Disappointing week in the BVIs with a catamaran from Voyage Yacht Charters
Black tank failure at boarding delayed our departure ½ day, followed by two days of smelling sewage.
Mainsail tore while being raised under normal conditions, ending our ability to sail for most of the trip.
Ongoing battery and electrical issues required constant engine charging (3–4 times per day), far beyond what we were initially told (1–2 times per day).
At one point, we had no lights and could not start the generator, and one engine initially failed to start.
Staff replaced the battery with one from their service boat, but it did not resolve the issue.
Moldy showers and corroded fixtures.
We have video and text documentation supporting these issues, including confirmation that increased battery charging was considered “normal” only after problems arose.
While the base team was responsive at times, the overall experience reflects poor maintenance, inconsistent communication, and inadequate resolution for significant equipment failures.
We raised these concerns directly and allowed the company to make it right before posting this review.
Given the cost of a charter like this, we expected a safe, functional vessel and a reliable experience. That was not delivered.
