Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 102 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Consumers expressed deep frustration regarding severe delivery delays, persistent backorders stretching for many months, and ordered products frequently arriving broken, defective, or missing entirely from all of their shipments. Additionally, buyers complained extensively about rude and unhelpful customer service representatives, frustrating return policies, automated support systems that made reaching a real human nearly impossible, and unexpectedly expensive shipping costs. Some people were satisfied with attentive staff members who went out of their way to coordinate special requests, successfully locate rare items, and provide genuinely helpful assistance during their overall shopping experience.

I purchased two prongs for salads for my husband for Christmas. These were not inexpensive. They were the Williams Sonoma brand. They were at least double the price you would pay at target both of them fell apart within six months. The company failed to do anything about it and would not return them.

Honestly I wouldn’t have even given one…

Honestly I wouldn’t have even given one Star if it weren’t for the nice sales attendant Liz who initially helped me at our local store in Santa Barbara Ca. I called in a pinch, looking for cedar planks with stainless steel serving trays. I needed 3 for a last minute 20 person dinner party and she was able to find them for me in store. Thanks Liz.
After that, unfortunately everything else was a “zero stars” experience with William Sonoma.
The cedar planks were very thin and instructions said to soak for only 15 mins. I’ve used cedar planks in the past and then are usually a bit thicker and require at least 2 hrs if not over night soaking so they don’t burn when grilling. I soaked the planks for over 7 hours. When I put them on the grill at the appropriate temp (375-400) after a few minutes they had all caught on fire and were becoming charred black. I had to quickly extinguish the flames without ruining the salmon and then transferred fish to oven to finish cooking. It was a total hassle but luckily the salmon was ok. I wasn’t able to use the planks or serving trays for the buffet display since planks were badly burned and warped so I threw them in the trash but kept the serving trays to return. When I called the store and explained what had happened and requested a refund the sales person said in order to issue a refund I would have to bring in the whole product…. burnt planks included. When I told her I had thrown them away she informed me that if I couldnt bring in the whole product there would be no refund.
Such a disappointing experience with the overall quality of product as well as customer service and loyalty. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. No thanks William Sonoma.

Ordered a coffee grinder June 13

Ordered a coffee grinder June 13, 2026. Now have gotten the third notice of "delay" to July 29. They obviously have no intention of shipping this product any time soon.

I could have traveled to China myself and returned with it by now.

expensive Stanley Tucci omelette pan

I bought a very expensive Stanley Tucci omelette pan less than 2 months ago. The coating is already starting to wear off. Unfortunately I did not keep my receipt (didn't expect it to be such poor quality) but the local store in Plano TX and the 1-800 customer service line were both not willing to help or even listen to the issue. That is the last item that I will ever buy at Williams-Sonoma. They really don't stand by their products.

Buyer beware!!!

