Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Vets Now we’re the emergency vet at our vet surgery over the weekend. Our little chug Monty, who we had got from a rescue centre 3 days before, snapped up a fallen raisin from the floor. We took him in straight away and the vet induced vomiting and found the raisin! Plus some fabric that he had obviously eaten from somewhere.
All the staff were very kind and understanding and the vet took action right away It was great to know they were there in an emergency.
Highly recommend them.

Wonderful out of hours service - modern clinic, prompt and clear communication, really caring and knowledgeable vet and nurse attending. She was very tender and careful with my cat; A clear and easy process to pay and reclaim from my insurers.
One star deducted as it felt overly expensive. Appreciate its out of hours, but was more than other vets I’ve used for similar previously. Nearly £400 out of hours for consultation fee - the most expensive I’ve had - out of hours drugs charged at a higher price and an admin fee charged for processing insurance claim, which is the first vets I have experienced that with.

The people were lovely when we came in just after 7pm. Reception lady and nurse unfailing kind and helpful. Vet was brisk and competent. But how they justify over £300 basic fee for less than half an hour of care, even after hours, is beyond me. That’s 6X the standard daytime consultation fee. Cost of drugs used was on top of that and reasonable. Will not use again unless there’s actual blood or bone showing.

Prompt attention after triage. Vet was kind and helpful. Quite a long wait for call back when we phoned subsequently after pet appeared to deteriorate, hence 4 stars rather than 5. Fortunately our dog recovered.

Absolute extortion.
Everyone there was very kind and calm for sure but after being referred by online vet, the vet we saw didn’t seem to have the same up to date knowledge and just gave basic monitoring advice.
Hundreds of pounds for limited advice and less than 5 mins of their time.
No finance options on the day either, just pay us now in full. Really quite disgusted at this opportunistic system

We found the practice to be very efficient from the moment we booked them to seeing our dog. Very kind and caring. I recommend them.

Better people skills needed at emotional times no sympathy shown towards my pet to myself, and seem to be too money orientated, whereas the animal should come first

I have to agree with some of the comments here, the prices are colossal, we were quoted £2500.00 for an overnight stay, blood tests and a scan. Seriously! Of course only if you have insurance can these fees be affordable, and therein lies the rub. I feel this is inflation as direct result of the symbiotic relationship of vets to insurance companies. God help our NHS if insurance companies are allowed to influence the payment structure.
We couldn't afford the price quoted and took our pet away & fortunately she was fine the next day. But in taking her away and not having insurance I was made to feel uncaring, but in my opinion the fact that vets are able to charge these incredible prices is shameful, it's a direct consequence of this profitable relationship and it preys on people at a vulnerable time & it is only going to go up!! ( update! 'Vets Now' have a generic response email to reviews that question the validity of their fees, but just this week we have seen editorials in various newspapers and on radio 4 and other news outlets reporting on the growing discontent amongst clientele of veterinary practises, 'Vets Now' might want to pay heed and honour their customers with less offhand replies to genuine concerns)

Thank you all for helping and saving our little Daisy on Monday we would have lost her if it wasn't for your speedy help, experience and nursing, thank you all she is doing well now thanks again to you all.

We took our dear little Cavalier to Vets Now on the August bank holiday, because she has massively large runny poops with lots of blood which came on without any warning.
They treated her but she didn't improve so we took her back the next day and she was kept overnight. with an IV and staff monitoring.
The doctors were so professional and helpful with followup calls once we brought her home.
She is improving by the hour and Vets Now have forwarded all her history to our vets in Eastbourne, thanks Vets Now

Everyone was extremely helpful. My very poorly dog was seen very quickly and treated very carefully. Everything that was being done to treat him was fully explained. Great service. A pity you don't have a branch in Hastings which would make it so much easier when your normal vet is there and out of hours quite a way away.
