Currenty looking at 30 hours delays if I am lucky and looking at the logs the delays I encountered are nothing unusual. The very worst. An embarassment for Star Alliance and the country. Good grief.

Air Canada's Unacceptable Treatment: 3 Years of Ignoring My Claims for a Ruined Trip to Greece

Over 3 years ago, @AirCanada turned our dream trip to Greece into a nightmare! They denied our valid COVID tests (costing us $500!), lost our luggage (forcing us to spend another $1000!), made us take a different airline that DELAYED our VERY EXPENSIVE vacation, downgraded us from our paid PREMIUM seats (which cost $500 extra!), AND have ignored my claims ever since! This is unacceptable! Help me demand accountability! #aircanada #nightmare #lostluggage #badcustomerservice #travelhorror #consumerrights #refund

Don’t choose Air Canada

We were flying from San Diego to Toronto and then on to Barcelona. Our first flight was delayed, and we became concerned about missing our connecting flight. We asked the flight attendants if we could disembark first so we could try to make it, but they refused. Once off the plane, no one was available to direct us to our next gate or tell us if we had enough time to catch the flight. We sprinted through the airport, and when we passed the customer support desk, we asked for help. They simply told us to wait in line, even though our flight was leaving in five minutes.

By the time we reached the gate, it had just closed. The staff there were incredibly rude, speaking to us in a robotic manner, and directed us to customer service to rebook. Once again, there was a complete lack of communication between teams. Customer service wasn't much help either, and they couldn’t book us on a direct flight. When we asked about our rights and compensation, the agent told us the only way out of Canada was through London. To top it all off, they lost our luggage.

If possible, choose a more professional airline.

Air Canada's Wheelchair Assistance

I am deeply disappointed with Air Canada’s handling wheelchair Assistance for my 77-year-old mother's recent travel experience. She has significant mobility issues, is a cardiac patient with back surgery. I purchased her ticket trusting Air Canada would provide the pre-arranged assistance (wheelchair) she needed.
During a 1 hour and 45-minute connection in Toronto, the staff member assisting my mother told her to walk to the gate on her own, saying it "should be a short walk." She was left alone in the elevator without a gate number on her boarding pass. What was supposed to be a short walk turned into a long distance, causing her significant physical and emotional distress. Given her age and medical condition, this was a serious failure in service that put her well-being at risk.
What makes the situation worse is that Air Canada offered a $200 travel credit as compensation, which I find wholly inadequate. Meanwhile, other passengers have received up to $1,000 for voluntarily changing flights due to overbooking.
This was not just a minor service lapse—it was a failure to provide essential, pre-arranged assistance to an elderly woman with health challenges. AC:000609000025221

So terrible

So terrible, a cancelled flight from Canada to London. The replacement flight 48h later. Replacement flight was via Dublin to Manchester. Once arrived in Dublin the next flight to Manchester was cancelled so I never arrived at my destination.

The customer service is useless, next to non existent. I have received 0 compensation for these cancellations.

Beware when they offer to load your trolley in the hold: they don't pay if it arrives broken!

I travelled with Air Canada from Miami to Rome. In Miami, since the plane was full, they offered to load my hand luggage, a trolley, into the hold for free so it wouldn't take up space in the overhead compartments. Once we arrived, the trolley was smashed. I asked for a refund but they told me that since I had not paid the hold baggage fee, they would not refund it. But insurance covers all damaged luggage loaded on a flight, paid or not. For a few measly euros they lost a customer: I will never fly with them again, as they are not exceptional nor are their fares particularly convenient. And if you have a stopover, you also have to get an ETA tourist visa, even if you don't leave the airport.

AIR CANADA SIMPLY THE WORST

I traveled on Air Canada flight AC 313 from YUL to YVR at 9:30pm EST with my elderly parents. Within 15 minutes of settling into our seats, we discovered that the monitors in rows 16-17-18 were not working. Despite half of the plane being empty, including preferred seating in rows 18 and 19, we were rudely offered seats further toward the back of the plane, excluding the empty seats right behind us simply because they had an extra five inches of legroom.

The lack of courtesy from Air Canada staff was disappointing. They showed no compassion or respect for passengers, including those who contribute to their salaries. I’ve flown with many airlines, and Air Canada consistently falls short in customer service. It’s frustrating to see such behavior from the national airline, and it reflects poorly on our country. Other successful airlines treat their passengers with far more kindness and professionalism.

This is the worst airline I have ever…

This is the worst airline I have ever flown. I have flown them all and this is the absolute worst.
Delayed flight, held us hostage on the tarmac, would not let anyone off the plane after being rerouted. Attitude and being ignored from all the flight attendants. It’s amazing to me why anyone would fly this airline with all the horrible reviews, I only wish that I would have read the reviews before booking air Canada.

But here is one more terrible terrible review, to add to the long list.

Save your self the grief, frustration and Pain.

Do not use from the UK

How can an airline from a so-called developed company provide such bad customer service. I would strongly recommend UK travelers not to use Air Canada as there is absolutely no way of contacting them in the UK. I ended up phoning Canada and wasted about £50 trying to get through. I would never use again. They spoiled my holiday!

Air Canada Nightmare: Incompetence and Unprofessionalism on Return Flight

In my recent vacation to Japan, I flew with Air Canada and experienced severe inadequacies in their staff training and unprofessional conduct, particularly during the return journey.

