Apprehensive at first but now we are…

Apprehensive at first but now we are happily impressed with the quality of rice produced by Fuji rice cooker. The low carb function is unusual but works well, My wife is diabetic and could never eat rice easily before but can do this easily.

Suspicious delivery info, nothing received

The courier DPD say they delivered my Yum-Asia product to my neighbour, but photo they provided shows my neighbour's door closed (no package visible), and they gave a false name (not my neighbour's name). My neighbour has always been great holding packages for me, I have no reason to suspect them - and due to the above, every reason to suspect the DPD guy. Yum-Asia say that because I agreed to it being delivered to my neighbour if I'm out, it's not their responsibility if I don't receive it. However, the DPD info - clearly my neighbour's door, but no package in photo, and false name - seems highly suspicious to me. Yum-Asia flatly refused any kind of refund or replacement. Hugely frustrating, I guess I'll head to the small claims court, but it's outrageous that Yum-Asia are so rigid and insensitive on this.

Hi Steven, we completely understand your frustration and anger regarding the delivery.

As we have responded to you by e-mail, we are still pursuing DPD for answers about your delivery and disputing their records. We hope that they will reverse their decision that the delivery has been made correctly.

FAULTY ITEMS SOLD, COMPANY DOESN'T CARE

UPDATE TO YOUR REPLY: first you are misleading people by your comments. the exchange form 2 years ago was for the delayed timer set for 2hrs. I set it and it turned on straight away. You told me that if the timer is set for 2.5hrs or less the rice cooker turns on straight away. So i accepted your explanation and left it at that. As i only cook rice when i go shopping.

Secondly even if we agree that it was working 2 years ago, you admit that it isn't working now. So either way you sold me a faulty item.

Uk law requires appliances to last 6 years. Even if it developed a fault in those 2 years YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.

It is not like i can damage the timer from misuse. I could understand refusing to fix a broken display, as that could be user damage. but a faulty timer is obviously a fault by manufacturer.

YOU ARE A DISHONEST COMPANY. AND THE 1 STAR REVIEWS ON AMAZON SHOW MANY EXAMPLES OF YOUR POOR QUALITY CONTROL AND SALE OF FAULTY ITEMS

UPDATE: If you buy this brands cooker, test every function. As i just found out the delayed timer doesn't work. When i asked them to remedy it, they refused. They sold a faulty item. I hadn't noticed as i am a single person and only cook rice once a week. So never had the need to use the delayed function till now.

who knows what other functions don't work. I won't be buying their brand anymore. Better off buying a rice cooker for a third of a the price. At least they will work.

Hi, thanks for sharing your feedback. We’re sorry to hear you feel disappointed.

We did want to clarify a few points to ensure the situation is accurately represented. We have email correspondence from a couple of months after your purchase where you contacted us about the timer. In those emails, we were able to identify that the timer was being set incorrectly, and once we clarified the correct steps from the user manual, the rice cooker functioned as expected. Based on that exchange, the timer was confirmed to be working properly at that time.

Your rice cooker has been in use for over two years without any reported issues, and the concern you’ve raised now falls outside the warranty period. Like all manufacturers, our warranty has a fixed duration, and we must follow those terms consistently.

Looking at your other 1 and 2 star negative reviews of other companies here on Trustpilot, it seems that you don't have a lot of luck with your interactions with companies who provide goods and services to you.

Dangerous customer support

I purchase a rice cooker - Fuji UMAI Induction Heating IH Ceramic Rice Cooker (YUM-IH07) - and I was happy with it for close to 3 years.
Then the coating of the ceramic bowl started to peel off. I had been following the maintenance guide to the letter with moderate usage (~2 times per week). On the website, they claim that this bowl is "hard wearing" and "extremely durable". In my dictionary, that's not what extremely durable is.
I reached out to support to say that this was not expected for such an expensive item, showing pictures of the coating peeling off. Whatever is coming off is clearly not safe for consumption (it felt like a material close to plastic film with a copper colour on the outside). They came back to me saying that since my purchase was outside of the warranty period they wouldn't offer a replacement and that I could purchase another bowl - which one can consider bad customer support, but somewhat understandable. The worst part was that they also told me that I could keep using my current bowl and that it was safe to use. Again, I provided pictures of the coating that was coming off, and they told me that it's safe to use the bowl and have that stuff cooked into rice that I would then eat. I replied and asked to confirm if they were serious, just to give a second chance. They once again told me it was safe to use.
I think it's pretty clear that the advice of keeping using the bowl (in the state I described) is dangerous. It's irresponsible and could make someone, who would follow such advice, sick.

