Cold-chain issues

Between November 2025 and February 2026, I placed multiple orders for frozen pastries through Williams Sonoma’s website. On the majority of these occasions, the pastries arrived not in a frozen state but at ambient temperature, rendering them unsuitable as delivered.
The most recent incident occurred in early March 2026. I sent an email to Williams Sonoma’s customer service address to document the pattern and notify them that I would not be placing future frozen orders as a result. I have received no response.

I subsequently visited their “Contact Us” page to follow up and found that no email address is listed — only phone and fax. I am writing to here because I have been unable to reach the company through any written channel, and because the pattern of delivery failures across multiple orders represents a consistent failure to deliver product as described.

Providing a real means for written feedback, such as email, and acknowledging receipt of communication through that avenue would go a long way. Reviewing their cold-chain options would be another.

Delivery process is a joke

Delivery process is a joke. They have had my table at the distribution facility for 6 weeks. When asked if I can pick up the item, the answer was absolutely not. Change your process, if I have the option to pickup my purchased item 6 weeks early, which saves the company time and money that would be a win for everyone.

I have been a B2B customer of Williams…

I have been a B2B customer of Williams Sonoma and its portfolio of brands for six years and have spent tens of thousands of dollars with these companies on both personal purchases and business purchases for client homes. That history is why this review matters. Based on my experience over the past year and a half, this has not been one isolated mistake. It has been a repeated pattern of fulfillment issues, poor follow through, and online customer service that often did not lead to a meaningful resolution. As a result, I have lost confidence in Williams Sonoma and its portfolio of brands.

What makes this especially disappointing is that my experience was not always this way. Up until about a year and a half ago, I found the customer service team friendly, personable, and helpful. That contrast has made the more recent decline in service and follow through especially clear and is the reason for this review.

One example involved a wedding gift valued at around $300 that was delivered to the wrong address. A replacement was then initiated for the correct address and later canceled without explanation. After more than an hour on the phone, I was told I would need to work through UPS. UPS then declined to assist because too much time had passed. Whatever happened internally, the result for me was that the issue was never resolved and I did not receive that wedding gift.

Last winter, I ordered stainless steel toasters for two clients. Instead, both clients received the wrong color and finish. I called customer service four separate times, and the matter still was not handled correctly. One client received the wrong item for a second time, and the other client’s replacement was delayed for months because, as I was later told, it needed internal approval and had not been processed. I had to call again to find out why nothing had happened. This did not just consume my time. It also reflected poorly on me and my business in front of my clients.

Other orders followed a similar pattern. Custom coasters ordered as wedding gifts, valued at over $100, never arrived. Instead, an oven mitt was sent. After speaking with customer service, I was told the correct item would be sent, but after six months and still no coasters, the order was canceled and I did not receive a clear explanation or resolution. I also recently experienced delays with bookcases because the delivery team was, according to what I was told, waiting on payment authorization before completing the delivery. The result was that our items remained undelivered while the issue sat unresolved for weeks.

Recently, I received a white lampshade with what appeared to be blood on it, still sealed in the plastic. I reported it and was sent a return label, but I did not receive the level of follow up I would have expected for something of that nature.

I have also found the over the phone customer service experience increasingly difficult to navigate. In my experience, many representatives sounded highly scripted and had limited ability to resolve anything beyond the most basic issue. The online chat directed me to a blank page for refund information, then offered to connect me to customer service, only to say they were too busy and instruct me to try again later. I also attempted to submit delivery feedback by text and received an error saying my response was too long, even though I had only answered the prompts provided. In my experience, there was a great deal of language suggesting customer care, but the process often led nowhere.

These experiences have been especially disappointing because Williams Sonoma and its portfolio of brands present themselves as premium retailers. In my experience over the past year and a half, the service, follow through, and quality control did not match that standard. I understand that mistakes can happen with any company. What changed my view was the repeated nature of these problems across multiple orders and brands within the portfolio, along with the difficulty of getting straightforward resolution.