Buyer beware!!!! I ordered a digital gift card for my son and never received an email with the actual gift card. I had an email with the order number and confirmation of purchase but no follow up email with the card itself. Since I wanted it to be a surprise I had requested that the card be emailed to me so that I could print it and put it in his gift basket. The purchase was made April 2nd. What occurred when my son attempted to contact them with the order number to see if he could get the actual egift card was a situation with the absolute worst customer service we have ever encountered! They never replied to his email so I emailed them. No reply. I then called customer service and it continued to get worse from there. At first it seemed that it would be an easy fix. I spoke with Lexi who reissued the card and emailed it to me. The email never came. We attempted to do this multiple times before figuring out that for some reason unbeknown to anyone their emails quit coming through to me. I have had an account with Williams & Sonoma for years and had been receiving emails from them with no problem up until the purchase of the gift card! They had no answer for this. I then requested they just email it to my son. They said they could not do that??!! I asked for the representative to please involve a superior to try and resolve this issue. While my customer service representative Lexi was very friendly and genuinely tried to resolve this matter, the problem lie in their system glitches so there was little she could do. However, the superior Mercil Wommack could not have cared less. When speaking to Lexi, the only option was to have me repurchase another card and wait for a refund of the card I had purchased 2 months prior. So I was being asked to me out $400. with a company who never sent me the egift card I purchased in the first place, and suddenly had problems with their email system so there would be no confirmation that I had purchased another gift card?! I was not at all comfortable with this. I asked how I would be able to confirm the purchase and was told I would need to give them a couple of weeks to complete both transactions (a refund and repurchase) and then I was to call them to confirm they had done what they said they were going to do??!! They could not be bothered with calling or emailing me. It was MY responsibility. I was not AT ALL comfortable that I could trust this company to get this right and expressed so to Lexi. Lexi had said she notified her superior Mercil Wommack of this and I would be receiving an email with a resolution. Mercil's "resolution" was to repurchase and wait on a refund. Short and sweet-no apologies for the inconvenience or any validation that he understood my frustration much lass cared in the first place. I replied Very strongly that I was uncomfortable with this resolution due to their lack of follow up and that the original purchase never arrived in the first place. Mercil did not reply.
Since there were no other options and I would be out $200. PLUS another $200.00 for the cost of replacing the gift, I asked Lexi if she could please have both the new card and the confirmation of the refund and repurchase sent to my sons email and she said yes they could do that. I had no other option other than to trust that Williams Sonoma would do as promised so we moved forward with a refund/repurchase. I did indeed get the refund on my card but no confirmation was sent to my son. Williams Sonoma also never reissued a new card! I emailed Mercil and he did not reply. Obviously, Williams Sonoma does not care if they have my returning business and on numerous occasions do not even reply to messages. I beyond saddened that I will no longer be able to purchase from this company. They are not to be trusted.

Pissed off customer.

Yesterday I made an Oder on line in after awhile decided ( several minutes )to cancel it. I couldn’t do that. The customer service employees all the time were saying to me that they can not do that. Practically the company were pushing me to buy what I don’t like.
I am feeling as so someone twisting my arms and ripping me off. Stay away from ordering items at Sonoma Williams on line.

WILLIAMS SONOMA HORRIBLE REGISTRY !!!!

I used Williams Sonoma for my Registry for my wedding in September. I received a gift in April maybe?? For my Bridal shower at the end of May. I did not open it until after my bridal shower and then realized I wanted to return it. When I contacted customer service to print a gift receipt they told me they were unable to do so. They were not even willing to give me any kind of gift receipt. If you are trying to decide if you should use them ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!!!!! They were horrible and do not try and make the brides experience any better.
I had another gift from amazon that was outside of the “return window” and they fixed it with ease and it took no time at all. It should not be a big deal to return gifts on a registry website. IT SHOULD BE EXPECTED!!!!!! They should not run a registry website and honestly their company is disgusting.

Avoid registering (for your wedding) with them

The return policy for wedding registry gifts is 90 days after the event or the purchase, whichever is later. When you go to make a return 48 days after your wedding, they'll say you're outside of the return window. Their system has been programmed to not honor their stated return policy. Then, if you chat with then, they have you call another number where you ha. We shouldn't have registered with them. Items kept going in and out of stock, changing links, etc. Register at Amazon and avoid this mess of a company.

I used this website for sending my cousin baby gift

I used this website for sending my cousin gift, and the customer service did not help at all with my request to update the deliver address. Worst experience from their customer service. Because I contacted UPS, UPS did not have authority to update the address. That is why I contacted this registry website company, which offered no help.

Bought a very expensive outdoor patio…

Bought a very expensive outdoor patio set with dining table, chairs, benches etc. Advertised as Aluminum (and still is?) yet the system is held together by steel. The entire $15K rusted away in 24 months. William Sonoma acknowledged the blatant misrepresentation and DID NOTHING??? DON'T BUY THE LANARCA LINE AND WILL NEVER BUY AGAIN FROM WILLIAM SONOMA.

If I could give this store zero stars I…

If I could give this store zero stars I would. Buyer beware!
I tried to return a product that I received as a gift (marked on the bottom with the Williams Sonoma name), that was DEFECTIVE, and was told unless I could produce the receipt to ensure it was within 30 days, I was out of luck. All I could think of, was thank goodness it was not expensive, since I left the product at the store and left with no satisfaction. Just imagine if it had been an expensive small appliance. My recommendation is to buy elsewhere!

Already over priced

Already over priced, but shipping charges are ridiculous. Had to pay 20 dollars to have 4 salad plates shipped. To add insult to injury, it wasn't even to my home - it was to a West Elm store, which I then had to pick up! Never again.

