doing. Thank you. Tom Rock

Air Canada pretends to be family friendly

Air Canada pretends on its website to care for families. However, they were not able to change the seating attribution in order to allow the three of us (2 adults, one 2year old) to sit together in one row.
As a minor point, AC announces on its website to have gadgets for kids. However, not even on an intercontinental flight any gift has been offered to our child.
During a night flight walking around with the youngster, one flight attendant send us out of the galley without any explanation.

AIR CANADA- A DISGRACE

My wife, my daughter an I travelled from UK to Toronto with Air Canada on September 21 2023. First the flight was cancelled after paying £60 for 1x23kg to be checked in. A follow up message came stating that they have been unable to automatically book my wife and I on another Air Canada flight.
My daughter had a separate booking and received a message stating that she had been automatically booked onto another flight departing Heathrow at the same time as the cancelled one.
We contacted Air Canada on their Number ending 2262 and the lady managed to book us on the same flight as our daughter. At the airport check in desk to drop off our checked luggage the attendant could not find where payment had been made so we had to pay another £60 for the same bag. Two days later the account had been charged twice. All this because our tickets were deemed to be basic economy. Disappointed, I called Air Canada again and was guided to complete and submit an online refund claim form. No refund came until back in the Uk when I again phoned that same number to chase them. I was on hold for longer than 20 minutes before they could find the double payment and agree to issue a refund. What’s wrong with that system?
Our return journey had over 4.45hr delay at Pearson International Airport.
Initial departure time was 20:45 on 09/28/2023. New departure time was 01:30hrs but departed way after that time.
No food or drink offered at the Airport.
The journey home was made worse by the tasteless chicken served on the flight! Nobody at that food it was awful.
My wife and I claimed for compensation upon arrival but the claim see their reason in quotes: “You are not entitled to a compensation based on the length of your delay experienced at your final destination.”

On the other hand our daughter’s claim who was on the same flight was honoured and she already received her compensation.
Upon hearing her situation we again filed in another claim and within a day received the same negative response.
I contacted the same number as before but the man who answered me said he only does ticketing and unable able to assist with compensation issues.
He advised us to email customer relations and there are not contactable by phone.
Frustrated and disappointed I Tweeted @ Air Canada and got a response requesting my daughter’s case number in order to help!
What attitude is that? That’s embarrassing for the bosses and owners of this Airline. Please give passengers a dignified service.
No to stressful Air Canada!!

We dropped my sister

We dropped my sister, who was visiting us in Toronto from South Africa. The staff at Air Canada were rude, impatient & not helpful at all. There were elderly people that needed help & all they got was a run around. No help at all & no sympathy for the older generation travellers

The air stewardess told me that's not her job ??

The air stewardess told me to talk to the passenger myself who sat on my seat because she do not want to interfere. Seems like that is my job and not hers??? Also, she said I cannot sit on the last row because that's for the cabin crew. However, the seats were empty throughout the flight.

FROZEN PLANE TRAVEL

This review should really be a lot higher as on the flight the staff were really nice and did their jobs to a high standard the reason for my 2 stars is we got a flight from Edinburgh to Toronto Pearson and the whole way everyone sitting down on the plane had to wear jackets, hats and blankets it was so cold. Never in my life have I travelled on a plane with temperatures that low. When I asked the stewardess if it could be turned up she said she would put it up 2 degrees. Which actually stopped everyone from seeing their breath but still freezing. Will not travel again with air canada

Avoid Air Canada At All Costs!

I purchased a route by Air Canada from LA to Dublin with a connection flight to Montreal back in June 2022.

The plane landed but remained stationary for over 3 hours, before finally getting a gate for us to exit the plane. This caused me to miss my connection flight and the earliest flight they put me on was the next day from Montreal to Toronto and then Dublin.

However, they refused to put us in hotels and told us to book them ourseleves and send them the receipt which they will reimburse. This proved very frustrating and expensive, as it was the week of the F1 Grand Prix which meant there was limited hotel rooms available in Montreal. Plus any rooms available were offered at a high price.

Even though I paid a fortune for my room, I remained calm and patient with them.

The next day, we were delayed further at Tornoto but still remained calm and patient.

After sending my compensation claim (which I am entitled to, according to their policy) and seek reimbursment for the hotel room I paid for through the appropriate channels as recommended by Air Canada, I still have not a single penny back.

This has been utterly disappointing as not only I have had any money back, but I have not received any correspondence at all, despite me emailing them.

Never mind airlines, but this is the worst company I have ever dealt with in my life.

I spent a while in waiting patiently for them to get back to me as I had confidence in their system but they have just taken me for granted.

I will continue to warn people of my experience on every social media platform as I feel it's only fair to let people know who they are dealing with.

If there is any update for them, I will also reply.

I think the previous reviews speak for…

I think the previous reviews speak for me.
In 40 years of flying over 4 continents Air Canada is by a wide margin my worst experience. I accept that statistically things occasionally go wrong. Where Air Canada excelled was their refusal to attempt to rectify their mistakes, the lies and misinformation that followed then lastly their complete refusal to follow guidelines laid down by Canada's airline authorities with regards to refunds.
I have had many experiences, cancelled flights, lost luggage etc and all were dealt with properly with the exception of Air Canada who lied then lied again, misinformed me I assume intentionally then when I wrote to them I got a reply simply saying they were not willing to enter into a discussion.
I absolutely loathe this company.