Based on my experience, I would be very cautious about relying on Williams Sonoma or its related brands for personal items, weddings, client purchases, gifts, custom items, or important deliveries. Attractive branding means very little when the execution is this unreliable. From fulfillment to customer care, this has been one of the most consistently disappointing retail experiences I have had. I no longer trust these brands with purchases where accuracy, timing, and follow through matter. That is not a minor concern for a premium retailer.

Literally the worst company I have had…

Literally the worst company I have had an experience buying online from. I ordered a year ago and waiting 6 months for an item that was supposed to be regular shipping. I figured I would give them another try and I ordered next day shipping only to then get an email my items are now backordered and they cant refund the next day charge until I receive all the orders and would need to call each time I received a product from that order. After about 5 times of calling back and forth about the same order I finally said just cancel everything and they said they couldnt. I will never order from this company ever again.

Avoid If You Want a Smooth Shopping Experience

My experience with Williams Sonoma has been extremely disappointing, and I want to share it so other customers can be aware.

First, the customer service is very poor. Whether through their official customer service channels or social media, responses are often slow, unhelpful, or sometimes there is no response at all. It is very difficult to get problems properly resolved.

Second, I noticed several unexplained small charges on my payment method at different times, ranging from under $1 to several dollars. This raised serious concerns for me about payment security. I would strongly recommend customers regularly check their bank or credit card statements.

Third, there is no advantage when it comes to shipping. Regardless of how much you spend, you still have to pay for shipping, which makes their products more expensive compared with similar kitchenware brands.

Fourth, the delivery dates shown during checkout may not be accurate. In my case, the estimated delivery time changed significantly after I placed the order and completed payment.

Finally, the product quality and order accuracy were also disappointing. I received incorrect or incomplete items, including an oil bottle that arrived without a spout. I also paid an extra $17 for a personalized jar, but when it arrived there was no customization at all. The refund process was very slow, and I had to follow up multiple times before the refund was finally processed.

Overall, this was one of the worst online shopping experiences I have had. I will not purchase from this brand again. If you care about having a good shopping experience and don’t want to deal with unnecessary hassle, I would strongly recommend avoiding this store.

Nightmare Service

I guess I'm the last person to learn that WS service is a nightmare. I bought 4 items as Christmas gifts which never arrived. As I tracked them on their website the delivery date went from Jan 9 to delivered (!), which was wrong. Beyond this, this is what I experienced:

1. You cannot email Williams Sonoma, only phone.
2. Service reps are not allowed to call you back.
3. Service reps have zero authority to refund $$
4. Only "Leadership" can cancel or refund purchases.
5. Wait time for Leadership is 30-60 minutes
6. As stated above the WS system was falselyt updated as items being delivered.

Do not shop here!!

This is an exact copy of a review…

This is an exact copy of a review “…moderated for not meeting publication standards…” by Williams Sonoma after they solicited my opinion of an on line transaction with them:

Shipping via Pony Express?
All Clad pans are fine, good quality albeit expensive. But Williams Sonoma shipping and order fulfillment is a throwback to the old Sears & Roebuck days. In my experience typically anywhere from five to seven working days (never count weekend days...) after order placement to actually in transit. In a world of Amazon Prime this is not acceptable.

Evidently Williams Sonoma is only interested in publishing glowing reviews, not realistic reviews.

Extremely disappointed with this…

Extremely disappointed with this experience. I placed an online order with Williams-Sonoma, expecting their usual quality standards. The order arrived with one box that was visibly inferior, inconsistent with the others, and clearly different from what was advertised online.

Customer service acknowledged the issue after reviewing photos, but refused a refund, offering only a future discount instead — unacceptable when the product received is defective and misleading. They later claimed it was from a third-party vendor, yet this is nowhere disclosed on the website. The product is sold under the Williams-Sonoma brand, which makes this practice deceptive to consumers.

This was intended as a corporate gift. Had it been shipped directly, it would have reflected poorly on my business. I now question the quality of the contents as well, given the lack of quality control.

I had to take time off work to replace the gift myself and absorb a $107.95 loss. Very disappointing to see a brand known for quality prioritize vendors over customers. I will not purchase again.