Hi Hugo, we understand your concern about your rice cooker bowl and would like to clarify things again for you.

As mentioned previously, the warranty for the inner bowls of our rice cookers covers a period of 6 months from the date of purchase. Since your rice cooker was purchased 3 years ago, both the cooker and bowl are unfortunately no longer covered under warranty.

Please be assured that your bowl is safe to use, as previously outlined by e-mail. All of our products are rigorously tested to meet or exceed US, UK, EU, and Singapore safety standards, including ETL, CE, UKCA, and RoHS certifications. The inner bowl is made from 100% natural ceramic, and is BPA-free, PFOA-free, and PTFE-free. We never use any toxic or unsafe materials in our products, it would be both against our company values and illegal to do so.

If you’d prefer to replace your bowl, we’ve already shared information on how to order a new one directly from our website. While it’s outside the warranty period, we’re happy to help guide you through the purchase process if needed.

Warranties are always based on a fixed time frame rather than usage, as it isn’t possible to verify how frequently or in what conditions a product has been used. This is a standard approach across the industry.

Small issue with a product turned into a full on gaslighting session

Let me start by saying that over the bamboo rice cooker I have is really good, but what isn't is the attitude of the staff.

My unit wobbles a bit, I was told I could fix the issue by adjusting the back feet. Unfortunately, the feet don't hold up under their weight when doing that. What really got me though was that instead of there being even a small chance the unit has a minor wobble, it had to be my kitchen surface ( the unit wobbles on every surface I've tried so far).

I was told that if there was a problem with my unit, every single unit would have the same issue. I was sent an image showing a "wobble" test and again informed that the mold for the rice cooker has never changed.

We finished by agreeing that tolerance existed but still, it felt like an attempt to gaslight and if you have an issue with any products I would tell you to prepare for the same.

Hello,

Thank you for reaching out, and we're sorry to hear you're experiencing a wobble with your Bamboo rice cooker. We understand how frustrating this can be, and we truly appreciate the opportunity to clarify.

As our customer support team mentioned previously, the Bamboo rice cooker is produced using highly precise mass production molds, which are carefully engineered and rigorously tested to ensure consistency. These molds represent a significant investment and are designed to eliminate the possibility of variations such as an uneven body or legs. In fact, if there were an issue with the mold, it would affect thousands of units, not just one.

That said, we absolutely do not doubt that you are experiencing a wobble. We simply want to help identify the root cause. In most cases, such issues are often due to uneven countertops or slight variations in the rubber feet, both of which can be adjusted or resolved.

We’re here to help you troubleshoot this further if needed, and we're happy to suggest a few quick checks or solutions to stabilize your unit. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any additional information or questions—we're committed to ensuring you have a great experience with your Bamboo product.

Warm regards,

Yum Asia

I received a manufacturers damaged item

I received a damaged item, looked like it had been refurbished ,there was a broken piece of the inside rim ,it was a terrible experience trying to get a refund from this company and customer service was abrupt , I had to keep taking loads of photos and being a pensioner ,I was not into all this ,I just wanted my money back , they even had me take the heavy machine back to the Asda store instead of picking it up at my house as a goodwill gesture , appalled, that's all I can say ,not to trust good reviews on items as it doesn't mean anything , bad experience for me , I only can say I am buying British made items from now on , quality is if the utmost importance !

Hi Christine, firstly, we want to reassure you that we do not sell refurbished items—everything we offer is new, as stated on our product listings. When you contacted us about a potential issue with your item, we asked for clear photos to better understand the concern along with your order information. Unfortunately, the images you provided were too blurred and close-up for us to assess the problem. We did request additional photos and specific information, including your order number, multiple times, which led to some delays in processing your return because you refused to provide further photos and it took us asking 4 times to get your order information. So it is untrue that you had to take 'loads of photos'.

We understand that this back-and-forth may have been frustrating, but please know that our intention was simply to try and resolve the matter as efficiently as possible. Like many online retailers (and looking at your previous reviews, other retailers have asked for photos from you as well), we ask for photos to avoid unnecessary inconvenience and to expedite returns. We try to make this process as smooth as we can, and your cooperation is essential to that.

We also want to clarify our returns process: we provide QR code return labels for drop-off at a local point, as courier collections often result in missed pickups and longer wait times. You requested a QR code, and we issued one to move things forward quickly in the absence of receiving the photos we had asked for.

Once your return reached our warehouse, your refund was processed within a few hours. Our team was unable to locate the issue you described, and the photos did not help to verify the fault. However, we still issued a full refund and covered the return shipping ourselves as a gesture of goodwill.

I asked for a refund for the delievery…

I requested a refund for the delivery fee because I had to drive a long distance to the GLS warehouse as YumAsia had written the wrong recipient address.

