Currenty looking at 30 hours delays if I am lucky and looking at the logs the delays I encountered are nothing unusual. The very worst. An embarassment for Star Alliance and the country. Good grief.

Terrible experience in Toronto

Terrible experience in Toronto. Massively overpriced flight was also overbooked, so they asked somebody to volunteer to take the next flight. Whilst offering reimbursement, this was only a small part of the overall ticket price. The meal voucher that was given was not accepted in the airport restaurants either. Service extremely poor and rude staff. Was thankful that the connecting flight was with United instead.

Never and ever fly with Air Canada

Last year we had a flight with United operated by Air Canada from Toronto to Montreal. Our flight was first delayed, then canceled, then they put us on another flight which was delayed again. We waited 9 hours for our flight. Then we boarded on the plane and every time the pilot told us that we would take off in few minutes. Finely after an hour and a half in the plane we took off. I filed a complaint to Air Canada, and as always it was something that was out of their control. But the weather was good and all the other flights were on time. Because we were very good client ( what they say) they gave us 20 % off on one flight we take in the next two years.
I was planing a trip to Tanzania and I was looking at good price trip. I found with KLM and Air France good deal with one stop and a lay over of two hours in Europe. The price was between 1300 and 1450 round trip from Montreal. But since I have a promotion of 20% off with air Canada, I decided to check on their web. The least expensive ticket was 5000 dollars ( I am not joking) basic economy class with three stops and lay over of 10 hours in some places and the duration of the trip was between 36 hours and 48 hours. I found it ridiculous and I bought my ticket with KLM. We will see how the service will be with them.
I decided to invite two friends from Hawaii to visit me and I wanted to get rid of my Aeroplan points and forget about Air Canada. I went on Aeroplan Air Canada Web to exchange my points for two tickets. All the flights available and that is 6 months in advance are with a layover in San Francisco for 12 or 13 hours. I tried to book the flight. I did it on line and when I finished my booking it did not process it and it got me back to the front page. After trying many times with no result., I contacted Aeroplan AirCanada. The agent was really nice and she tried to hep me. After trying she found the flight I was booking, and even she encountered the same problem as me. So she decided to do it manually and it worked. It cost me a lot in Aeroplan points for economy class ( because now they have three different catégories where you have to pay money or full Aeroplan points or mixture and it ends up costing more than buying the ticket from an agent with money. Since I wanted to get rid of my Aeroplan points I decided to go with it Plus I was charged 60 $ for using their agent even if the problem was their booking web. I paid it. Now the trip of my two fiends is approaching and we got an email from Air Canada to reserve the seats. Big surprise, we have to pay the seats which it was not mention anywhere in the booking that the seat must be paid. Total 160 $ for the least expensive choice. I called to check why? I was told that is the rule. When I asked why it was not mentioned anywhere, they said that I should know about it and they could not tell me. After waiting on line to process the demand, the agent could not hear my voice and the call was cut.
Air Canada got so much help with our tax money, they gave big bonus to their boss. They don’t have any respect for their client, terrible service and lack of transparency. For me I decided I will never ever put my feet in an airplane operated by Air Canada, nor I will buy a ticket from them, even if they offer the best deal.

Terrible experience

Similar to all of the reviews I have read here, Air Canada ruined our trip to Ireland. We traveled from Honolulu to Dublin. Seats had minimal legroom, system had to be restarted I order for us to have TV. Flight was warm- everyone kept trying to turn up the air. They didn’t send our bags on our connecting flight and we didn’t have any necessities or clothes. This is going on the 3rd day of our trip, and we still haven’t received our luggage. Mind you about 30 other passengers on our flight also had missing luggage. No compensation, difficult to get a response from customer service. They just keep sending links to file a claim. No follow up on their part whatsoever. We will not be flying with Air Canada again, and will advise others as well. Unfortunately, we are Not looking forward to our flight home.