WS won’t allow negative reviews

I recently outfitted our kitchen in our new home in Newport Coast. Almost the entire kitchen was purchased from WS. That is, we spent a small fortune. I recently used the kettle we bought, and it under-performed greatly. In fact, it scalded my hand with boiling water because it was so unsafe to use! I promptly went to the WS website to write a review to warn others, and then received an email from WS saying that my review “could not be published”. It said to edit the review, but didn’t say why. I responded asking what the issue was, and did not hear back. I sent another note days later asking for clarification, and finally received an email saying that my review mentioned another store, and that was why. I swiftly removed that store name, and re-submitted the review. I just now received yet ANOTHER email saying they won’t publish the review. I am now left to assume they won’t publish it because the honest review was negative in nature. They are clearly misleading their customers in only allowing positive reviews. This is not the spirit behind writing them, and they should be ashamed. They’re obviously not interested in my business- I will go to Sur La Table from now on.

I never received the $95.95 ham I ordered

I ordered a $80 ham (plus shipping costs for a grand total for $95.95) on December 20, 2025, for the holidays. It's now January 28, 2026, I've wasted at least two cumulative hours on the phone with them and have yet to receive the ham, a tracking number or a refund.

My credit card bank is now pursuing this issue.

NEVER AGAIN will I do business with this company. Based on similar reviews, I'm far from alone in this. Check out their overall score in customer satisfaction (or rather lack thereof).

To buy or not to buy...that is the Question.

This is my recent experience. Ordered two sets of really nice Le Creuset Heritage Stoneware dishes for Christmas gifts. 1 set was on Backorder until mid-Jan then that got moved to early in Feb. The other set arrived, but wasn't packed sufficiently to prevent damage in shipping/handling. Customer service reps, via phone, were attentive and understanding of my issues. I ended up cancelling both sets following the return of what was left of the one set that actually arrived. The company made things right in the end, and I was made whole again. Unfortunately, I could not be confident that damage wouldn't occur again...nor did I want to have to deal with that again.

I have to agree, gone down hill.

I have to agree, this legacy retailer has truly declined in recent years. For example, I ordered a SET of 3 cutting boards. A SET. That implies they are packaged together and sold, you know, as a SET. They have been shipping them as individual items since Oct and I still don’t have the 3rd piece and it’s Dec 27. When I reached out to express my dissatisfaction, I got a ridiculous answer, “At least you can enjoy the board you have!” So tone deaf. I also recently ordered an all-clad whisk from them which should have a solid handle, yet when I went to whisk something the other day - stale dishwater came spitting out of the handle and into the dish I was preparing. SO gross and unhygienic.

Update. The final cutting board arrived January 6th. It’s the wrong size. I’m just going to keep it and move on, but I doubt I’ll be ordering from them again for mail delivery.

Bait and Switch

On Nov 5, 2025 I called WS customer service to check on the value of 3 old gift and merchandise credit cards. I was told specifically that these cards had not expired and had a total value of $263.13. I called back on Dec 27, 2025 to place an order using the value of these cards and was told by 3 WS representatives that the cards contained no value and that “perhaps” the cards had expired. This was in direct opposition to the information I was given in November. I was given no explanation for the change and no offer of any compensation (which I did not request). I consider this unacceptable and not the service I expect from a well-established reputable company like WS.

Online Gift Certificates Not Working

I purchased an online gift certificate, received the order confirmation, had my card charged...and then they cancelled the order without any warning or notification. I was left trying to figure out why the recipient hadn't received it. They tried to claim that the fields for the order hadn't been filled out (they had, which I presume is why the order was confirmed). They had no information on what happened and why it was cancelled, and only told me to "try again." I'm not sure if it was a scam or just an error on their website or with their team, but the customer service was awful and obviously we did not attempt to repurchase from them.

"Heirloom quality timer" yeah no.

Bought a kitchen timer that came up when I searched for an "heirloom quality kitchen timer". A Makenzie Childs timer that was advertised as being made of steel and good quality. This timer I'm sure cost Williams Sonoma about $2. They sell it for $79.95. what a complete rip off. My bad for not looking harder, but honestly this thing is utter crap for that kind of money. As a matter of fact I'm really soured on Williams Sonoma period because of this. Anywhere else for me