And of course you did the wrong address because I have the pictures! I will send you that on the email!!!

Hi, we did not make any mistake with your address. Only the address that you provide during the checkout is sent to our warehouse (electronically) and then provided to UPS in the same way. So there is absolutely no way that we can provide an incorrect address.

As we informed you by support ticket, we think UPS muddled your address with the hospital around the corner from you. This is where the parcel was delivered and where you needed to go to collect the parcel.

We aren't sure why you had to travel a long distance to a GLS warehouse when we don't use GLS for our shipping at all and when the parcel was located a few minutes walk from your address.

Two failures on same model - no goodwill, rigid warranty response

I’ve now had two YumAsia Fuji (YUM-IH07) units fail on me. The first developed a display fault not long after purchase and was replaced. The second - the replacement unit - has now failed too, with a cracked bowl that caused damage to the heating element and made it unsafe to use (smoke was billowing out of it!).

I contacted YumAsia with photos and explained the full situation, including that the cooker was very lightly used and had been in storage for over a year during a house move. I approached them calmly and in good faith, hoping that after two faulty units, they might offer a goodwill gesture or replacement. What I got instead was a rigid policy response based purely on the unit being outside the fixed 2-year warranty.

They made it clear that they cannot verify how a product has been used, so they won’t consider any context - no matter how carefully it’s been treated or how many issues you've had. The most frustrating part is that they requested photos and details over the course of a week, only to fall back on warranty terms without any real acknowledgement of the bigger picture. If their answer was always going to be no, they could have saved everyone the time.

I recommended this product to others, including family, but after experiencing two serious faults in the same model and a completely inflexible support approach, I wouldn’t buy from YumAsia again.

Hi Robert, we understand that you're disappointed. We'd like to take a moment to clarify a few details regarding your review.

The first unit you received was purchased over 4.5 years ago, unfortunately this had a display issue very soon after purchase. This was an extremely rare occurrence, and we're glad we were able to replace that unit promptly at the time.

The replacement unit has now been with you for over 4.5 years. As we discussed during our support interactions, our warranty is based on a fixed time period rather than usage, which is standard across most appliance manufacturers. Since we’re unable to verify usage frequency or conditions of use, warranties are structured this way to remain fair and consistent.

Regarding our recent communication: you first contacted us on July 4th, and today is July 10th. We’ve responded promptly at each step, and any delays were primarily due to the time needed to receive the photos we requested from you to properly assess the issue. This helps ensure we provide accurate support and advice.

As mentioned earlier, issues due to manufacturing defects typically appear within the first 6 months of use. Since this unit is well beyond our 2-year warranty period, by over 2.5 years, we're unfortunately unable to offer a replacement.

We value you as a customer and we are sorry that we can’t offer a resolution that aligns with your expectations in this case.

Great customer service

I ordered the Panda rice cooker after reading a good review online. The rice cooker arrived, but it was broken in transit. I made contact and it was replaced in three days, without any drama. Which is what you want.
And it makes great rice, so I'm a happy panda.

No reply to product issue. Disappointing customer service.

I have contacted Yum Asia on 2 x separate occasions and not received any reply despite their website confirming that I should receive a reply within 24 hrs.
I recently bought their rice cooker on Amazon and used it for the second use to make porridge. Following the instructions exactly, I was extremely shocked to find porridge was coming out of the steam vent!! I am very disappointment and have lost faith in the product and company, not for only the experience with the product but also for the lack of reply on both occasions.

Edit - I response to your reply, it was yourselves that I contacted and received an automated response stating you would reply within 24 hrs. I have a screenshot picture of this with your website included.

Edit -
You did reply — eventually found your emails in my spam. But odd that your Trustpilot reply claims I never contacted you or that your website doesn’t send auto-responses… when it clearly did.

Also, I said soft water, not very soft — no need to exaggerate. A heads-up in your manual could’ve saved us both the trouble.

Hi Heledd, thank you for supplying the information we requested via Trustpilot.

Looking at our records on both our website e-mail and on our Amazon system we haven't received any contact from you about any issue with your order. We suspect that you have contacted Amazon rather than ourselves. Can you please send an e-mail to the e-mail address stated on page 2 of your instruction manual with your order number and full details of the issue. We will then be able to advise further.

EDIT - we don't know who you are contacting, but we have never received any e-mail from you. We do not have any kind of automated response on our website or e-mail. Please e-mail us using the e-mail address stated on page 2 of your instruction manual. Once we have received your e-mail we will be able to help.

EDIT - we are still waiting contact from you?