Worst Airline

The check in process was a nightmare. We tried to check in the night before but the website would not allow us, said we needed to see someone at the desk. We arrived about a hour before the flight due to an accident on the highway. They would not let us check in (had to check in 90 mins in advance) even though we couldn’t online. Our flight got delayed so we were there more than 90 mins and they still would not let us check in. The people at the desk wouldn’t even book us another flight, we had to do it on our phones. Everyone we spoke to had to desire to try to help and looked liked they had no desire to be working. They were rude and unpleasant. I will literally avoid traveling to Canada if it means having to fly for this awful airline. Do yourselves a favor and use any other form of transportation over Air Canada.

I used to enjoy flying with Air Canada…

I used to enjoy flying with Air Canada before covid. Now, I wouldn't recommend any of my friends to do it. The only good thing about my flight to Vienna this month was that they didn't lose my luggage. It was promising from the beginning when the captain made an announcement that they tried to reset the system three times and it didn't work, therefore we won't have any entertainment. No TV, nothing else to compensate for it. Then, the food was mediocre, and I am being nice saying that.

PLEASE don't fly with them

The worst airline to date. Dishonest with the bad customer service on top.

Our flight to SFO from YVR was at 1:40 pm, boarding at 12:30 pm. The flight was completely full. At 11:45 am, the flight was moved to a different gate, then at 12:00 pm our flight was completely cancelled with the excuse of "crews constraints".

30 minutes later we got a message saying we are now booked for a flight NEXT day at 5:45 pm that has 3 connecting flights 6 HOURS in TOTAL. Our son is waiting for our return the whole day at home, and we both have work on the day of our now booked flight.

The Air Canada customer service rep at our gate quickly left when we all got our flight cancellation notice. Everyone on our flight was lining up at different Air Canada gates. We were bounced twice to different gates because this rude customer service rep said she's not the general customer service even though she works for Air Canada telling us to go to another gate where there was a line forming already. We stood in line for about 45 mins until 3 Air Canada employees showed up and we still waited for 2 hours just to talk to one of them.

When we did they weren't any helpful, they just said there's no way we will be able to fly home and that all they can offer is some vouchers for a hotel, 1 meal, 1 taxi to come back and forth. I asked if there's any other air lines that can get us home today, they just said NO. They told us to keep the flight they moved us to which is next day.

At this point we just really wanted to not have to deal with them any longer, so we just took their sorry excuses of the vouchers, went back thru customs, picked up our luggages then went to WestJet, where they were able to put us on the flight that's leaving in less than 2 hours. Then we had to go thru the security line again.

My family and I will never ever fly with Air Canada ever again.

Horrible service

Horrible service. We travelled through Asia the over 3 weeks. Only one flight and Air Asia flight was delayed by 30 minutes. As we arrived in Montreal today our flight was cancelled. Next flight delayed and I did not have a seat for us. Next flight at noon was also cancelled. The 2 pm flight is stated as delayed. Now looks like we are 6 hours here and catching the 3 pm flight to Toronto which I am sure will be delayed. October 1st 2023

Air Canada are the worst airline I've…

Air Canada are the worst airline I've ever flown with. We flew from Manchester to Toronto return on a leased aircraft, Omi Air International. It was very old, tired and had minimal leg room even for me who is quite short. The crew were surly & totally disinterested in the passengers & the food was mediocre. The breakfast snack on the return journey was a yoghurt & a tiny stale, cold croissant.
On arrival they had left our luggage behind in Manchester & we spent a 3 week holiday with no clothes. Their delayed baggage communication process is as good as useless as no-one seems to take ownership of the matter. We spent hours trying to contact them whilst trying to enjoy our holiday. We have now been told it could take 45 days before we get a reply. We also experienced cancelled seat bookings & last minute flight changes on subsequent flights during our holiday. Nightmare, will never use them again.

