I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT SHAME ON ME

Wish I read the reviews 1st.
YouTube ad is very misleading.
When it's too good to be true it usually is.
Seriously don't waste your money unless you're happy to work on a completely different operating system and re download all your apps again.
Cant run any of my existing apps like protools and basically it takes over you pc.
Also after I bought the product I got bombarded with spam trying to sell me other products and I had to unsubscribe one by one.
Look at the star rating says it all.
I think I'll just upgrade my pc.

Like many other reviewers on here

Like many other reviewers on here, we have found this to be a complete waste of money. We have tried on 3 of 5 computers and it has done absolutely nothing to speed up the computers so have given it up as a lost cause. Don't waste your money.

This is scam

This is scam. I ordered one, but it does not work, so many instructions and procedures to speed the computer, it totally does not work. I returned the product, but there is no response. Stay away from this product!!!

Xtra-PC is a scam

Xtra-PC is a scam. They are selling an install of the Linux operating system which is available free by the developers - it is open-source free software! Their scam software install will NOT run many of your existing or old apps unless there is a Linux software version available (again free). You cannot easily move over your emails. You can download and use Linux for free.

Deceptive and ineffective

First of all, I am willing to take responsibility for my part in the problem I had with Xtra-PC. I foolishly took too long to try to work on the problem I had and went past the 60-day refund period. I did beg for mercy and asked for the refund anyway but that didn't happen. I'm angry with myself for that, but I can't blame the company for sticking with their policy.

Also, I'm still learning to not fall for too-good-to-be-true schemes, and haven't done a very good job of it. For people who aren't familiar with the true complexity of computers, it's easy to get roped in. Xtra-PC takes advantage of that. Those who have made it work are most likely those who have a far better understanding of computers than I do.

I ordered the device and once I received it proceeded to do as the instructions suggested. There were no paper instructions (I like to have something on paper because I never know what can happen on a computer screen: I can't just turn a page.) I tried to follow instructions but they didn't quite match what I was actually seeing on the screen. Eventually, my efforts were "rewarded" with the computer simply not working at all. No blue screen of death (it may yet be fixable), but a dark screen stares silently back at me. The brand logo of the computer appears at the beginning and then there is nothing.

I tried tapping repeatedly various iterations of the F8 and F11 keys and whatever else I thought might work to wake up the brain, and occasionally a short series of funny little numbers and characters lined up in the upper left-hand corner of the screen. But that was all of the life I could muster out of the machine.

So I contacted the company for support, and though the agent was kind, he/she was unable to help and told me I would have to get the computer working again (i.e., the original OS) before they could help me. When I asked for a refund they reminded me of the 60-day warranty term and I smacked myself on the head for not paying close attention to the time span. (I didn't really smack myself but I felt like it.) I did beg for mercy but to no avail.

Summary: unless you know the ins and outs of computers pretty well, don't fall for this.

It took abit of installing remember to…

It took abit of installing remember to adjust display settings turn off power management on display settings once you got it up and running. I found deleting the windows partition in xtra pc format feature worked. It worked good after that. The very first thing to do thow was to disable boot secure in the BIOS then make the USB a bootable drive then remember to save it in the BIOS once it's going. do what I said at the beginning of this review. Well that was my experience with xtra pc

When I read about Xtra-PC I thought it…

When I read about Xtra-PC I thought it was the answer to my prayers as I have a very good Samsung RF711 laptop that cannot boot up! So I bought the USB stick
It takes AGES to load and when it is loaded all you have access to is mail ,internet (that too is extremely slow) a spreadsheet and a graphics program - you cannot access any other files from your PC. It is OK if you only want the above in slow time but don`t expect this to be the answers to your prayers as I did . I even read it can be obtained as freeware????

So, I have done a full and honest test and this is the result
Boot up time - 8 minutes 21 seconds ! lightning fast? NO WAY
Access to the internet 1 minute 19 seconds - SLOW
Takes ages to open any file and VERY slow on the internet search - SLOW
So I did what Debby of Xtra-Pc customer support advised and spoke to Paolo C
Sadly he was not very helpful - I got the impression he was reading from a sheet of paper and could not deviate from it - kept telling me to try another computer - I have already tried 4 , 2 bootable and 2 not bootable 64 bit and 32 bit. He kept telling me to try different usb ports - did that already- several . then Paolo said the usb stick was not working despite me telling him it was but running VERY SLOW - sadly he could not address my issue of running slow whatsoever and came away feeling very frustrated and angry -Now the stick has given up the ghost and just shuts down any computer I try it on-, so i am now left with a useless USB stick - perhaps i can reformat it and use it for storage . I gave all my personal information at the start and still he asked me again to retype it as it was not on his screen but was on mine - not very professional ! I am so sorry I went down this route now - a bitter lesson well learned here.