EDIT - you finally contacted us saying that you had found our replies to your previous messages (they were in your spam folder). We diagnosed the reason for your issue being related to very soft water you are using. We hope this is resolved for you now.

EDIT - we couldn't find your contact because it wasn't made under your name and we didn't have access to your e-mail address until you provided the information Trustpilot requested. Unfortunately, if the contact isn't under your name and we don't have your e-mail address, it's very difficult for us to find the original contact to verify. So this is why we said we couldn't find your contact initially.

Poor quality products and bad customer service

I purchased a hot water dispenser two years and 7 months ago and it was broken recently with no hot water coming out. The product quality is questionable with such short lifespans of normal daily usage. The more frustrating part is that the customer service offered no repair and no solution on the problem. Just let the customer feel bad and go away to other brands.

Update:

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality and last a reasonable length of time. This hot water dispenser costed £120 with lifespan less than 3 years. I contacted the customer service again with this argument but they just ignored me.

Also from their reply to this review, it is obvious that they won’t care about customers and won’t even care about the law. They offer no resolution to help their customers to remain confident on continually using their products. Not to mention that the product itself is way overprice as you can find other similar hot water dispensers in a cheaper price.

Hi Chi,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear about the issue with your hot water dispenser and understand how frustrating it must be when an appliance stops working.

As you mentioned, your unit is currently around eight months outside of the warranty period. The lifespan of appliances like this can vary quite a bit depending on usage patterns, and we know that what one person considers "normal daily use" can differ from another’s routine.

We did explain that, unfortunately, the particular fault with your unit isn’t something that can be repaired — similar to how a kettle's heating element typically can’t be replaced once it fails. We always aim to be transparent, and in this case, we wanted to be upfront about the fact that a repair option isn’t available for this type of issue.

Unable to order replacement

Refused to supply replacement ceramic bowl as I was unable to supply original order number. The markings had already come off after just 18 months. It is an interesting model to build barriers that stop customers buying from you. If I knew it would so difficult to get a simple replacement part I would have never bought it.

Review of the company and web, not a product

I decided to order a product on the Yum Asia website instead of the marketplace websites and... first impressions are not great.
Amex doesn't seem to be accepted, but I got over that quickly. Delivery was free, and I must say it was very quick. Kudos.
Now, the product came and looked like a return already, with the box and wraps not having the expected factory finish.
So, I attempted to log an issue on the web form, but after completing it, I never got an automated email confirmation or the website confirmation. I attempted again and carefully monitored if the website would have a pop-up or anything - but still nothing and still no confirmation email. So for the third attempt, just to be sure, I have sent an email. At this point, I got so stressed that I decided I didn't want an exchange but a refund.
And it's only now, a bit late as I should have checked it when purchasing - their return site has a lot of disclaimers.
Because of the reputation and friends’ recommendation, I decided to stick with the brand, but I'll get it from an established marketplace seller who has a good and tested returns policy. But I'm also getting a bigger model.

I will update this review and rating after I hear back from them.

Great products and a customer care I have never seen elsewhere

Two weeks ago I had never heard of this company, mostly because I'm new to the world of proper rice cooking. I started off by buying their Bamboo rice cooker and was so amazed by the result that I eventually went all in and bought nearly all of their accessories, a hot water dispenser and a cookbook. Every item I bought, the rice washing bowl, the storage containers, the Iku mug, the hardback cookbook and of course the rice cooker is of very high quality, was packaged with care and got delivered in 2-3 days. That whole experience was great but it's not the reason I'm writing this review.

I did receive a faulty unit when I first ordered the rice cooker (the quick cook program worked and produced amazing rice but the menu button for selecting programs didn't) and that is actually what eventually made me go crazy and order everything else, because I have never seen a company care this much about its reputation and its customers at this level before. Earlier when I researched which rice cooker to buy I saw that YumAsia representatives are replying on forums, review sites, YouTube, you name it. They post useful tips, clear up confusion about features, models and general usage and reach out to people who might have issues with their products. And they have done so for years! I'm a tech nerd and I can tell you that the apple company and others don't do that, nor do most brands in home electronics and kitchen appliances.

So, when I got my faulty rice cooker I thought about shipping it back to amazon but decided to send in a ticket to YumAsia. Three days later I received a new rice cooker and as a bonus I was told to not send back the faulty one but to keep the bowl and accessories as spares. So I guess I'm stuck with an awesome rice cooker for life now.

I've never written a product review before but this experience, funnily enough because I happened to get a faulty unit, combined with the fact that they actually try to be pro-active and seem to be everywhere to reach out to customers, is frankly amazing to me. In an age where companies are harder and harder to reach this was truly refreshing.