Terrible experience

Terrible experience!
They ruined our vacations, we got our tickets from San Diego to Athens to take our cruise, but not only they were late, but they put us in in a flight from Montreal to Rome that arrive late, then made us run through out the gates to catch the next flight with Aegean Airlines, and our luggage did not arrive, they won’t take any responsibility for the delivery and told us we have to call and call and call Aegean Air, when the flight from Montreal didn’t even release the luggage to Aegean to bring it to us to Athens!
Our cruise departures Sunday and we don’t have anything to wear!!!!

Cannot find any customer contact for a relative email or contact number within the UK that rings. Heathrow Contact number says 'out of service'. It is a shame as Air Canada has served me well in the past but appears customer service has been cut / discontinued. In addition Aeroplan points have not been added to my account with no way to claim them retrospectively.

Air Canada operates on most cheapest standards and certified least reliable airline of north America. They cancelled my Munich to Toronto flight on last minute and baggage is yet to receive after almost one week of arrival. On top of that they won't answer any queries and transfer you here and there without answering your concern.

Avoid if you can

Worst service I have ever experienced from an airline.

3 flight cancellations, delaying travel 36 hours, requiring two unexpected overnight stays. Had to pay for baggage twice, bag damaged en route. The second overnight stay was mid connection at LaGuardia when ongoing flights x 2 were cancelled. (I had booked direct but told this was not an option for several days). Left stranded in a foreign country, with no one I knew to contact locally, with no accommodation available at any of the hotels to call from the LaGuardia info desk. No support from air Canada staff, despite clearly being in distress, even told after waiting over an hour on phone that they would provide accommodation voucher at the air Canada desk, desk then said no only phone can provide that. Couldn’t get through again on the phone.

Told no to compensation when applied after the fact - they why tell me a voucher was an option on the phone?

Awful service and experience. Strongly recommend any other option.

up dateOne booking Sydney N S. to and from LondUp date.on

My FLIGHT Was to and from London Hth to Sydney N, S. Canada. The first flight was delayed by over 3 Hours. Wen I arrived in Montreal I was told my flight had been cancelled, no reason given. As a result I should have got to London at 06.30AM I got there at 7.30PM 13 hours late. I had a connecting flight booked to take me home, which I had missed and had to buy another one to get home. The last offer I got from A. C. was a 300$ voucher to use with them. I am not going there again.
up date.
Ihave now been told that its not their fault they had a delay; It took them a month to find this out?!?! I do not believe them so going to send my complaint to the nexr=t level and see what they say. They can keep thier voucher its of no use to me. Never again.

My daughter was booked on a flight from…

My daughter was booked on a flight from Laguardia airport to Montreal on September 7, 2023 at 20:15 (flight num AC8645). They cancelled the flight while she was already at the airport, she tried to speak with one of the employees there whose name starts with Den something, and the employee was very rude with her so my daughter told her not to be rude, the employee left. My daughter spoke with another one name Kathryn and asked her for the name of the rude employee but she refused to give it to her. My daughter went to see the name by herself but Den hid her tag and than tried to intimidate my daughter passing brutally in front of her as if she was going to hit her and asking for my daughter's name pretending she was going to retaliate against her. This company should be sued, this is the second time we have awfull experience with them, they are incompetent, unprofessional and rude. Definitely going to consult a professionnal to see how I can deal with this employee and Air Canada that are responsible for her.

Unreliable and inconvenient

Horrible service and highly inconvenient with forced baggage checks despite other people having much larger bags. On top of, of course being delayed twice. I'd definitely fly with someone else next time. I can't believe I'm saying this but Lynx air was even better than this.

Please listen, AC, we want to fly with you again

Flew return to Canada from the UK in June. Great aircraft and flight but late arrival in Toronto so claimed compensation. Chose a voucher as we intend to return next year.

Voucher received by email but UK travel agents are unable to use it. Tried to change claim for cash to use against next year's trip but have been resent the voucher 3 times. Tried to call but repeatedly told to call back after 30 minute wait in hold. Is anyone listening?
