Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

An exclusively out of hours service that is there when needed and like all such matters, Pet Insurance is essential.
Bonus feature, they also have a dedicated claim management team.

Excellent service at a time when we were quite anxious about our dog's health. Everything was explained simply, clearly and patiently.

EXCELLENT SERVICE ESPECIALLY FROM CHARLOTTE GRIFFIN! I recognised that at 11.30 at night my Weimaraner was suffering Bloat (GDV) This can be a life threatening condition if not treated with a matter of urgency. My usual Veterinary practice does not deal with emergencies so I was directed to VETS NOW and my experience with the girls there was amazing. Charlotte was extremely knowledgeable and kept me informed all the way of the options that are required to treat this potentially lethal condition. THANK YOU CHARLOTTE. Summer was treated with the utmost respect and professionalism, the surgery is spotless and I had no hesitation in leaving my dog overnight in her very capable hands. Summer who is 12 years old survived the condition all down to Charlotte's expertise. Easily 5 STARS.

My Whippet was very ill with a virus .. the staff there was lovely and thorough.
We had to leave Lottie there and she is very sensitive but the staff looked so well after her we picked her up 24 hours later and not only was she much better but also a happy girl. Not at all scared or unhappy.
I was so grateful thank you so much and with your help and further instructions she made a full recovery.
You handled her so lovely too !!

The staff were very calming at a time when, as dog owners, we were uncertain as to what was wrong. Over the phone, the cost of the emergency appointment was given so that we could make an informed decision as to whether or not to take him. The vet was careful with her examination of our dog and then gave various options open to us with how to progress his care. She was patient and helpful which made a stressful situation calmer. Very impressed. I would definitely use them again, but I hope I never need to!

I took my cat to the out of hours service for what appears to be cystitis. We were seen quickly and she was treated. But for a 15 minute appointment with an anti inflammatory injection it cost over £350. That is expensive but my biggest gripe is they have the cheek to charge a £25 admin fee to complete the insurance claim form. And I had to chase this, with one of their admin workers being rude and unhelpful on the online chat. The advertised phone number is never answered but messages are returned. There is a different number which is answered though and the person I spoke with was helpful and chased up my claim and refunded the admin fee.
I just find it an absolute cheek to charge an admin fee (which I have never been charged by any other in hours or out of hours vet) when they did, in effect for this case, charge £1200 per hour!
So for treatment I would rate them 4 or 5 stars but for the admin side (which is their head office, not the local branch) I'd rate a 1 star.

Vet was very good, although the wait was fairly long, which caused a lot of anxiety when waiting for out of hours care due to emergency

The nurse on call was lovely, explained what they were doing to my poor dog who had ripped his nails badly. So lucky to have them close by on call late at night.

Brilliant, staff are lovely, I turned up in complete panic with my unwell dog and two children, it was raining and I was struggling as I’d forgot to bring a lead, the nurses couldn’t be more helpful.

Vets now went above and beyond to look after my dog overnight Thursday night through to Friday morning due to bleeding after an operation From a different vets. They also kept in contact letting me know what was going on. Thank you very much for looking after my dog Benji

Vet was very friendly and reassuring. Our spaniel was in extreme pain and very distressed, further tests found a bulging disc at the base of the spine.