My itinerary included a smooth outbound flight from Miami to Montreal and then onto Tokyo. However, the return journey from Narita to Montreal was marred by a series of unpleasant incidents.

Upon landing in Montreal, the airport's disorganization and chaos immediately became apparent. It took us an excruciating hour just to leave the airport. Given our extended 13-hour layover in Montreal, we decided to book a hotel near the airport to prepare for our final flight AC1650, scheduled to depart from gate C77 on September 15th at 8:35 AM.

As we arrived at the gate, announcements were made informing passengers that the Airbus 319 was fully booked and requesting volunteers to check their carry-ons. My wife, parents, and I had two essential carry-ons, so we did not volunteer.

When it was our turn to board (Group 4), an inexperienced Air Canada employee, a young woman no older than 25, approached me and asked me to place my bag in the size checker. I complied, and to my surprise, the bag, which I had used on numerous trips without issue, fit perfectly. However, the employee insisted that my bag was oversized and demanded that we must check both luggages or face being denied boarding. She even claimed that this was federal law and that we were in violation.

Her unfounded claims and unprofessional demeanor left us standing there while everyone else boarded the aircraft. After a considerable wait, she finally returned and asked, "Are you going to check your bags or do you want to speak to my manager?" Confident that I was within my rights, I requested to see her manager.

Shortly after, a more senior employee, a woman in her forties, arrived and asked, "What's going on? Why aren't you boarding?" I explained the situation, and she immediately asked me to place my bag in the size checker again. Upon seeing that it fit perfectly, she acknowledged, "Yes, you can board." However, the younger employee, clearly unwilling to admit her mistake, insisted, "No, I've already called my manager." The senior employee, visibly frustrated, replied firmly, "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, I AM YOUR SUPERIOR, AND I'M TELLING YOU, THEY CAN BOARD."

After enduring unnecessary stress and waiting, my wife and I were finally allowed to board. Unsurprisingly, our bags fit perfectly in the overhead compartments, further highlighting the absurdity of the situation. This incident added to the exhaustion of a 26-hour journey and marred what should have been a routine boarding process.

This experience exposed serious gaps in Air Canada's staff training and professionalism. I urge the airline to address these issues promptly and thoroughly to prevent future passengers from enduring similar frustrations. It is essential that Air Canada invests in comprehensive training programs that emphasize customer service, empathy, and adherence to company policies to ensure a seamless and positive travel experience for all passengers.

Impressed with everything

Im really confused with all the bad reviews, infact before I travelled I contacted my travel agent to raise my concerns because of the reviews, she said personally she had not received any complaints from any of her customers but she gave reassurance by giving me contact details should i need them. I was worried as I had never used Air Canada before.
All I can say is everything was fantastic, i went from Heathrow to Toronto, ( Wed 4th Sept) very easy check in, flight on time, staff lovely, food usual plane food but was fine, drinks pleantiful inc wine/spirits if you wanted them. We then went from Toronto to Vancouver (Fri 6th Sept) again easy check in, staff lovely, flight on time, food perfectly good, same with drinks, final flight Vancouver to Heathrow ( Sun 15th Sept) and for 3rd time everything was great. Going on my experience i would recommend 100%. They even text through receipt for luggage as soon as it went through and messaged on landing to say which belt the luggage was on for collection!

The Worst Airline to fly with

The worst Company to fly with! My parents came to visit me in Canada from Italy. They had a 7 hours delay on their first flight and now on their way back are literally held on the plane that will not leave the airport. It's been 3 hours and they have already missed not just the first connection but the second one as well. They also haven't even been offered food. Air Canada is trash. A couple of years ago they cancelled 5 flights in 3 days for myself; 4 days before my departure.

The worst customer service (if air Canada has such a thing)

There are so many signs why they don't care about providing good customer service, and in my case any customer service. I cancelled a flight a month ago, and I was supposed to get only 40% of it (this side apart) the refund never happened. I tried to contact them. there are no email address for Non-urgent matters so you can follow up matters via that. I tried calling them and I was told I might wait up to 60 minutes, long story short I was on hold for 2hours and 10 min before my call got cancelled without any answers. you'd expect such a big company to provide call back service, or at least announces how many people are ahead of you so you'd know what to expect. it seems there is no customer service, and you are on your own.

Awful Air Canada

Absolutely spoilt our holiday in Canada. Kept us waiting in Toronto airport for over 9 hours before cancelling flight at 11 pm at night. Didn’t retrieve our luggage until 3am the following day and then we had to pay for hotel 550 CAD as all other hotels were booked. Lost a night in Vancouver ( hotel there had already been paid). They have refused to pay any compensation and they are blaming weather although the real cause was they didn’t have staff available for the flight. My advice avoid this airline!!

Shame on you

Very careless crew members, denied and ignored my request for water, always this is the attitude of French speaking hostesses . Food became just imitation not true food, imitation flesh ( call it chicken) with tasteless courgettes even no salt and pepper were supplied. Breakfast was no choice except a hydrogenated fatty slice of English cake with yogurt not suitable for diabetic, pre
-diabetic or even healthy human beings . 8 hours flight fully booked flight operating with only one washroom !!!! That must be air third world not Canada. Shame on you