This company does not stand behind itsproducts and sell sjunk

This company does not stand behind its products. I bought a roasting pan and used it 3 times- the gold non-stick finish baked off. I sent pictures. Waited on hold ts speak to a manager for over 30 minutes- who never took my call. Long story short- I was told the pan was over a year old (15months to be exact)- so they would do nothing. Its is a lousy company- here was the lousy product they were peddling- Williams Sonoma Goldtouch® Savory Roasting Set with Lasagna Pan & Rack $69.95. Garbage at its best!

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would. I ordered an espresso machine in store on April 4. On April 9, it was delivered, but in the wrong color. I called and quickly received a label to return the incorrect item, which I did the next day. The return was confirmed by both WS and UPS as received on April 13. After almost 2 months, I've received nothing but different stories from the WS customer service team, saying that the item was marked as received, but they don't have it; and without the item, they cannot issue a refund or send the correct item. Not even a "hey, we know this sucks. Here is a credit while we try to get it straightened out." Nope, just, "contact your credit card company to dispute the charge." Absolutely awful customer service if I've ever seen it. Even after speaking with a manager, she said "your case is closed and there is nothing anyone is going to do." Again, absolutely awful to treat customers this way when the company messes up not once, but twice on an $850 order?! Insane. Never again.

I used them for my bridal registry

I used them for my bridal registry. Everything is back ordered. I got multiples of items as the site doesn’t work properly. When I returned all my duplicate and triplicates. It took 2 hrs and they email you each credit in an email. Only 1 ended up coming through and I had to go back and do the entire process again only to have 2 come though. So I’m still missing 7 credits and each comes separately to keep track of. I would never recommend WS. Overpriced and did a terrible job.

Order Never Arrived, 0 Customer Service Support.

Ordered a Christmas present in December 2025. Original arrival date was January 2026. Then they let me know it was backordered and would arrive in March. Then April. Then May. It is now May 18 and I have not received the item, nor has it shipped. When I reach out to customer service, the only response I receive is the attached that they cannot find my order and can't help me. Meanwhile, I've been charged for this $200 item. Horrible follow through, horrible customer service. I would recommend ordering from literally anywhere else than Williams Sonoma. Not sure how they've been in business for so long but I will never support them again.

I ordered a skillet online..a huge hassle!

I ordered a skillet online. The package arrived, but it was a dutch oven. I called customer service, they arranged UPS to pick up return package....then a skillet will be sent out. The second package arrived. No skillet, but another dutch oven! I called customer service again, a UPS pick up was arranged again. The package was returned. I told the customer rep that this time, I want a refund (almost $189 w/tax and shipping). I never got an email to acknowledge a refund...and over a week later, heard nothing from them. No emails at all. I used Paypal (pay in 4), so I put in a dispute with them. Will see if anything will be done. I may go to a WS store by me, to see if they can help me. I've spoken to three customer reps over the phone...a waste of time. Never again with this company! A supposedly "high end" well known retailer...well, I've learned my lesson. They are terrible! The worst customer service. Don't trust them.

Cold-chain issues

Between November 2025 and February 2026, I placed multiple orders for frozen pastries through Williams Sonoma’s website. On the majority of these occasions, the pastries arrived not in a frozen state but at ambient temperature, rendering them unsuitable as delivered.
The most recent incident occurred in early March 2026. I sent an email to Williams Sonoma’s customer service address to document the pattern and notify them that I would not be placing future frozen orders as a result. I have received no response.

I subsequently visited their “Contact Us” page to follow up and found that no email address is listed — only phone and fax. I am writing to here because I have been unable to reach the company through any written channel, and because the pattern of delivery failures across multiple orders represents a consistent failure to deliver product as described.

Providing a real means for written feedback, such as email, and acknowledging receipt of communication through that avenue would go a long way. Reviewing their cold-chain options would be another.

Delivery process is a joke

Delivery process is a joke. They have had my table at the distribution facility for 6 weeks. When asked if I can pick up the item, the answer was absolutely not. Change your process, if I have the option to pickup my purchased item 6 weeks early, which saves the company time and money that would be a win for everyone.
