I loved the online German B1 level courses taught by Luzi and Johannes. The lessons were well laid-out, easy to follow, and new concepts were well-explained. They gave a lot of thought putting together these courses and it shows. The format is spot on, and the cost is very reasonable in my opinion. I can’t wait for them to release a level B2 course!

Excellent, excellent, excellent. A lot of teachers make learning difficult, these guys are absolutely great teachers! And that’s an understatement. Not only are their courses great value for money, they simplify and make it interesting! Can’t recommend it enough!

I just completed the entire A1 course. It was so good. It exceeded all expectations. I feel like I learned a lot and the material was presented in a way that built upon itself and never became overwhelming. I just took the A1 exam today. I felt confident and I think that I did well; I won't get the results for two weeks. I would recommend this course to anyone serious about learning German!

The A2.1 course continues with the same thorough standard evident in the A1.1 and A1.2 courses. I am quite pleased with my progress thus far , especially with the solid foundation in German grammar which these courses do not shy away from.
After fully digesting this material I intend to take their
A.2.2 course.

I have been studying with Your German Teacher for both A1 and A2.1, and it is by far the BEST resource I have found online. The teachers are very clear and excellent at breaking down complex German grammar into digestible pieces. I just passed my A1 exam with 58.5 out of 60 points — I couldn’t be happier. I will definitely continue learning with them.

Biggest problem for me is that I have zero knowledge about German Language. This means that I have to work really hard. I enrolled in a German school, though my teacher is really good I have to watch some German videos/lesson to solidify my knowledge in German and that's how I found Luzi and Johannes in Youtube. The explanation is very good with great examples that I can use in daily life. Then I decided to enroll in A2 course which helps me specially for me as working professional. I really like the assessment test that they give every end of the Course. Thank you so much Luzi and Johannes for your efforts in making these videos and making it free in YouTube. This really help us beginners who are afraid to enroll as we have no idea if the school are really good or not. Your videos are really good assessment to encourage one person to enroll in your courses. Sending emails as well about certain topics helps professionals to remember that we have to do German lessons.

I have tried other methods of learning and spent more money than I’d of liked to have trying to wrap my head around German grammar.
Johannes and Luzi have put together a program that works. It’s useful to have explanations in English, together with exercises and videos that are clear and uncomplicated.
This course works as a support or as standalone training. I would recommend checking YouTube videos out, so you see if their style of instruction works for you.
I have always enjoyed learning languages but have found German a minefield. I am very pleased to have been recommended YourGermanTeacher.
I won’t come away a fluent speaker but I will have more confidence, a better understanding of structure and way less grey hair.

I took the Learn Your German Teacher A1.1 course, and I honestly just want to say thank you. I really wish I had found it earlier.

What I struggled with most before was that, even though there is a lot of German material on YouTube, it always felt so scattered. I would watch a lesson, then have to search for worksheets somewhere else, then look for listening practice separately. It was overwhelming and made learning much harder than it needed to be.

This course made everything so much easier because it’s all structured in one place. All I had to do was commit and follow the lessons.

Since I had already tried learning German several times before, I was able to complete one chapter a day and finish A1.1 in about 10 days. Even then, there were still so many things that finally made sense because of how clearly they were taught.

If you’re feeling lost, overwhelmed, or you get stressed by too many different resources, I would 110% recommend this course.

Luzi and Johannes have created a product that captures everything you need to learn German. Outstanding Videos, both in presentation style as well as the information presented graphically, that made you feel you were getting one-on-one instruction. The coursebook and workbook are incredibly valuable and if used continuously boosted dramatically the learning from the Videos. I started at A1.1 and just concluded B1.2. I feel I am very prepared to read, write, and converse in any situation I may find myself!

I recently completed the YourGermanTeacher A2.1 lessons, after finishing A1.1 and A1.2. I now will begin A2.2. It has been years since I took German as my language requirement in college, and I found this online package extremely helpful in not only refreshing my memory but also introducing me to things I completely missed in college. The videos and exercises, along with printouts summarizing key concepts, are excellent.

I just finished the B1.1 course and it was excellent. Also, I found the brainscape flashcards to be huge help. I highly recommend YourGermanTeacher. Thanks Luzi and Johannes.

I have completed both A1 courses and recently A2.1 so far. I am attempting to complete a desired goal started in the mid-1980´s with two years of University level German (by correspondence).It was OK and I was moderately successful. Now I am retired I find taking up the challenge of at least being able to read, understand and write German to be completely enjoyable. I could say, repetitively, everything that has been said in all the reviews posted here (my fingers will not allow that), but I heartily agree and completely endorse every word.

Johannes and Luzi have put out a first rate product. I have found their suggestions extremely helpful. Following them has greatly enhanced my learning. I think now, before starting A2.2 I will consider the Flashcard option. I feel compelled to complete B1.2! Thank you Luzi und Johannes!

After studying German many years ago but then letting my speaking skills lapse, I became motivated to reacquaint myself with the language. Fortunately, I found YourGermanTeacher on YouTube. I felt that their videos presented German grammar with great clarity and energy. After watching over three dozen, I purchased their A1 and A2 bundle that came with more in depth video presentations, written instructional material, workbooks and access to vocab flash cards. I continued to be highly impressed. I’ve just finished YGT’s B1.1 course. It also offered the same excellent learning experience as A1 and A2. Additionally, it felt empowering as it exposed me to many more ways of expressing myself in everyday German. Next on my list is YGT’s B1.2 course.

The course does a fantastic job of teaching the German language. The only limitation is that it stops at B1 at this time. Austria is planing to require B2 level later in 2026 but if you have B2 now, you are granted an accelerated citizenship procedure. Other countries might follow suit. So it would be extremely helpful if Luzi and Johannes (the instructors) would release B2 material.

I love love love this course. Johannes and Luzi are excellent teachers and present the material in a very clear, easily digestible, and simple to comprehend way in their videos. They always respond promptly to any questions you have, so it is like having a personal teacher in the classroom. Definitely a must to purchase the flashcard option through Brainscape that is offered with the course; this was actually crucial to getting enough practice with vocabulary and phrases.

This is one of the best online courses for German. I started from A1 up to B1 level. What makes this course special is that it is not a traditional school or university German course. In this course, you will learn practical things for everyday German—something that we all need in daily life. A fantastic course; I highly recommend it.

I started to learn German when COVID came. After a while of searching for free online youtube tutorials, I found that I kept coming back to these guys for easy and clear explanations, even as I was taking a couple of beginner on-line paid courses. When I saw that YourGermanTeacher actually offered a course, how could I not sign up! I am about to begin B1.2..

YGT's A1.1 and A1.2 courses are incredible! The teaching videos are perfectly clear. The examples are logical, and the special effects to help students understand are perfect. The worksheets are many, but repetition is crucial. The HELP and feedback received if questions are submitted is lightning fast, friendly, and filled with humor.

I highly recommend YGT. It is worth the money. I spent 5 times as much on private lessons for the same content but was often confused. Use these courses to learn and practice writing, grammar, and reading. If you need/want to practice speaking and listening to what you learned through YGT videos, hire a tutor.
