My Wickes bathroom was fitted just over 2 years ago. The first problem was with the tiles. 3 different shades of grey tiles were fitted by the tiler, he hadn't checked the batch numbers! They had been delivered by Wickes and checked in by the Wickes plumber. He hadn't checked either. It looked like a patchwork quilt so 18 tiles had to be chipped off and replaced with the correct tiles. The edging on the tiles looks dreadful and has sharp edges which are a health and safety problem.
A few weeks after installation the luxury vinyl flooring, as recommended by Wickes, started to crack and break. This has worsened over time.
A damp patch appeared on the landing wall directly behind the shower where the wrong coloured tiles had to be changed. This is now rotting the internal wall.
The sealant round the edge of the shower disintegrated within a few weeks causing water to leak through the ceiling below. The sealant was replaced but there is still a leak coming from underneath the shower which has ruined the dining room ceiling and the bathroom floor boards and flooring.
The toilet then started to leak, a small puddle appearing from under the box to start with then becoming much larger. The sink and the shower have always been incredibly slow to drain.
The radiator has come away from the wall.
The hinges on the Wickes bathroom cabinet both snapped within weeks so it can't be used.
Constant calls and messages to the fitter were always met with the reply they had to wait for permission from Wickes before they could attend. Last year they said they no longer worked for Wickes so wouldn't help!
I then started to call customer services, only one was helpful, one even hung up on me. I went back to the Dartford store twice, only after bursting into tears out of sheer frustration on my second visit did they send an emergency plumber to fix the toilet leak. He commented that the toilet had been plumbed in incorrectly. He took photos of all the faults in the bathroom and agreed that the whole bathroom needs ripping out and replacing as it was so bad. He fixed the toilet leak by breaking open the box and left it free standing. "You can use the toilet as long as no one sits down on it!" How can a toilet be used without sitting on it? The toilet has leaked sewage all over the floor rendering it unusable. We are a family of 5 with an upstairs toilet we now cannot use.
After numerous emails and phone calls Wickes have made a final offer to replace the shower tray and re-plumb the toilet. Take it or leave it! Apparently they think it's acceptable to fit a new shower tray on rotten floorboards.
They have refused to investigate or fix the leak from the shower that's causing the damp patch, and they've refused to replace the damaged floor and floor boards or the dining room ceiling. All damaged by their shoddy goods and workmanship.
And before I get the standard reply from Wickes asking me to reply privately with further details, they have all the information already along with colour photographs of all the damage caused by them. Ref 032821-8093-V
order number 032821. These details were sent to their District and Regional Managers by the Dartford store manager and the customer service assistant, to no avail.
If anyone is thinking of getting a bathroom done by Wickes my advice is DO NOT
***update January 2026 - this has still not been resolved.
After writing this review I contacted the Ombudsman who agreed that Wickes needed to rip out the bathroom, repair the damage and replace the bathroom. I was fobbed off over a 9month period where Wickes said a bathroom fitter would contact me to arrange the work. 9months went by, no bathroom fitter had contacted me so I requested a full refund, money to pay for all the damage caused to my property and compensation. I was only offered £5000 for the work and £1000 compensation. This is far less than I paid for the bathroom and nowhere near enough to pay for all the repairs and new bathroom furniture and fitting. I again requested a full refund, payment for the repairs and compensation but am still waiting for them to agree to this.
The floor tiles and floor boards are completely ruined caused by the leaking radiator, shower, shower tray and toilet (all Wickes products and installed by Wickes). The internal wall to the landing has completely rotted. The internal wall to the bedroom has water coming through. Carpets in both rooms are sopping wet and stained. The shower constantly leaks and we have been unable to use it at all for several months. The toilet has been unusable since February 2024. The ceiling in the room under the bathroom has collapsed.
I am absolutely at my wits end. I even contacted the Wickes CEO - received absolutely no reply which, in my mind, gives a good indication of how little he cares about his company's customers.

So my bathroom hasn’t been installed yet I have just completed the design project and am
awaiting installation.
But I have to write a review this early regarding the absolute pleasure it was working
with Karen who works for the dartford branch and who was our designer. She was welcoming, friendly, made time for us and explained everything fully. I can’t recommend her enough as a person or for her skill set if you’re wanting to get your bathroom or kitchen completed.

The 5 Stars are for the effort and quality of service from Designer Karen and her colleague Alex in the Dartford Branch, and the local installation team VR Property Developers of Abbey Wood.
Karen was able to visit my home before the start of my project and discuss with me my requirements. I was able to openly discuss my wants and needs and received excellent guidance along with recommendations that I had not even thought about for the best solution.
She kept me up to date with excellent communication on the orders, pricing, installation and has provided me with great after care support. I would say she is a credit to the company, highly valuable and brings up the overall 5 star rating.
The installation was done by a local 3rd party contracted by Wickes. They were professional, highly skilled, hard workers, delivering the project on time. They kept the site contained and clean. Zara and Chris done excellent work.
The job was to completely gut and remove the old kitchen and bathroom, replace all the units and equipment, upgrade the electrical connections in the bathroom, relocate the sink and cooker, and tile the floor and walls. This was all completed within 2 weeks.
For Wickes admin team/project care team, my review is 3 stars. A lot of confusion, errors that needed correcting and hit and miss on the frequency and quality of communication. Luckily Karen was able to resolve all the issues from that side of the business.