Yes the customer service ditector has contacted me NOT to discuss the s owness of this product but to say they cannot help anymore !!!!!

I tried to log-in and I can't

I tried to log-in and I can't. There is nothing to help you recover your password or change the setting where you do not want to use a password. Holding down the shift key w/ the restart button does not work at all. This system do not allow you to uninstall and re-install starting from the very beginning. HOW DO YOU RESET THE PASSWORD SO I CAN GET INTO MY XTRA-PC PROGRAM? Also what does open-box mean?

Another junk drawer object

Due to not being a techie person I ordered this product. I thought I would be able to access files, photos and installed games already installed on my old PC. I was very disappointed. It will probably end up in a drawer and I will have to buy a new PC.

I bought this almost a year ago, it's okay but cheap and scammy

I bought this almost a year ago, because i didn't want to be bothered to make a Linux USB.

I used it on an old AMD laptop and it worked fine. I used Discord and even Steam on the usb and it ran fine. However after a month the usb corrupted. I asked for a replacement but instead of giving me a replacement they sent me one of their other products (PhotoStick). I would have preferred an xtrapc instead.

Also it's a bit scammy, as they don't mention that the speed boost Xtra PC gives is dependent on the Hardware your pc is using.

So while it is a legit product, it's advertised in a scammy way. Also, the usb's they use are cheap. If you have the tech knowledge better off making your own.

Refund for Xtra-PC

I have been unable to make my Xtra-PC USB work on my Mac Desktop and after several attempts with chat line and Trust Pilot I had no luck. Un-requested I was told that a refund was processed and I could either destroy the USB or keep it. Very grateful for their response and no quibbles at all. Excellent customer service, not always given in this day and age. Well done.

I knew I was buying an Linux distro but…

I knew I was buying an Linux distro but was in the situation of requiring a quick fix to my 'downed' computer. I inserted the USB, selected USB load from the bios list hit enter and away we went. Took xtra-pc probably 40 seconds to load and I was back doing my emails etc.
For non savvy computer users or those, like me, desperate, xtra-pc is a good thing. Worth the extra dollars to get back into the game.
I now run Linux Cinnamon on both my desktops.

Don't buy it

Don't buy it. It doesn't make your old PC faster or run like a new machine. It is just a bootable USB stick with a preloaded Linux (which is less resources hungry than Windows), and Linux is FREE. You can make this USB on your own, it's not hard. There is plenty of guides how to make bootable Linux USB (which serves as installation disk) and how to install Linux on USB stick. You will not only save your money, but also enjoy NEW SKILL you earned!
Just search for: ''How to create a bootable Ubuntu Live USB drive'' and then: ''How to install a complete Ubuntu on a USB Flash Drive''.
Have fun!
PS. People in their ads talk about discovering how their PC/Laptop doesn't need a hard drive to run and to prove it they show you an optical drive they hold in their hand... So clearly they prey on people with a little to none computing knowledge.

It does what it says it does

It does what it says it does. I used it to boot up an old PC that would no longer boot. The initial setup took a fair bit of time but afterwards it boots up in about 2 minutes. I think its fairly priced and for those who don't want to or aren't technically able to create their own boot stick and then install an OS then this will do the job. Overall I'm happy with the purchase.

NOT SUITBLE FOR PC OLDER THAN 2007 AND 32 BIT !!!!!

I received the Xtra-pro 64gb thinking it would bring my old (Acer Aspire with Intel (R) Celeron(R) M Processor @ 1.60GHz and 960MB of Ram,
I believe it is 32 Bit with MS Windows XP Home edition V Pack 2.) back to life !!!
The laptop is too old (2006) The wrong Processor! and needs to be 64 bit and not 32 bit !!!!
Its a shame the above infomation is NOT SHOWEN ON THE AD!!!!!
This would have saved me the problem and wasted time and about £18 loss in postage.
I was suprised to have received the refund so promptly, but only net cost & not gross refund.
Xtra-PC should say at the front of their ad
NOT SUITBLE FOR PC OLDER THAN 2007 AND 32 BIT !!!!!

this is just a USB stick with a Linux os on it, you can do this for free if you just search up Linux download and have a USB drive that holds it. and if you expect to still have a lot of your downloads, or if you use windows, you will not have slides, word or any other of those. it is also possible if you have any games or other 3rd party applications they might not work with Xtra-PC. DO NOT BUT IT!!
